    Inexpensive winter wheel/tire setup

Yep. I have some hard to find 73.0 rings that were loose. 73.1 perfect.

    Inexpensive winter wheel/tire setup

I went with the DR-80 19X8.5 (40) with sensors from Tesla. The hub ring is actually 73.1 and easier to find if you take all the parts to them for assembly. I had to retorque the wheels about 4 times before they settled in.

ABRP radically underestimates cost to charge

I just did a trip from central Washington state to Salt Lake City and back. The cost was a real wake-up call from the same trip two years ago in an M3. The average for the round trip worked out to $0.39/kwh making it equivalent to an ICE car getting 31 mpg. The real savings comes from the very...

    Road Trip Starting Charge %

Don't over think things. You will not get 300 miles on one charge. Leave your place with enough to get to a half way supercharger and leave that one with enough to get to a supercharger near your destination. Same coming back.

    Winter tire choice

I have one season using the PA4 104V. They ride nice and are quiet.

First long trip in a MY. Am I being overly cautious on ABRP?

I've found that program to be slightly more conservative than the car's trip planner. While trip charging on a Supercharger, I'll plug in the next Supercharger as a destination and head on once it's showing a 20% or better SOC reserve to get there. Less nail biting in case you meet headwinds, go...

Model Y - Snow Tires Recommendations

I went with Michelin Pilot Alpin PA4 255X45X19XL from Costco, bought a set of TPMS sensors direct from Tesla, and a set of inexpensive 19X8.5 wheels from Discount Tires who put it all together. Needed some matching lug nuts and hub adapters so I can swap out whenever I get around to it. Using...

    MYP 2021 range: ~190 miles on a 90%-charge. Normal?

Charging the phone?? How about turning the screen brightness down? Our MYP uses 225 Wh/mi around town and many of our freeways here on the left side are posted @ 80. More speed means more power. Simple.

    MYP 2021 range: ~190 miles on a 90%-charge. Normal?

Just finished a 1553 mile trip from central Washington to the Salt Lake City area with a 2020 MYP Stealth (non PUP). The car averaged 320 Wh/mi with most speeds 65 to 80 and hitting the Superchargers 16 times in 4 states . Left the house with 100% and did a 208 mile leg arriving at the first...

    Coilover upgrade

I took a different path with the wife's MYP (Stealth). By dropping to an 18X8 wheel with a higher profile tire, not only did the ride improve but the curbing issues went away too. Got the whole package from Tirerack with sensors and tax for $1,870. The OEM's are in the shed. Enkei Hornet 18X8...

Any option for "stealth" performance, perhaps an "off menu" option?

Both the Stealth and the PUP have the spoiler. The Stealth is plain vanilla LR beyond that. That's why I've got the Gemini's.

Any option for "stealth" performance, perhaps an "off menu" option?

Here's the wife's Stealth riding on 18's to soften the ride. A full up set of Geminis are just sitting around if anyone wants them. She drives it in Chill mode.

    DIY Spare Tire Kit

Skepticism or "perfect fit" it's not. It's a matter of fact. It's about fit and safety. We don't need to read about wheels coming off of Teslas.

    DIY Spare Tire Kit

Did the fit check. The Tesla hub calipers at 2.525" and the spare at 2.6+ and looks like this first shot hanging on the hub. More importantly, this next shot is with the Tesla OEM lug nuts snugged up to center the wheel. It clearly shows the lug nut threads are not fully engaged. The spare uses...

    DIY Spare Tire Kit

I put a caliper to the spare shank holes. Looks like 0.745 width and 0.50 depth. The closest available shank (mag) nuts using 14mm X 1.5 threads comes up with a Gorilla with a 0.75 D X 0.74 W. which is probably too long without washers. I'll check the studs when changing out wheels/tires on...

    DIY Spare Tire Kit

I don't see it as a centering question but as load distribution. The spare doesn't have a fitted centering ring, so with the conical lug nut, the load is carried at the ends of the lug bolt. I'll do a fit check Monday and see if the OEM lug nuts are even engaging all available threads. Using...

    DIY Spare Tire Kit

I picked up one of the Equus spares to find it uses a flat style lug nut unique to the model. Using a conical nut to hold things in place seems a little sketchy. The closest mag lug nut to the shank size of the wheel I've found is the Gorilla standard 14mm X 1.5 but the shanks is a bit too long...

MY LR 19 Inch winter tire setup

I picked up PA4's with a 104V rating from Costco last month. Washington state

Owned a Model Y LRAWD VIN 27xx and now a VIN62xxx--Night and Day.

I'll echo that too. Our 20xx Stealth has no problems at all.

19" Michelin X-Ice SNOW - Has anyone got them?

Costco is careful in matching the model for the correct tire. I got 104V.

19" Michelin X-Ice SNOW - Has anyone got them?

I put a set of 255/45/19 PA4's from Costco on Friday. Seem to run quiet as the OEM. Using a bit more power. 265 vs 245.

    Vibration in Steering Wheel.

A worsening condition with steering at higher speeds is a red flag issue. If the wheel torques don't pan out, you should get it into the shop where it can be checked on a lift. Alignment, steering unit, etc.

    Vibration in Steering Wheel.

I would check wheel lug nut torques first.

    Key cards not unlocking doors

Tried it on mine. Learned I had to pull the door handle and a message came up on the screen to use the card. Found the active reader about 2-3 inches below the camera which seemed different from the M3 I had earlier. Anyway, it unlocked fine.

    Sentry and auto door locking

I have a Model Y performance with 2020.16.3. The cabin protection A/C is on therefore the security alarm option is grayed out. Sentry is on except home. Wife goes to store, parks and goes into the store. I look at the app and the Sentry shows active but the car shows unlocked. Any ideas why the...
