For sale (2) Michelin PS AS4 T0 OE Model Y Performance Tires

Selling (2) 255/35-21 Michelin Pilot Sport All-Season 4 tires pulled from a brand new MYP. These tires were swapped immediately after vehicle purchase - the owner wanted 275/295 instead of 255/275 when they got their car. Delivery miles, probably less than 100. Full tread, showing zero wear...

    Punctured tire/question

With that said, it'll safely last the life of the tire. They just do.

    Alignment question

It's amazing that these cars even have camber adjustment in such a way. Most cars have camber that comes out of the factory perfect. Teslas must be assembled in a way that doesn't guarantee the chassis is straight every time. I had to increase the adjustment range of the upper control arm mount...

    Damage to leather while cleaning

It looks like the white has been transferred on to the black door panel. Try a magic eraser (gently) to remove some of the material. Or even a wet microfiber towel to start off. If you use a shoe polish, you'll be dying whatever the white stuff is, instead of removing it.

AMD Ryzen upgrade for older Model Y [none offered]

Nearly 2 year old thread... Might as well say now that no, there will never be a retrofit for this.
  7. fiehlsport

    Alignment question

PDF worked for me. Be aware that these camber adjustments barely change anything. If you're off half a degree, you're not going to have that much range of adjustment.

Tiny paint scratch on my new model Y- can Tesla help with repair?

They sell a $60 (?) touch-up kit for DIY'ing it in the accessories store online and in your app. It is pretty comprehensive, with buffing cloths, a microfiber towel, the paint, squeegee, and buffing solution to flatten the repaired area.

    L2 Amperage Reduction Over 90%

Yes, but I suspect you're way above 90% in that pic. Tap the range to set it to percent and never look back. It'll go down to 1kW around 99%, if I recall correctly.
  10. fiehlsport

    Alignment question

Totally normal, especially at 32k. The rear camber is not adjustable, and the front is only just. If the the tires wore evenly from left to right, and the car drives straight, I wouldn't mess with it.

Tires: I installed the 21" Sailuns on my MYP - Happy so far

The company is Chinese but the tires are made in Vietnam. I did notice a low-200Wh/mi 20mi round trip yesterday, but it was random slow around-town driving, not a controlled test by any means. Next week I'll have the car to drive on the highway a bit more to get some efficiency data, hopefully...

Tires: I installed the 21" Sailuns on my MYP - Happy so far

Installed a set of 21" Sailun ERange tires on my MYP yesterday. Factory fitment, 255/35-21 & 275/35-21. Got all four for sub-$600 wholesale... couldn't say no when just two Michelins are over $750. We are putting a lot of miles on the car in a short time this Summer and I saw no reason to blow...

Model Y - vehicle 4 weeks old already 2 tire punctures - warranty coverage?

True - I didn't catch that one. :-) And it might be possible with an interior patch if drilled out correctly, but definitely not a DIY plug kit. Still would have to see if the belts were sliced much to make a safe determination.

Model Y - vehicle 4 weeks old already 2 tire punctures - warranty coverage?

I haven't seen a single tire in this thread that couldn't be safely patched with a DIY plug kit from Autozone that would last the life of the tire.

Rusty (yellowish) liquid coming from center of the both front wheels

Yep - and I've noticed on some aftermarket wheels (and a few OE Tesla for that matter) they are cast out of round, so the face of the wheel spins slightly "oblong." The wheel is still "true" but the spokes aren't properly centered, so there is an imbalance before you even slap a tire on. It can...

Gen 1 High Power Wall Charger - TPN 1011831-00-D won't charge 2023 MY?

Those original wall connectors, much like the original Model S, really were a science project inside!
  17. fiehlsport

Rusty (yellowish) liquid coming from center of the both front wheels

Yeah - that's a wild amount of weights! And that's only the face of the wheel, there could (Should, most likely) be another strip on the back too. Since it's a Michelin, I'm guessing it's the wheel that is wildly out of balance, or something was off during the mount/balance process. Each tape...

    Squeaky tire/wheel

I have personally only experienced it on low profile tires, since they tend to put more pressure/movement on the bead area than a taller, floppy tire would. But I've also only seen/heard this on the Michelin Primacy MXM4, and the Michelin PSAS4. Other manufacturers may use a different label...

Stock Negative Camber Intentional by Tesla?

I've never considered it much either, but what you're alluding to does make sense, at least at a cursory glance. More negative camber = less tire on the road. Which may equal more efficiency... When you square up the camber, there is more rubber on the road in straight line driving, which...

Rusty (yellowish) liquid coming from center of the both front wheels

Your aftermarket wheels are allowing water through the hub-cap, trapping it, causing rust, and the water is slowly seeping out. Did you pressure wash the wheels recently? I know this area isn't meant to be water-tight even on factory wheels, but the aftermarket caps probably have a little more...

Stock Negative Camber Intentional by Tesla?

Used tires with low tread are more efficient than brand new tires. But at 500mi you should start getting it back again. The EVO AS is more of a touring tire than the Eagle F1, so while it will handle worse, it should be a bit more efficient, like-for-like, once broken in and worn down a bit.

Paint flaws on brand new March 2024 Model Y, Deep Blue Metallic color

I can't believe they even had you make a service appointment, it's not like they're going to actually paint there. This is normal. I've had non-Teslas like this. Obviously it's a measure to save on paint costs, I wouldn't give any manufacturer flak for doing this. There's no reason to spray and...

Wall Plug Over Heat Issue - Better 6-50 Receptable? (Using Mobile Charger)

I've used the cheapo Leviton 50A receptacles for years. Wired and torqued correctly, they worked fine for me before I hardwired my wall connectors. I also never unplugged the EVSE much, the receptacle wasn't worn out or loose. But I'm just one guy, and I know it was installed correctly from the...

    Comfort Suspension Details

Ironically, comfort suspension doesn't mean it's actually comfortable, it's just more comfortable than 2022 and earlier models. No adjustment possible, different shock absorbers will make the ride more compliant, the way it should be on a MYLR.

    Squeaky tire/wheel

Really all that is needed is for a shop to deflate the tire on a machine, push the bead down (Some machines have a press-arm for mounting low profile tires), shave off the barcode with a die grinder bit, then re-inflate. No balance or demount necessary. You could try requesting that, maybe it...

Charging speed with wall connector and MYP

Bigger car, less efficient, less miles of charge per hour. Use kW though - it actually tells you the speed the charger is delivering.
  29. fiehlsport

    Squeaky tire/wheel

It's the barcode label on the bead of the tire. 21" MYP Michelin tires do this too occasionally. You will need to have the tire removed and the barcode shaved off to stop the noise. Sometimes it goes away on its own after 5-10,000 miles, other times not.

    Wall Connector L1 to neutral = 49V, L2 to neutral = 120V, L1 to L2 = 61V

Nice fix. Unfortunate that your electrician isn't having any luck with Eaton breakers. I've been charging for many years on Square D QO and Siemens breakers without issue. But now that you've got a good breaker it'll probably work for many years.
  32. fiehlsport

    TPMS on non factory wheels

Whether you run 19, 20, or 21" on the Y, it's still going to look for 42psi. There's no way to change the threshold.
  33. fiehlsport

    Wall Connector L1 to neutral = 49V, L2 to neutral = 120V, L1 to L2 = 61V

Sorry - I meant just probe the bars with a multimeter as you have been doing with the wires.
  34. fiehlsport

    Wall Connector L1 to neutral = 49V, L2 to neutral = 120V, L1 to L2 = 61V

Test the bus bars on the panel, easiest way to know if it's breaker related or not. I don't see that you've confirmed the bus bars are both showing ~120V yet. But I'm assuming your house electricity is running as-normal, so they're probably testing correctly. Probably the breaker.

Best Tire Options for MYP in 2024?

I switched to 19" for the winter and I can tell you... it doesn't make much of a difference. :) My wife still hates riding in my car when we go on breakfast runs because our coffees get thrown around so badly in the cupholder!! I drove a BMW with 21" wheels and very thin tires the other day. It...

Best Tire Options for MYP in 2024?

The factory Michelins are already one of the best tires you can get. Increasing the width does nothing for curb rash protection. Bumping into a curb is going to damage the wheel no matter what, the rubber there is not structural. The factory tires have a protruding sidewall that the 295s lack...

Good year tires pop Tesla y

Inside tire wear is from the prior alignment. A tire, by nature, isn't going to wear more on the inside just because of the way it was designed. That's 100% on the vehicle. Your alignment cupped the Goodyears, and caused them to be noisy. When you got it fixed, you put a different set of tires...

Torquing Lug Nuts with Torque Sticks 120ftlbs or 140?

I've been doing 120ft-lbs for years. Before that, I was doing 92 on my Model 3. It was still tight and racked up plenty of miles before I actually learned the correct torque spec. 120 and 129 aren't going to make a difference.

    Real world alignment specs

Yep, adjustable arms will fix the problem, but it also extends your break-even point way into the future. It's usually cheaper to just keep buying tires. The adjustable arms, plus an alignment might run $500-600 depending on your shop. (Most charge more for custom alignments) That $500-600...

$89 Tera Level 2 Charger on Amazon

I would bet that if you actually look this product up, it is not UL or ETL listed. Chinese products can 100% lie about this on Amazon with no repercussions. They can stamp the product and the cord, but it doesn't mean anything. I guarantee you this is not approved or tested by any entity. Buyer...

    Aftermarket TPMS?

Do you think they are genuine but perhaps "gray market?" Yeah, the TPMS sensors that develop air leaks, at least in my experience, are from road salt corroding everything. Which no sensor would be immune to, aftermarket or genuine. When torqued properly, a cheap knockoff sensor usually seals...

    Aftermarket TPMS?

There are Original Tesla sensors on eBay for ~$130 new. $20 is hard to beat though, I didn't know of any aftermarkets that were in that range yet. Autel has a BT sensor now, but it's in the $60-70 range.

  46. fiehlsport

Should I change both rear tires?

Yes, this can even be patched from the inside with a patch/plug if you want to go above and beyond. But it's not necessary. A tire shop not wanting to do this doesn't mean you need new tires.
  47. fiehlsport

Should I change both rear tires?

Make sure you ream the hole out a lot with the reamer tool. It should be a decent sized hole when you're done. Then with the plug lubed up with some rubber cement, it should slide in with one strong push. If your kit didn't come with a reamer, use a drill and a drill bit at high speed and ream...

Should I change both rear tires?

I generally don't bother with cross-rotations either but have noticed that it does change road noise on a partially worn tire, must be due to the reverse-rotation of the tire that smooths it out again. Minimal improvement, if any, but if you have time to kill or are swapping your summer tires on...
  49. fiehlsport

Should I change both rear tires?

Get it plugged with a Walmart kit or a tire shop that is willing to take $20. It will never fail, and you can use the tire for another Summer. I would plug that in a heartbeat and not think twice about it again. Your inner tread looks pretty decent for the mileage, and I'm guessing you're not...

Model S seats in model Y?

Yeah, they look to be a bit larger as well, with more thigh support closer to your knees. I've heard that the new Model 3 Highland seats sit a bit higher off of the ground than the last-gen, this could be due to the blower for the ventilation feature. If so, I'm not interested, as a tall...
