Vendor Model 3 Battery Pack/Module Applications Discussion

Yep I've dug into that quite a bit. It's just that the cheapest batteries are the ones with one bad module or some other damage of some kind. Always looking for ways to build the largest battery with the smallest budget.

Vendor Model 3 Battery Pack/Module Applications Discussion

Do you have any experience with the LFP modules? I'm curious if they can be broken down into 48v or smaller modules.

Nearly brand new 90 kWh Non-Ludicrous battery pack, v3 - LIMITED TIME

So what is the ballpark price on an upgrade like this. I have a 2014 p85d with 149k miles on it. Actually still charges to 244, so it's doing pretty well for it's age and mileage -- still can't help but wonder.

Service says $22k for new battery on 2012 Model S

I certainly do not know this to be a fact...but...I just assumed that the Tesla power walls were made with used cells from their packs that they replace. Does anyone know if the cells in a power wall are brand new? I don't know if I can make the numbers work out for me but when my Tesla...

I replaced my own battery heater

I'd say it took around 3 hours total (less time if you are familiar with removing the frunk trim and other stuff under there -- it was my first time). You do have to remove quite a few things to access it. I'm 6' 1" and it was quite a difficult reach to unplug the battery heater from the...

I replaced my own battery heater

Okay. I disconnected the 12v and then the responders loop, waited about 15 minutes and bam! I'm good to go. Running like a champ. Thanks for suggesting. I never would have thought of doing another disconnect since it was disconnected the entire time I was working on it. I guess it needed...

I replaced my own battery heater

Thanks. I'll give it a try and report back. I couldn't get an appointment with Tesla until March 4th so this will be most helpful if it works.

I replaced my own battery heater

I will try that, although I did have both of those disconnected for a couple of hours on Sunday while replacing the heater. Does order in which it is done make a difference? Sunday I unhooked the 12v first and responder loop second. Also when you say "make sure to wait 5 min", do you mean I...

I replaced my own battery heater

Not a bad idea. I live over an hour away though. The plan now is for a mobile tech to stop by the hospital where I work and reset it. Will this cost me more than if I took the car to the service center? Also they aren't coming until March 4th. That seems like a pretty lengthy wait for such...

I replaced my own battery heater

It was really cold recently and I got the warnings- car may not restart and acceleration and top speed reduced -- also no regen. Tesla remote diagnosed it as failing battery heater and quoted me $705. My car is out of warranty so I bought a used battery heater out of a 2018 model S and...

2015 Model S 90D Problems. Any others similar experience?

Wow. That's a great thread. A lot of useful info in there. Hopefully I will get an OTA update from tesla before I do my battery heater replacement. However, It's good to know that I have another option to redeploy if I don't. Thanks

2015 Model S 90D Problems. Any others similar experience?

I'm trying to make sure because I am about to replace my battery heater in my own garage. Did Tesla tell you that they would not update your car for you when you replace parts yourself? Maybe it was just the way it worked out for you, since you didn't know you needed a software redeploy until...

2015 Model S 90D Problems. Any others similar experience?

So you are saying that they charged you $375 just to do the software redeploy? How can that not be something they do for free? What if you have new software waiting to be installed? Maybe that would take care of it? Anybody know?

2015 S Dash, Frunk or Suspension Rattle

Thanks very much for the offer. I'm actually not replacing my end links at this time. I was making more of a general comment about how it would be nice if Tesla made it easy to order and purchase their parts online. The online parts catalog is actually very good, and it is set up in a way...

2015 Model S 90D Problems. Any others similar experience?

I had the same codes come up on my 2014 p85d last week. My story here Battery heater diagnosis . I suspected the battery heater -- tesla ran a remote diagnostic eval and confirmed battery heater. It seems that a failing battery heater may be intermittent. Mine seemed to work later when I was...

    Battery heater diagnosis

Thanks for the info. I think I'm going to replace it myself. I bought one on eBay that's out of a 2018 for $55. I'll let you know how it goes and I'll be sure to report any tips or tricks that I learn in the process.

    Battery heater diagnosis

It's really cold now. I keep my 2014 p85d in the attached garage (around 60 degrees). Monday morning my 50 mile commute was in 7 degrees F. Car did okay since it was in the garage. It sat outside for the next 10 hours in the temps ranging from 7 to 10 degrees. When I left work the temp was...

NHTSA asks Tesla to recall 158,000 [now 135,000] vehicles for eMMC failure. Voluntary Recall issued

Maybe there's a slight possibility that Tesla is denying these repairs because they know that something bigger is coming from the NHTSA recall and they don't want to be replacing something they just repaired a few weeks before. Wishful thinking I suppose.

Model S Technical / Mechanical Issues

That's a great idea to ask for a sub forum here since there's already a lot of eyes on this site. I hope we can get it done. We are definitely on the cusp of high demand for diy repairs as model s cars come out of warranty coverage. I certainly hope to keep mine going as long as you have.

Model S Technical / Mechanical Issues

[QUOTE="ajbessinger, post: 5267837, member: 143751" Thanks for the great write up. My car is a December 2014 p85d. So it's kinda like a 2015 model year. Is it one that may suffer from this condition?

Will Tesla remove FSD from used inventory?

One reason they could do that is to sell me a car.

Will Tesla remove FSD from used inventory?

Has anyone had any luck getting Tesla to remove FSD and lower the price on their used inventory? The used car prices are finally getting down to were I feel they should be, if they could be reduced a little more after the removal of FSD.

    How I price a used M3

I really don't take resale value into my calcuations because I tend to drive cars until they die or at least until the resale value is negligible. Just had an interesting thought about FSD and resale: Why would anyone pay $8000 to add FSD to their current car? If you own a 2018 M3 AWD without...

    How I price a used M3

You forgot about the $10k down payment. However, I would expect the depreciation to slow down as it ages. In 2023 with 100k miles I would expect it to be worth more than $10k but I'm not sure how much more. My point is that either used prices are too high or new prices are too low (only...

    How I price a used M3

It seems some of you are taking what I said differently than how I meant it. I'm not saying someone should sell me their used model 3 for less than they could sell it to someone else. That's silly. My post was less about how much people should sell them for, and more about how much people...
