    Auto Wipers

Wow, decreased from 15 seconds? Like every 5 seconds or so? That's terrible. I don't have FSD either, lately I only get a nag every 1 to 2 minutes when using Autosteer. I'm on the same version software as you.

Anyone received the TCEQ $2500 Grant Money for buying an EV in Texas?

Woohoo. Got the check today. It took 7 months, but it came through.

Charging at Airbnb with Dryer Outlet During Colorado Road Trip

I recently spent five days in a similar location. The only available Level 2 charging was at a Ford dealership and I didn't want to leave my car there for five hours while it charged. Only other option was a 14-50 outlet at the local city park, which appeared to be a hangout for teens and I...

    Strange issue with USB

Biggest issue I have with music on the USB is that it lists songs multiple times. It might list the same song 20 times. It also will list the same album multiple times when looking at that screen. On the USB music folder, I have music sorted by artist folders, then albums under that. Is...

What mobile charger should I buy?

This^^^^ In my case, the Wall Connector was actually much less expensive than the Mobile Connector. My electric utility refunded me $250 for installing the Wall Connector. Also, I'm not sure that installing a 14-50 outlet in my garage would qualify for the tax credit, whereas installing the...

Anyone received the TCEQ $2500 Grant Money for buying an EV in Texas?

Thanks. I received the email today that my application had been accepted. Says to expect payment in less than 30 days, but may be extended up to an additional 90 days. It took them less than two months for you, so I'm expecting nothing less. 🙂 Six months since I made application. Wow.

    Link ABRP to Tesla map

What does abrp do that you can't just do on the tesla nav? I input the same trip on both and get the same charging stops with the same battery % at each stop etc.

Anyone received the TCEQ $2500 Grant Money for buying an EV in Texas?

I'm waiting for them to send me the contract. This takes so long. I've been approved by two reviewers over a month ago. I'm about to go on the road for a couple of weeks. When they send the contract, do I have to print/scan sign it, or can I just agree to it by returning email? I won't have...

Towed boat from RI to FL & Back

Just curious, have you driven the car without towing but with that cargo carrier on top? My experience with rooftop carriers is that they hurt efficiency as much or more than a lightweight trailer.

Tax credit 2024 [The tax credit discussion thread]

And, yet, Ford and Chevy issued Form 15400 at point of sale like required by the IRS and Tesla did not.
  11. A

Tax credit 2024 [The tax credit discussion thread]

You don't need the Form to file your taxes. However, if Tesla did not report your purchase to the IRS that's a different issue. Probably the easiest way to find out is to go ahead and file and claim the credit. The IRS will let you know if they reject it.

    Car wash?

It will last longer if you use a carwash solution to wash it with. I've used Mequiar's and others which do well. Dawn and soaps of that sort will remove wax pretty quickly.
  13. A

    Car wash?

Seriously? I've never heard of a car factory which waxed vehicles. I've had dealers use a wash and wax solution for make-ready on new cars, but it's good for a few weeks at most.

    Auto park/summon

I was struggling with it also. You have to drive under 8 mph and don't touch the brake. It helps to drive closer to one or the other. You can't drive down the middle of a wide aisle. Most importantly, it only parks parallel or perpendicular, no angle parking. Here's a helpful video.

    Auto Wipers

But, they can't do that because their research and development team is you and me. Instead of testing something in house before installing it, they install it and then let us test it for weeks, months, years.

    Auto Wipers

I agree that the Tesla has failed us "older drivers" in many ways in the tech department. My point was, we not only "embraced the technology" but we bought the Tesla for that exact purpose.
  17. A

    Auto Wipers

Talk about stereotyping. Why would an "older driver", or anyone else for that matter, buy a Tesla with it's inflated price if they didn't "embrace technology"? I'm 75 and the only reason I bought a Model Y was for the technology. For $30,000 I could have bought any number of vehicles which...
  18. A

    Auto Wipers

Therein lies the problem. In order to "get the software right", Tesla prefers to put it out there for their test group (Tesla owners) guinea pigs to develop. That's Tesla's whole approach on everything, throw it up against the wall and see if it sticks. A perfect example of that is FSD...

Software update 2023.44.30.8 hung up - Service Center trip required??

You have to enter "Service Mode" to do that. I don't recommend that. Just call Tesla and let them fix the issue. By now, they should all know what to do.

My Experience Taking my Model Y down to 0%

Thanks. I understand the purpose of it. But, no reasonable person would slam on the brakes in traffic because someone crosses 300' ahead at an intersection. I've just been lucky that someone hasn't crashed into my rear. Also, between home and the nearest city on a limited access freeway...

My Experience Taking my Model Y down to 0%

I'm on 2024.2.7 and my wipers still come on when it's sunny and clear. They still sometimes don't come on when it's raining. I'm glad that your's are working properly. Don't judge others' experiences by your own. For what it's worth, on TACC my car still slams on the brakes when a vehicle...

My Experience Taking my Model Y down to 0%

I don't think that's the issue. I've ridden motorcycles without wipers for a million miles. I don't need wipers on with a little water. My wipers come on when it's sunny and clear, yet don't come on during a rainstorm. I've read lot's of people on this website who say the same thing. I...

Anyone received the TCEQ $2500 Grant Money for buying an EV in Texas?

Thanks. Yeah, this is not the only grant program they have to administer. Probably only one or two employees assigned to this particular grant, and then only part time. The government is not known for being fast at any thing.

    Map

That seems to be the attitude in California. Just kidding. 🙂
  31. A

    Map

Yeah, that's the one shortcoming of Tesla maps. It's not like Garmin maps where you can zoom in and out for street level searching of street names. It doesn't show you the next cross street name, etc. I guess they expect you to use the routing feature to find locations. I like to drive along...
  32. A

    Basic cruise cobtrol

You can change TACC to set at your current speed instead of speed limit. That would act more like basic cruise control. That's what I use because I don't like going 75 mph automatically just because the sign says so. With this setting, your cruise control will set at the speed you're going...

When I signed up with Liberty Mutual, they had me put an app on my phone which logged my driving for 180 days. After that, I removed the app as per their instructions. At the end of the 180 days, I could receive up to 30% off my premiums. The app followed things like sudden stops, fast...

Nope, the license plate on my utility trailer is held on using zip ties. Probably the only one in the world, though, so I concede your point. 🙂

Tax credit 2023 [The tax credit discussion thread]

I filed and received credit for the charger I installed on my home. For some reason, my census tract qualified and all the ones around me did not. I think the intent was to encourage people in rural or lower income areas to buy and use EV's.

Tesla blesses other cars blocking two stalls due to short cord

I remember visiting California back in the 80's, seeing so many wind generators. What surprised me was that so many of them were not performing. There were generous incentives to build and install them, but virtually no incentive to maintain and keep them operating. Today, of course, is...

Anyone use the OEM front license plate holder?

I installed the OEM front license plate holder when I bought the car. It's perfect. No reason to remove it. It's attached using 3M VHB tape, just like nearly every emblem or side molding on every vehicle out there. It ain't coming off without some serious effort.

How to use streaming music card screen

While using the radio or some other music source, click on "source" and see if "streaming" is listed there. That's how I typically access it. This is the former Slacker or Live One I'm talking about.

Software update 2023.44.30.8 hung up - Service Center trip required??

Three different people tried to fix the problem on line and were unable. They scheduled a service visit 2 1/2 hours away. The next day I got a call from "senior" technician who had done several already and knew what to do, so did it ota. I've run into this before. Tesla should put out a tech...

Software update 2023.44.30.8 hung up - Service Center trip required??

I had the same issue. Bought my MYLR in November 2023. Finally got a tech who had been dealing with it, totally software related. He took over my computer and fixed it in about 1 1/2 hours remotely. Have had two updates since then, now on 2024.2 7

I also have a 2023 MYLR. It has about 2500 miles on it. I have it set to "Chill" and I drive it like an old lady, piddle around town never above 65 mph on the highway. The best I can achieve, even short term, is 270 wh/mile. Is it because mine is still new? Do you just turn the hvac...

    Daytime headlights

They make sense to me also. DRL was required in Scandinavian countries in the 1970's, the EU in 2012. They were banned in the USA until General Motors asked for an exception in the 1990's. Now, they are commonplace.............but not required everywhere. The industry will implement a change...
