Discussion: How to get status information from your Powerwalls

Thanks for the details! To clarify, the password the last 5 digits of the "TSN" value? And not the "Paswsord" value underneath on the gateway sticker? For what it's worth, neither of these values worked...also, the 'change password" link requires you to enter the current password??? Edit: got...

Discussion: How to get status information from your Powerwalls

Does anyone have an updated method to access this data to determine degradation? This post: https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/threads/discussion-how-to-get-status-information-from-your-powerwalls.191898/page-3#post-5594383 Has several dead links.

2020 Model X Chrome window trim

I need to replace one of the pieces of Chrome trim under the front windows. I found the part, but every site with the part lists multiple part #s so I cannot tell if it's for the left or right side. Is there a separate part # for each side? 1032173-00-D and 1032174-00-D

Use Black Zigbee Gateway or not?

Thanks, that is what I thought. Although I have been waiting for 30+ days to get the installer login from Tesla. What a pain.

Use Black Zigbee Gateway or not?

So the Ethernet port on the SolarEdge really is unusable for a Tesla customer? I thought they just needed someone to switch it over in SetApp?
  7. C

Use Black Zigbee Gateway or not?

Wait...I thought with solar+powerwalls, if I connected the SolarEdge via Ethernet, I could ditch the zigbee? If I can't why bother connecting via Ethernet at all?

    2022.12.3

So the release notes state that you can add defrost, wipers, etc. to the bottom bar. But when I hold icons down, I only get 4 new controls available to add: both defrosts, heated wheel, and left seat controls...that's it. No wipers?

Has anyone unexpectedly lost power to powerwalls + backup gateway?

Got someone to come out at last...my "backup gateway hardware failure" guess was accurate: Backup Gateway needs to be replaced. One more month (or less...).
  12. C

Has anyone unexpectedly lost power to powerwalls + backup gateway?

It's right next to the PWs. They've been working fine for months. It does seem like some type of hardware failure with the gateway.
  13. C

Has anyone unexpectedly lost power to powerwalls + backup gateway?

I never lost Grid power as far as I know? The powerwalls were only switched off (and back on again) today when power cycling.
  14. C

Has anyone unexpectedly lost power to powerwalls + backup gateway?

Correct. I was troubleshooting an issue with SolarEdge data prior to this, and I unplugged the zigbee for a couple days. That thing has been showing "no signal" for weeks, but that should have no impact on the gateway or powerwalls as far as I can tell. Tesla app has not been able to show...

Has anyone unexpectedly lost power to powerwalls + backup gateway?

Yes, Solar too. The solar appears to be working. I checked the emergency shutoff switch - it's still set to 'on'. There's no light in the gateway and the reset button does nothing. All the breakers are on, though.
  16. C

Has anyone unexpectedly lost power to powerwalls + backup gateway?

My powerwalls have been down since 3/2. Tesla was supposed to get back to me after the initial report, but never did (surprise, surprise!). I called in again today and went through power-cycling everything (powerwalls, powerwall breaks, main breaker), but I still have no power to the backup...

How do I connect the SolarCity Zigbee to the Solar Edge inverter?

This doesn't seem to be the case - the Tesla app works fine and updates in (near) real-time, even if the Solar City zigbee box is completely unplugged.
  18. C

How do I connect the SolarCity Zigbee to the Solar Edge inverter?

I did con tact Tesla and report that the Solar Edge dashboard had no data. They were adamant about the fact that they did not support that - even though it seems like they didn't install correctly in the first place... So the "no signal" indicator on the Solar City box does not necessarily...

How do I connect the SolarCity Zigbee to the Solar Edge inverter?

I have not been getting data in the Solar Edge dashboard. After about a month of back and forth between Tesla and Solar Edge, I sort-of figured out the issue - the Solar City zigbee unit shows a "no signal" light. I have this plugged right into my network via ethernet. My inverter is an HD...

As a Tesla Solar owner, is there any way for me to check my panel status without SolarEdge?

Yes, using Tesla's Gateway. You mention connecting the inverter to the network - is that something I need to do manually?
  21. C

As a Tesla Solar owner, is there any way for me to check my panel status without SolarEdge?

Technically, they have "given me access" by providing the SE login. It's just that the dashboard shows nothing from the panels, and 3 different calls to Tesla resulted in the same answer - they don't support the SE Dashboard or lack of data there.
  22. C

As a Tesla Solar owner, is there any way for me to check my panel status without SolarEdge?

To clarify, I do have access to Solar Edge. It's just that the panels aren't communicating so the SE Dashboard shows 0% output.
  23. C

As a Tesla Solar owner, is there any way for me to check my panel status without SolarEdge?

I recently had 34 panels installed. I wanted a way to easily check the panel status, something that basically showed 34/34 up and running. They provided me with a Solar Edge login, with the caveat that they don't support he Solar Edge Dashboard. Ok fine. I log into the Solar Edge dashboard...

    TeslaFi.com

Found the feature, thank you. So what does it actually do, specifically? I set it to start at 9AM. Then plugged it in at 11AM. I would expect it to wait until the following 9AM to start? But it started immediately. Is there a cutoff, like it only waits to start if you plug it in 12 hrs...

    TeslaFi.com

I see 2 things: schedule departure, and adjust off-peak end time. I must be missing something.
  27. C

    TeslaFi.com

Doesn't the charge schedule in the car only allow you to set a "departure" time? I'm not sure how it works exactly. Right now I have TeslaFi to start/stop charging at 9AM/5PM so I only charge the car when my solar is active.
  28. C

    TeslaFi.com

The TeslaFi schedules to start and stop charging at specific times work perfectly. However, if I plug the car in outside of that schedule, it starts charging immediately, which is expected behavior. Is there any workaround that would allow me to plug the car in and not have it start charging...

Ok, I was going about it all wrong by using the Home Charging schedule. Thanks for the help!
  30. C

    TeslaFi.com

Hello, Trying to determine if subscribing to TeslaFi is worth it for me. All I want to do is create a simple daily schedule to start charging at one time and stop at another time - regardless of energy rate schedules, battery %, etc. The only way I could do this previously was a combination...

Powerwall 2 + UPS Connundrum - and solution

I had a similar issue, but after the sun was already down for a while. The Grid then went out, and I had electronics "humming" and a UPS failure - so it seems like the Powerwalls raised to 65 Hz, even though there was no need to inhibit solar panels? Is that normal? I have not had this issue...

How do I open the driver/passenger door with the FOB?

I don't want it to open automatically based on proximity at all. I just wanted to press a button on the FOB to open it. The post refers to disabling "Passive Entry" which I did not see in my options. I guess I will need to double check. But it may be moot if I prefer to keep the car unlocked...
  33. C

How do I open the driver/passenger door with the FOB?

Thank you for the info. I appreciate it. It seems ridiculous that these 2 features are married together. I can't open the door with the FOB unless I have an automatic door opening, which results in the driver door popping open anytime I walk by in my garage. Oh well.
  34. C

How do I open the driver/passenger door with the FOB?

Wait, so there's no way to open the driver door with the FOB, unless I turn on the option that opens the door automatically when I walk up to it? Doesn't that defeat the entire purpose of being able to use the FOB, if the door already opens automatically when I walk up to it? This makes zero...
  35. C

How do I open the driver/passenger door with the FOB?

Every other FOB function works fine. Trunk, Frunk, Falcon doors...all good. Every thing I read or watch about the Model X FOB shows double clicking the top of the FOB to open the driver door, then again to open the passenger door. Triple click to close all. Triple click to close works, but...

Could someone help me understand SGIP?

Ok, I can definitely hit 3.75 for 15 minutes. Thank you for the clarification.
  37. C

Could someone help me understand SGIP?

Hmmm..since my Edison report just lists each 15 min as "Usage(Real energy in kilowatt-hours)", how would I even go about determining the kW instead of kWh?
  38. C

Could someone help me understand SGIP?

Running my 1 of my 2 AC units continuously only puts me at about 1-1.5 kilowatt-hours for the 15 minute range. Not sure how I would even get to 15/15mins. I don't have an EV (yet).
  39. C

Could someone help me understand SGIP?

How does this calculation work? If I pull my energy usage in 15-minute increments, do they look at one 15-minute increment, or the sum of 4 consecutive 15-minute increments to get a full hour?
  40. C

Could someone help me understand SGIP?

I think I get the calculation now? It uses the continuous power available, each Powerwall is 5kW continuous, so 2 is exactly 10 and under SGIP residential, and 3 would be 15kW and therefore Large Scale? If that's the case, Tesla should be able to submit the Large Scale for me even if they ran...

Could someone help me understand SGIP?

Ok, they must have covered that in the first 30 minutes when the link they had posted wasn't working. They changed the URL and by the time I joined it was nothing that cleared any of this up. As far as Large Scale, the SGIP site states it's in Step 3: Large-Scale Storage Step 3 Energy...

Could someone help me understand SGIP?

I spoke with Tesla and they read me their SGIP eligibility requirements, and it specifically stated Residential SGIP was 1-2 Powerwalls, which is why I was asking if purchasing 3 pushed me into the Large Scale Tier where Tesla would not yet have run out. They didn't have a definite answer. It...

Could someone help me understand SGIP?

I was considering installing 2 or 3 Powerwalls in combination with a Solar roof. I have read that Tesla ran out of SGIP allocations and is no longer submitting them. I also read that SGIP funds we replenished in early 2020, not sure if that is the case? I also read that you could submit the...
