up - there's still just the 1 peak window that you can set. Another change is there's no longer specifically a "backup only" mode in the app. Alternatively this is achieved by setting the backup reserve percent to 100% in either of the remaining modes - self-powered or time-of-use. This sadly...

my install was a year ago this month. Didn't get PTO until December.

I have 2 4-ton units (13-seer I think?) for a 3000 sq ft (2-story) home, and went with 8.16 kw + 3 PW2. Also note - I have SRP, not APS. I'm not familiar with APS price plans with with SRP I need to have 0 usage between 2-8, and this week is basically the real test, but should be fine. My panels...

here's my repo for controlling the powerwalls (and honeywell thermostats if desired) using only built in python modules. https://github.com/bchristian14/powermgr_v2 Currently requires auth token to be created manually, and stored on disk, and then will refresh it indefinitely (so captcha...

    Arizona Powerwall Installs

Looks like captcha is gone (for now), but I'm testing a version with getting a token manually, first time, and then using the refresh, which will mean only doing captcha once (theoretically ever). Should have everything refactored by end of the week and will share.

I see these little blips from time to time as well, but not always necessarily at the start of a peak period. Even in the summer a 0.1 kW average will only be about $2 if I'm not mistaken.

Tesla erroneously issued 1099 for $5100 to a number of customers. I got an email last week that they would be issuing A corrected 1099 and mailing it out feb 5th. I did also receive a1099 from srp for the 3600 rebate.

    Arizona Powerwall Installs

I think they erroneously issued 1099's to people that bought powerwalls as opposed to only those that received them free from referalls inventives.

    Arizona Powerwall Installs

Did anyone else that bought one or more powerwalls in 2020 receive a 1099 for $5100 of income from tesla? I've seen a few other reports on reddit. It looks like this is what you would expect if you got one free from referalls, but I haven't referred anyone. Customer service, as usual, was not...

Hey the oauth on the repo I forked broke because tesla deprecated the endpoint and moved to a new auth mechanism. I'm not that familiar with it, but it looks like yours still works... Got any suggestions? Edit: nevermind, saw your post above, I'll check it out! Thanks!

The demand charge is only for using demand during peak hours. The e15 plan is probably better. While the per kw demand charge is higher, it is averaged over the peak days of the period. So, for example, in summer, when it's $20/kw of demand, if you have a day where you run out of battery and...

Wow, by comparison my install and complete lack of communication I got doesn't sound as bad, though it was still awful!

I didn't implement holidays in my automation (yet), but did manually set backup only which results in charging if necessary, and then exporting.

I actually just got it working up in AWS Lambda, and use eventbridge to cron it. Still running it 6 times a day (3 on, 3 off) 7 days a week, because eventbridge & cloudwatch run in UTC, so there could be a situation where on season changes (i.e. 5/1 and 11/1) it doesn't change properly, because...

Yeah there's no reason it needs to run on the weekends, but I already account for it in python so I didn't really care about fixing the from schedule. I actually should've probably made that a variable so if someone does have weekend peaks it would be easily changed. Instead of changing backup...

@blueice89 bchristian14/tesla_api fork of the tesla_api repo with `power_manager.py` added. Edit for clarity: I forked the tesla_api repo and wrote a power_manager script to check if the current date/time is within a peak period (already configured for SRP's pricing schedule, but easily...

    Arizona Powerwall Installs

@blueice89 I actually decided to write my own. It looks like your code still has remnants sticking around unused or relating to the old local api, and I also found the tesla_api for the cloud that seemed a bit neater, and has instant results by calling the mode change (toggling between...

    Arizona Powerwall Installs

Awesome! I actually setup the peak checking logic all in python myself after using the lock apis successfully, and then when I finished I tried again and realized the token expired and couldn't get a new one again, so just gotta figure out the cloud api calls, but shoot looks like you already...

    Arizona Powerwall Installs

Finally the day has arrived and my system is activated as of Saturday! @blueice89 are your API calls still working? I was messing in python for a bit, but it looks like local api that I was planning to use now requires one to toggle the PW power switch physically to get a token (and it expires...

@trautmane2 Woah woah woah, how do I get one of these "local project managers"?! I thought I only got a project advisor (out of vegas), who, like yours, has been awful at communicating.

sigh...so 22 business days have elapsed (since they finally scheduled my commissioning), and my commissioning was today, and it failed SRP inspection. Tesla did not have all the components labelled to SRP's satisfaction (specifically, they want a sitemap by the meter). Back to waiting for that...

    Arizona Powerwall Installs

Well, I got the actual appointment today, for Nov 12. I guess it is what it is. I think mainly my frustration came from being given expectations like "by end of week", and then multiple times "by end of day", which never happened, and when I would talk to both srp and tesla, and they'd both say...

And...now someone else that I talked with on the phone emailed me stating it would be 22 more business days for pto (yet they haven't actually scheduled a date for the final commissioning with srp). Timeline this far Ordered 7/13 Loan app completed 7/21 Lender DocuSign 7/23 Project advisor...

ugh...so just been told... "sometimes it takes 2-3 weeks to get approval from SRP, we're waiting on approval from SRP, this is in line, and plenty of other srp customers are fine, and you're still within the timeline, you're the only customer that is calling in every day for an update" The...

    Arizona Powerwall Installs

Anyone have a lot of issues actually getting PTO? For 2 weeks SRP was waiting for Tesla to provide the cert. in leiu of inspection, since my municipality didn't requrie one. I had to call tesla over and over to get them to send it. They finally received it, and SRP by end of the day sent out...

Thanks @BrettS! Very helpful! I calculated for 3 PW side by side, I will need 118" min. width, and 63" height (assuming 6" bottom clearance; 12" top), plus another 36" height above the PWs where the GW & other equipment will go. @dhskiracer71 Thanks so much for linking to the actual bill! I...

    Arizona Powerwall Installs

I looked it up and it seems that batteries are not listed in the renewable energy sales tax exemption, so I think I may have been mistaken, and that I do in fact have to pay taxes on the powerwalls. Another question - do you guys have the PWs installed in your garage? how are they holding up in...

    Arizona Powerwall Installs

Just got my purchase agreement, and it looks like they're attempting to charge sales tax on the powerwall portion of the purchase. I thought powerwalls/batteries were exempt from AZ state sales tax? Anyone else have insight/experience on that? Thanks!

    Arizona Powerwall Installs

Thanks again for the details! I don't have smartthings or hubitat, but I did find that there's some API available to access locally on the powerwall gateway, so, being in the field, I'll try my limited programming experience to write my own alerting (and maybe tie into my thermostats). Plus...

weird, the numbers don't seem to exactly line up (I would expect peak + offpeak to = total), but I think I get the idea. Thanks so much!

    Arizona Powerwall Installs

Essentially, I used 60-65kWh on-peak quite a few days last week, when it was > 110 out (and I think we accidentally did some laundry during peak too). If I have 40kWh in battery (3 PW), I'd need another 20-25 from a combination of my 8kW system, or reducing consumption (possibly turning off one...

    Arizona Powerwall Installs

ah I meant your total peak/offpeak usage, including whatever you use from generation & powerwall (so I could see how much peak you're mitigating with solar + 2PW). Not sure if there's an easy way to see that in the tesla app or not (how much power your home used from all sources between 2-8p on...

@Kenne74 can you share your peak kwh/mo you use in summer (regardless of source), and total kwh/mo. I'm at about 3500-4500kWh/month from june to september, with about 1000kWh of that each month in the 2-8pm peak. Thanks!

    Arizona Powerwall Installs

Wow @JayClark thanks for that incredible reply! We're looking at an 8kw system with 3 PW. Might end up a little close on cloudy days to get through peak, but when we replace our AC (next summer or two) it should reduce our usage a bit. In the meantime I can always schedule the upstairs AC off...

I'm in SRP territory and looking to install some solar & PW. @JayClark I saw your post about a 4kw system + 4 powerwalls. Reading your post - I feel like I have pretty similar power consumption to yours. I have 10-12kw peak demand in summer, and use about 1000kWh of peak energy in the summer...
