Vendor 🚀GIVEAWAY! Teslaunch New Model S Sunshade Product Drop: Join Our Test Program

Thank you again for sending the sunshade. I received it a few days ago, but didn’t have time to try to install it until today. Unfortunately, I does not seem to fit my Model S (2023), as it is not wide enough. Perhaps it was designed for an older model? Pics below. It’s too bad, as...

Speedbleeders for TRACK PACKAGE Carbon Ceramic Brakes

I don’t know the answer to your question, but maybe one of these things could help you? I got one not too long ago and find it pretty useful: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B003FJW0GK?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1

Anyone received UWB (Ultra Wideband) phone key functionality on Refreshed MS?

I got a ‘23 ultra red and got it. I’m on 2024.8.7. My 2020 model 3 (which my daughter drives) just got 2024.3.10 yesterday, which has the full self driving trial. I need to ask her if she got the wideband key- not sure if her hardware supports it.

Anyone install the Twraps PPF on their rear fenders?

I’ll answer my own question here too. It turns out the stuff I had on the handle was the plastic that came on the car. I realized this when I looked closely and noticed that 1 of the 4 handles didn’t have it. When I ordered the wrap for the fenders, I also went ahead and ordered the door...

Anyone install the Twraps PPF on their rear fenders?

So, I’m going to answer my own questions here. I got the Twraps large size in 10 mil thickness and did the install today. The large size is bigger than the PPF that comes on the car, and also includes a piece that you can add to the bottom. The 10 mil film seems a lot thicker than the stuff...

Anyone install the Twraps PPF on their rear fenders?

Took a trip to Joshua tree a couple weeks ago, and the PPF film that is on the cars rear rockers got pretty beat up. Thinking about replacing it with the Twraps stuff. They have regular size and large size as well as 2 different thickness (8 or 10 mil). I assume 10 is better? Is there any...

AMAZING! I hope to join you with my Ultra Red S sometime this year (I promised myself that I would wait to wear out my stock tires before upgrading).

Master Thread: Definitive 14-50 NEMA Outlet Guide

Thanks to everyone that contributed to this thread. I replaced my Leviton outlet with the Hubbel 9450A yesterday. Background: when I had solar installed in my home ~4 years ago, I had the solar guys install 2 Nema 14-50 outlets (on 2 different 50A breakers) in my garage, as I knew I would be...

First Drive with a Steering Wheel on a Model S

I’ve driven both, have the wheel. I prefer the wheel, in spite of the slightly reduced visibility of the dash. But I agree with what the OP said about the yoke- it sort of is a defining characteristic of the car. When I got my car, and told my friends about it, the first question they...

Door handles used to auto present when unplugging car, but after recent update no longer do it

See the quote below. Maybe it’s not correct behavior, but it does make sense to me. If I unplug the car, generally that means I’m about to take it out. But, if I’m passing though the garage (we keep a freezer in there, tools, etc) to get something, I don’t want the car to wake up. It’s...

Door handles used to auto present when unplugging car, but after recent update no longer do it

2023 S Plaid. I set auto present handles to off when I’m parked at home. It used to be that when the car was plugged in at home, anytime I unplugged the car, the handles would auto-present. After the second to last update (don’t remember the number, but current version is 44.30.7), this...

    Model S 19 inch Non-Tempest Wheel Covers

There was a thread about this a few weeks ago. I like them and think they look a little better than the stock wheel covers, though they still have room for improvement, looks wise. Before getting them, I was using my wheels without covers. I like the color of the wheel covers, though I am...

Replacing cabin air filter and cleaning evaporator fins in 2021-2022 MS

Thank you all that have contributed to this thread. I ordered the dam material as well as the filter sock. I got the dam today and installed it, just waiting on the filter sock. I’m in SoCal, and we’ve got rain predicted for the next few days, so hopefully I’ll be ok with the dam for now...

Aftermarket wheel covers for Model S?

Full size pic of the side view with logo. I think I can load one full sized photo per post and still come under the software limits. Note, I aligned the bottom of the T with the valve stem.

Aftermarket wheel covers for Model S?

Ok, the center caps finally came in and installed. Took some pics, but the lighting sucks. I’ll post em anyway: I am really liking the black. I may still try the bronze, but probably won’t get to it until after the holidays. (I had to upload as Medium sized photos, as the software told me...

Aftermarket wheel covers for Model S?

I got the wheel covers in today, and the plastidip. But unfortunately, didn’t get the centercaps, which will come tomorrow. I tried one out on the car to see how it looks. It looks great, IMHO. Showed my wife who said I should leave it black, since it matches the trim, and that the bronze...

Aftermarket wheel covers for Model S?

Thanks for the pics and the links. It gave me an idea. I bought the covers and the T logos and some bronze plastidip. Im going to plastidip the covers when I get them, see how they look on my ultra red car. If the color doesn’t look good, should be easy enough to remove back to the black...

    Homelink disappearing / GPS freezing

Got my car back today (apparently, the service dept is open 7 days a week, even though the official office hours list is as closed). Notes are listed below. Hopefully this is the final fix. I think, per the California lemon laws, if it isn’t fixed this time, I should be able to return the...

    Homelink disappearing / GPS freezing

I have Verizon on my cell phone. I parked in the garage at work today and noticed that I had bars in the car for internet service. Nonetheless, when exiting, the GPS was frozen. Went into service mode and noted no GPS satellites, but did see cell service. After driving for about 10 minutes...

    Homelink disappearing / GPS freezing

Thanks, will do. It happened today at the parking garage at work. I will check what the reception is like there. It is a new job, and I only go in 1-2x per week. 2 of the times that it’s happened were after leaving work. But it also happened after leaving my home garage on 2 occasions...

    Homelink disappearing / GPS freezing

Well, here we go again. Everything was working fine since my last post up until last weekend. Started getting multiple freezes. Seems to happen after the car has been in a garage for a while. When I exit, GPS is frozen and persists for about 10 minutes or so until it comes back. Has happened...

    Take this poll

Ok, I’m only a few months into Model S ownership, so I may be out of the know here. In my Model 3, all you had to do was tap the battery on the screen to switch from miles to percent and vice versa. One finger, easy. On the Model S, the battery gauge is on the dash in front of me, and not on...

Weird: Charge door opens randomly, but only at one location

Update: Today I picked up my son at the same place, and the charge port door did not open. Weird., considering it happened the last few times I was there. BUT, earlier today, we went to Costco, seemingly like everyone else in SoCal. Since it was so crowded, we parked way out of the way...

    Floor mats suggestions

For my Model 3, I got cocomats (former 911 owner), which looked great, as I got blue to match the color of my car (See photo below). Not cheap, but very good quality. Thinking about getting some for my Model S in red at some point.

2023 S. GPS quit after couple weeks. Waiting 40 days for part normal?

My experience is posted in post #4 above. Based on that, and what I’ve read from other posts here and elsewhere, it seems like fixes are: 1) Replace GPS antenna (and make sure it is corrected properly, as happened in my case) 2) if that doesn’t work, replace GPS computer/harness They also...

2023 S. GPS quit after couple weeks. Waiting 40 days for part normal?

Check the post I linked to above. Service center fixed it for me by removing paint from ground connection, and loose (soft set ) connection on antenna. Could be contributing to your issue maybe?

DI_a042_pmfMIA code in service menu. Anyone know what this means?

I looked into my service mode today and found this error, which seems to have been occurring on multiple days. My search didn’t find anything, and the car seems to be driving normally. Is this something I should be concerned about? Time to schedule a service visit? Car is a 2023 Model S...

    Ultra Red touch up paint

Id like to know too. I may order from them and take the risk. I have used it for the blue on my Model 3 and it worked well. Not completely invisible, but good enough at 5 feet. I got a scratch on my fender- completely my fault, I think it was from the rivet on my jeans- and I would like...

Front License Plate Holder on refreshed Model S

I took mine off on Day 1. Fishing line as described above, plus goo gone to remove the adhesive residue, then some cleaner wax to make it look nice. I did get a license plate wrap for the front, which I like as it works with the lines of the car and is removable if you need (I put it on a...

Model S Refresh Roof Tint (Baking in the South Florida Sun lol)

I recently posted about this. The guy I use for tint said that: 1) could potentially crack glass 2) tint would void the Tesla warranty, so if it cracks would be an expensive fix, and 3) noted that it would be a difficult install due to the size of the glass. He didn’t want to do it, and I...

How long did it take you to get used to the stalk-less turn signals?

I think it works just like a paddle shifter, where you activate with the index or middle finger of your hand. Left side turns on left blinker, right side turns on right blinker. May be a bit more “natural” to figure out, especially when the wheel is turned. It seems like a clever idea that...

How long did it take you to get used to the stalk-less turn signals?

Where did you put the turn signal buttons? Im not sure I understand your description above (same position as where the gear paddles would have been- do you mean on the back of the wheel?). Do you have a pic?

How long did it take you to get used to the stalk-less turn signals?

I don’t have any issues with it. In fact, I prefer selecting on the screen as opposed to via the stalks on my Model 3.

    Tinting the roof?

Hmm, I suppose that could be an option. I assume you would wrap on the outside? It would definitely block out the sun completely. Ive decided Im not going to do the roof, but instead buy a sun shade for the summers. I see Tesla sells a one piece, and on Amazon there are mostly 2 piece...

    Tinting the roof?

Yeah, I have no issues with my model 3. Doing some more googling suggests that tint may not do much on the roof of the S, as it’s already does a good job blocking the heat from the factory, and I may be better off not adding additional tint and just getting a sunshade for the hotter months...

    Tinting the roof?

I got the windows tinted on my 2023 S the other day, but didn’t get the roof as the guy didnt have a big enough piece to do the entire roof and had to order it. However, he just called me and told me that he heard that on the Model S, roof tinting will cause the glass to crack and will void any...

Weird: Charge door opens randomly, but only at one location

Weird: Charge door opens randomly, but only at one location

2023 S Plaid. One of my sons is in a rock climbing program that meets weekly. They have 2 buildings on opposite sides of the large parking complex: a main gym, and a training center and they alternate locations each week. When I park at the training center, and only when I’m at the training...

    2017 TESLA S --- GPS STUCK

I had an issue with my 2023 within a couple weeks of purchase. I took it to Tesla and they replaced the GPS antenna. Worked for almost 2 weeks, then suddenly it stuck and would not get unstuck. Took it to Tesla, and they ran some diagnostics found a lot of resistance due to paint on the...
