    M3P or Long Range

I too had the same dilemma 3 months ago as I was ordering; for me it was simple, Im not taking the car to the track, I'm not a consistent hard driver (every once in a while tho :-) - and Im not a fan of needing BOTH summer and winter tires; I went LR - have not regretted it, saved the 8K - threw...

    LR AWD Waiting Room

It's really cool to see everyone that had ordered a few weeks after I did (7/5) now starting to get their cars or being on the verge of getting them; Today was the 1 month anniversary of me picking mine up - and I'm just as excited every day to drive it as I was back on 8/15; I don't...

    New Range Question

yup agreed; and one more thought ...... I only have 800 miles on my car so far and have yet to completely get a sense of wether I am going to stay at 45, 42 or even 39; the car @ 45 does ride harsher than the rental I had before I committed to buying the car; I hadn't taken particular note of...

    New Range Question

Or I could listen to this guy - I think he knows what he is talking about ..... AND once again - I NEVER said that maxing your PSI maximized efficiency .... nor did I say it correlated!
  5. jschmitt3

    New Range Question

can we please tone the attitude down; my point was simple; check the PSI of your tires; know that there is a max, understand what the car is recommends on the door sticker; mine came to me at delivery at 38; the door sticker says 42; they are max rated for 51; i set them to 45; No need to...
  6. jschmitt3

    New Range Question

    I never said to "max" your PSI - my tires PSI' came from delivery 4PSI below what was on the inside of the car sticker; For my 19 inch sport wheels - the car said 42; they came at 38; the max PSI for the tire on a Tesla is 51; I have placed mine up to 45;
  7. jschmitt3

    New Range Question

a few things to keep in mind / ask: 1) what PSI do you have your tires at ? Tesla typically defaults them to a few PSI lower than what the tires are max rated for; higher PSIs will give you better efficiency but will make the ride a little more "hard" 2) over my first 800 miles, I have...

Wiki Model 3 Order Tracking Spreadsheet

It will vary from place to place - the way mine worked was: "contactless" just meant that there wasnt someone sitting with you in the car going over the operation of the car; they left us alone once they opened the car for us; they did check in with us every 10 minutes or so and they did...

MASTER THREAD: Removing marks from white seats

I'm not sure if this helps or not - admittedly, I've only had my white seats for 3+ weeks - but I have already had my first accident; a full large Starbucks coffee was spilled the other day ...... a basic baby wipe cleaned up them very easily .... 3 days later - and you would not know anything...

Taking delivery 3 weeks before battery day...

Folks - whatever big news comes out of Battery Day - it is more likely to be about stuff that is at least 3-6 months down the road; for 90% of us that have gotten excited enough about Tesla to buy one - a bigger battery would be "nice" but should not affect the way we feel about current cars...

Model 3s getting the Chrome Delete Treatment?

apologies - somehow missed the other threads! :-(

Model 3s getting the Chrome Delete Treatment?

Stories are circulating that Tesla is potentially looking at going full "Model Y" with the 3 in the sense of the Chrome being replaced with the black vinyl; Thoughts? Makes sense in trying to consolidate the Y and 3 production lines / parts .... but I'll be sad if there is no chrome option...

Did you guys shop around before deciding on the Model 3?

I had purchased a Lincoln MkZ 7.5 years ago (Hybrid version - and a very nice car); fell in love with the efficiency and relative "luxury" feel of that car; At that point the S was only out 12 months - but still a lot too rich for my blood at that point. But the whole time, I drove the Lincoln -...

Is 8-12 Week Delivery Estimate accurate these days?

I really think its just something different ..... but I also think (although I like Chrome) that IF you get the Aero Wheels - something doesn't jive with the chrome as a whole; Me - I kept the chrome because I ordered the 19 inch sport wheels; with those wheels, I dont think a black chrome...

LOL - my first OTA update came down about 2 hours ago - so about 10 days after I picked up the car! It upgraded right to 2020.32.3! John

White interior - Should i get it? How well has your interior held up?

One other thing that is self-evident to anyone that has seen the white interior .... it is VERY WHITE; you will notice everything on the seats that is not that SAME color .....
  23. jschmitt3

White interior - Should i get it? How well has your interior held up?

I too ordered white (only have had my car for 10 days) - the white is awesome looking ... and yes I have had a chance to use the baby wipes to clean up a spilt Starbuck's beverage .... Cleaned up very nicely .... not sure I'd want these types of stains going unattended for long .... I think...

How long is "normal" for the first OTA update?

Sorry if this has been addressed elsewhere - not immediately finding it ... How long has everyone waited (typically) for your first OTA update ? I picked up my TM3 on 8/15 and my software is at 2020.11.105 ...... WiFi signal in my garage AND outside my garage is excellent ..... But nothing...

    LR AWD Waiting Room

So, I'll throw my experience into the mix here; at the beginning of the process, my SA definitely told me to upload POI into the "My Account" section on the website for any car that I currently own; they did indicate that this was not required but would help "expedite things"; (not sure I buy it...

    LR AWD Waiting Room

keep an eye on your text messages; lots of people report they heard about the car via Text from Tesla before the SA got back to them; i heard that my car was ready to have a delivery scheduled via text; then the SA reached out!

    LR AWD Waiting Room

i ordered on 7/5; got vin on 8/5; delivery on 8/15; original estimate at order time was 8-12 weeks but these windows are very dependent upon your configuration + when you ordered + when in the quarter you placed your order; have you placed an order yourself?

    LR AWD Waiting Room

    we just took delivery on Saturday; love the white interior; it really makes the car "pop"; plus it makes an already surprisingly roomy interior feel bigger;

Is 8-12 Week Delivery Estimate accurate these days?

Since I started this thread - just thought I'd let everyone know - I did take delivery yesterday .... my original 8-12 weeks ended up being 6; but in talking to a Tesla SA - it's all about WHEN that order is paced in the window of the quarterly schedule; in my case (on 7/5) - roughly one month...

Picking up a model 3 tomorrow

Well - delivery went very smoothly - only 2 small issues with the car 1) a very small paint nick on the hood at the front tip - only saw it after I opened the hood ... 2) a minor mis-alignment with one of my rear tail-lights .... Both items will be corrected by my local Tesla service center when...

Lease vs Buy for Model 3 - could you please convince my thinking

Re-Echoing a lot of what has already ben said here ..... briefly looked at the leasing options myself - but the inability to buy the model 3 after 3 years makes no sense unless you only intend to hold the car for 3 years; in which case- i'd put as little money down except for what Tesla requires...

Similar story - I reached out to my SA today and he informed me that Tesla had just shipped out a couple of batches of my particular configuration and that he expects the car to arrive in 3 weeks or less; ordered mine on 7/5 - LR AWD, Red, 19inch, White Interior John
  39. jschmitt3

    LR AWD Waiting Room

I ordered a red, LR AWD with white interior + 19inch wheels back on 7/5; no Vin yet - but am hopeful that I will have one this week at some point; i went back and forth on the options for home charging but ended up shelling out for the Tesla Wall Charger; we wanted the extra 15 miles per hour on...

    Gen 3 Wall Connector

Is the "80% rule" a function of the TWC - or an issue with the way a circuit of a given amperage works in real life?
  46. jschmitt3

    Gen 3 Wall Connector

I have another question for the group ... If I have a M3 - Tesla says the Wall Charger (TWC) can charge drawing up to 48A; do I need to install the Tesla Wall Charger on a 60A circuit to get the 48A throughput or would a 50A circuit work and also get me the the full 48A throughput? I have...

Picking up a model 3 tomorrow

Raro - first off, congratulations on your pickup today; I am still patiently waiting for mine as well; To your question ... Tesla is a little different from other manufacturers in that when you place an "order" its not a true "customer order to build" scenario; People are not matched to a VIN...
