Silverstone Track day in a Model 3 Performance

The track day was around £450 - other tracks are cheaper but Silverstone GP circuit is particularly expensive especially in the summer. I didn't have track insurance, I did consider it but the quote was something like £600 for the day. Silverstone is very wide though so you've got a lot of room...

Silverstone Track day in a Model 3 Performance

Interesting! Some good info there. I've never driven Thruxon so that'd definitely be one for me to consider. The last day I did at Abingdon was so busy that it ended up being a bit of a procession. I think for the time being I'll be leaving the M3P at home unless I know it's going to be raining...

They don't make you have your windows down in the UK thankfully. That'd be really irritating :D

Silverstone Track day in a Model 3 Performance

Thanks! :) It's my first time on track with the Tesla and my first time at Silverstone but I have a track car I usually drive. The Tesla is definitely helping cover up any mistakes though especially in the wet where it was driving past Porsches for fun :D

Silverstone Track day in a Model 3 Performance

Ah yeah, he was flying round. Some very quick machines out on track. It actually wasn't as 'numbing' as I thought it might have been. It's a different experience because you can focus in on more on the tyre noises. I found the default race setting was a bit too intrusive though so you'd want to...

Silverstone Track day in a Model 3 Performance

Yeah in hindsight I should have reduced the regen braking and let the brakes do more of the work. The tyres held up very well - the car was fantastic in the morning on a wet track and then in the afternoon I let around 10psi out and they were worked really well.

Silverstone Track day in a Model 3 Performance

Top speed was 132mph on that lap - you can just about see it in the top right hand of the screen on the video. I reckon there's definitely a few more miles an hour in there with a full battery and a better exit from Becketts. First time I've driven the track though so I've not got anything to...

Silverstone Track day in a Model 3 Performance

Yeah it's a great circuit with loads of run-off just in case you get things a bit wrong. I had a brake warning once or twice on screen but no brake fade similarly with upgraded pads and fluid. The main thing holding me back was the power drain after four laps especially on such a big circuit.

Thanks :) You can't unfortunately although that would be a cool edition or at least some sort of +/- time indicator compared to your best lap. There's a whole bunch of data it exports into a CSV file for you too but I couldn't find any data logging software that could actually use it :(

Silverstone Track day in a Model 3 Performance

Good spot. It was just a regular Silverstone track day and that was the only other Tesla out there. He'd found a 50kwh charger on site in one of the Silverstone car parks but it had cobwebs on and wasn't working so he ended up parked up next to me at the nearest Supercharger :D

The bit going from green to red is the battery temperature. There's also a high brake temperature alarm bell going off at 1m8s in the video. I think the actual car battery was something like 50% at this point so it could have been going quicker with more charge.

Silverstone Track day in a Model 3 Performance

Yeah, if the chargers were on site then it'd make it very doable indeed and at full charge the car is extremely quick! I think setting the regen braking to low probably would have helped keep the battery temperature lower so that's some food for thought for next time.

Silverstone Track day in a Model 3 Performance

Just got back from taking my M3P to Silverstone GP for a track day - what a blast! I wanted to see how feasible it was to use the M3P on track for the day and thought I'd post a few thoughts here: Pros: - Extremely capable car especially in the wet where a lot of the dedicated track cars had...

    2019/20 Orders and Deliveries [closed]

Ah interesting, it could be that then which should be a nice easy fix. Here's a picture of two of my blemishes (there's one more on the boot too)

    2019/20 Orders and Deliveries [closed]

Picked up my car today from Bristol Cribbs Causeway! Tesla guys were very helpful apart from being 20 minutes late to the appointment o_O Panel gaps all look fine which was good, couple of little paint blemish snags where it almost looks like a dull white haze from certain angles, one or two...

There are big car parks dotted around but I'm not sure where the Teslas are. I'm sure I'll find it :)

    2019/20 Orders and Deliveries [closed]

I had a text today for a 'low touch' delivery appointment at Cribbs Causeway, Bristol on Thursday. The Tesla shop is in the middle of a mall which is supposed to be shut so I'm not too sure how that's going to work!

    2019/20 Orders and Deliveries [closed]

Along with the hidden VIN, I now seem to have registration details viewable on my account. Weirdly, the amount due is £0 and my D.O.B is around 20 years incorrect so that's either a weird bug or something has gone wrong with my finance details! Is there a way you can view your finance...

    2019/20 Orders and Deliveries [closed]

Have you got a VIN or a hidden VIN on your account? I ordered on the 13th of March and in the last few days I had a hidden VIN appear in the source code. Not sure if I've been matched with a cancelled order - time will tell I suppose!

    2019/20 Orders and Deliveries [closed]

Oh interesting! I'd just assumed the hidden VIN meant that things were happening state-side but that'll be cool if it means there's a UK car assigned to me. Judging by some of the stories on here, I'm fully expecting the VIN to disappear and for the car to be late 2020 at the earliest.

    2019/20 Orders and Deliveries [closed]

Just had a hidden VIN show up on my account in the last few days (Ordered 13th March). Is there any significance to this appearing or does it just mean a car that matches my spec has been assigned to my order? Have a feeling I'll be waiting quite a while yet!
