    Your Model S Sequence

Hopefully they'll be able to keep their projections of 10,000 cars a year in their Model S production line. If that's the case, even with ramp-up time, they should be able to knock out 2k+ cars in 2012, and have the bugs out. Here's hoping.

    Your Model S Sequence

So potentially, if both Sig Edition rosters fill over the next 2-3 years, my 375th spot could be the 2375th(ish) car made.

    Your Model S Sequence

My understanding is that there are 1000 spots for the Signature Series, not that all of them have been filled. In fact, I thought I read somewhere that there were actually 2000 spots - 1k for US and 1k for the European market. I could be way off on that, though.

    Your Model S Sequence

The 897 number, under the current assumptions, is only for R and P, and does not include S. When you add the S's in, we're a good chunk over 1k.

    Your Model S Sequence

That would be great news for me, but unless there were quite a few signature models sold, I'm not sure that your number sequence works, unless a good number of people pulled out. I put my order in well after the 500 deposits number was announced (my guess is that my deposit was somewhere in...

I got P375. If anyone wouldn't mind bumping me into the R group, it would be most sincerely appreciated.... ;)

Dan Neil: Tesla S: a model citizen

Interesting. The 17" not making it would be sour for more than some, I would think.

    Model S in LA Store

This is what worries me. I'd be a fool to think that the (silver) car their showing is going to end up being $49k and change, but if there are a ton of options - bigger wheels, roof, push-button trunk, etc., then I'm probably going to get priced out of this thing. I've got an idea of what I...

    Model S in LA Store

I noticed when I was there yesterday that they tinted the windows pretty dark so that you couldn't see much of the inside. You could make out the steering wheel, but unlike previous pictures, you couldn't see the boards that were holding up what makes the steering wheel.

    Model S in LA Store

Just stopped by the LA store about two hours ago to show the wife what it looks like in person, and it's there. Franz was in the store, too, but I didn't approach him for any questions.

    Model S in LA Store

Must be that case with me, then. I put my deposit down at the Los Angeles store, and was told that I'd get notices on everything in this part of the country, but alas, no email. :)

Did you get this in an email, or did you find it on Tesla's website?

    Model S photos

These appear to be for the Roadster, whereas the Model S has all functions on the touch screen.

    crazy talk

Don't forget the front trunk, as well. It should hold a few more. All that weight will drag your usable milage down, though....

    Model S specs

My understanding, though, is that the 10k discount is only for Roadster owners who purchase a Signature series Model S, not the regular version.

Great video. Though I'm not sure why, it's eased my nerves a bit.

    Is the price realistic?

Though I agree with TEG that leather should be standard, the only one that I think might have to be standard in you list would be "Basic heating/cooling; not climate control". Don't they need that system for battery cooling, anyway, so why not pass that on to the cabin space?

    Is the price realistic?

    I agree with this 100%.

    Who ordered today???

Ah. Well I doubt that I'm 521, but here's hoping! (don't worry, I know better)

    Hot Weather

Well, I put in my order today at the Los Angeles store. I asked the sales person specifically about the Arizona heat, she told me that it wouldn't be a problem, but that it may slightly reduce my range, but will not affect battery life. When I asked her about yearly maintenance, and if there...

    Who ordered today???

I dropped by the Los Angeles store today to put in my order, and I mentioned the 500 and change number. She told me that she doesn't know where that number came from, but the sales folks in Los Angeles don't have any numbers to report. She did say that she knows that there has been quite a...

    Removable / swappable pack options?

Battery Swap Hi folks, I have a rather generic question on the battery swap theory. Will this five minute swap be a case of owners being able to purchase a second battery pack that's kept in their garage, or would it be more like an owner would need to drop by their local Tesla store and...

    Hot Weather

Interesting. Here's hoping that I don't have to restrict my driving my Model S to nighttime only in the Arizona summers.

    Hot Weather

Hi folks, In doing what research I could, I noticed that Tesla has a spot on their FAQ about how the battery systems handle cold weather. What I'm curious about, however, is how their system handles being in extreme heat. The issue is that my wife and I are planning on moving our family...

    Friends?

Thanks, efusco, for the support. I do understand that someone would be hesitant, especially about someone who only has one post (now two). I do have to say that I've been following Tesla since 2006, but since I couldn't afford the Roadster, I haven't taken the plunge into the forums until now...

    Friends?

Good afternoon, everyone. So even though the Model S has a long way to go until it rolls off the line, I'm sold. I was just about to throw down the deposit, and I starting thinking about the waiting list priority, and the family and friends piece. Now, I apologize if this isn't proper...
