How to get trade-in quote via the app?

Great information -- thank you. I did place my order and was then able to use the app to submit the 4 photos. Delivery is window is "Apr - Jun" so the 30 days will likely pass.

Sharing MYP towing range data w/ high loads

Thanks for the detailed information. When I pull a small utility trailer with a 1,000 pound electric golf cart on it, I lose about 60% of my normal range. Here in Florida (flat), it's mostly due to wind resistance, not weight. So if you had to pick a percentage, how much range would you say...

How to get trade-in quote via the app?

Thank you! That is what I needed to hear. They are saying delivery will be May-June (MY LR) and I realize the price range they gave me is not firm. When I get the actual offer, I will decide if I should take it or sell the car myself. I just wanted to be sure I wasn't missing a check-box or...

How to get trade-in quote via the app?

I am ready to place an order for a new MY and want to trade in my old MY. I received an estimated trade-in value yesterday. Just now I walked through the steps to order the new MY in the app, right up to the "continue" button that will place the order. But nowhere in the ordering process was...

Wiki [UK] V11 UI Changes and Features

After a couple of hours of driving my Y with version 11, I can say I really like the new UI. I did notice what I believe is a bug: if you have the seat warmers set to auto, and you turn on the windshield defroster on heat, it also turns the seat warmer to maximum. I wanted the windows...

Would you make this trip on a single charge?

As others have suggested, ABRP is a great tool for getting your confidence up that you have the range you'll need. FYI, it takes about 7 kWh to raise 2.5 tons (your car) up 3,500 feet. And you will re-coup some of this on the trip home.

    Home Charging Installations in NoVA?

FYI the 6 gauge wire used in my installation was not Romex. Not sure where you are getting that from.
  13. E

    Home Charging Installations in NoVA?

I used the Tesla search page and was very surprised I was only charged $350. That included the 60 amp breaker and 6 gauge wire (probably only 25 feet for my job).

High battery degradation from brand new MYP.

I wonder if the degradation is being calculated based on a bad assumed number. I say that because IF the capacity of a 100% battery was incorrectly assumed to be 79.00 kW then the math would work out to 7.1% degradation you are seeing: 73.4 kWh / (100% - 7.1%) = 79.0 kWh Of course this might...

ABRP radically underestimates cost to charge

In A Better Route Planner (ABRP) there is a slider that allows you to choose between quickest arrival, fewer stops or longer legs. I can see a similar setting to choose between quickest arrival or minimize charging cost or a balance of the two. Of course ABRP would have to have accurate charging...

Tesla Lost Over 20% Charge Parked for Three Days

7% per day has been my experience too. On average, that's a continuous load and losses of about 200 watts. It is what it is, but that's certainly more than I would have guessed for Sentry mode.
  17. E

Tesla Lost Over 20% Charge Parked for Three Days

I'm not sure it matters, but did you have a lot of Sentry events? As for that hot week over the summer, there is an option to maintain the cabin at 105 F even when parked. If you had that option turned on and parked in the sun, that would suck some juice.

First long trip in a MY. Am I being overly cautious on ABRP?

Interesting. I may have to look into "Scan my Tesla". I'm curious, what sort of values do you see for your car for the "Energy Buffer" ?

Blog Tesla Planning to Triple Supercharger Network

I hear you, and as others have pointed out, Elon/Tesla has certainly done impressive big projects in the past. And not to split hairs, but you should have divided by 24 months, not 36 (2 years, not 3).

Blog Tesla Planning to Triple Supercharger Network

    >> Tesla currently has about 29,281 Superchargers (about 30K Superchargers, right?). >>The network has doubled in the last 18 months, and we are planning to triple it over the next two years. So if they’ve doubled from 15K to 30K SCs in 18 months, does triple mean they will have 45K (3 X 15K)...

ABRP radically underestimates cost to charge

It’s not just superchargers. As others have noted, we are starting to have non-Tesla charging options, CHAdeMO today and CCS in the near future. Just like people pick their gas station based on small price differences (reason for those giant dollars per gallon signs), with more charging options...

ABRP radically underestimates cost to charge

In a Sept. 8th post from an ABRP employee on their forum, they admit that there prices for charging are "rather rough estimates" and that they are trying to find reliable updated prices to use in ABRP.

Does anybody adjust their charging amps using app?

I didn't know you could reduce the charging amps from the app. How do you do that? I have done it from the car's touch screen when charging off of a V3 wall charger fed from our whole house generator. Charging at the full 48 amps caused some voltage fluctuations so I dropped it to 20 amps (I...

First long trip in a MY. Am I being overly cautious on ABRP?

1). There is a free version of ABRP and also a Premium version ($5 per month or $50 a year). Premium adds things like real time traffic and real time charger availability. 2). Yes, you can use ABRP on the Tesla screen. I just recently saw that ABRP had enhanced their web interface...

First long trip in a MY. Am I being overly cautious on ABRP?

Tesla navigation works fine but I like being able to see all my charging stops when planning a road trip. The Tesla navigation only tells you where your next charging stop is. Also, ABRP gives you more control over the assumptions, which may be different on a road trip than for your normal...

First long trip in a MY. Am I being overly cautious on ABRP?

I too have a MYLR, now with over 25k miles and have taken several long road trips using ABRP. Based on my experience, yes, you can trust ABRB. Looking at your numbers, you are doing what I did my first long trip: Adding a safety margin to multiple parameters. You already are specifying you...

Charging off whole home Generac generator

We just installed a 22kW Guardian Generac generator. My Tesla wall charger normally pulls 48 amps when fed from the electric utility. But when on the generator, it ramps up to about 20 amps and then hovers there, swinging up and down a few amps. This does cause some low frequency flickering...

Wall Charger v3 50 amp to 60 amp

Not to split hairs, but breakers are designed to handle 100% of their rated current continuously per the UL standards. But the NEC calls for 80% derating for continuous loads. Again, I'm just telling a story here about my friends experience, not making a recommendation.

Wall Charger v3 50 amp to 60 amp

My friend had a v3 charger installed and commissioned for maximum power output (11kW / 48 amps). The documentation recommended a 60 amp circuit, but the electrician only had a 50 amp breaker. He charged his car at full power for many hours before the electrician returned and replaced the 50...

    Range calculations and towing

My real world experience, towing a flat utility trailer with a golf cart on it, my range drops by 60%. Weight is over 2,000 pounds, but as others have said, the aerodynamic drag is more significant than the extra weight. And if you are going to need to charge on your trip, you need to figure...

    Tow Range

I just completed a 11.2 mile trip with my MY LR with a 1720 pound trailer and a 900 pound golf cart. My range was reduced by 55%. So instead of my usual, real-world range of about 275 miles, I would expect a range of only 124 miles. Actually, it's probably a little worse than that, as I drove...

A little more information on my experience with my MY LR tracking left of center on 2 lane roads: When my car is left of center on two land roads, the visualization display on the screen shows that the car left is left of center. That means the car knows what it is doing. That is, this issue...

    Tracking left of center

Is it possible there is something wrong with our cars? That is, are others NOT experiencing this same tendency to drive left of center in the lane? If you're reading this and your car drives in the center of the lane consistently (as I think it should) please speak up. I have occasionally...

    Tracking left of center

My MY tracks in the center unless there is a car in the adjacent lane. Then it tracks to the left, moving closer to the car in the adjacent lane. This is just the opposite of how I drive -- I tend to move right of center to give a larger "safety margin". Has anyone else observed this behavior?

Tesla Releases $2,000 Model Y Acceleration Boost, Shaves Half Second

Well if you want to talk physics, the energy of motion for a car going 60 MPH is 1/2 X Mass X Velocity^2. How quickly you reach 60 MPH doesn't change that. Off course with greater acceleration you have greater losses, but once you are at cruising speed, physics does not indicate the boosted...

Acceleration Boost Buyers: What do you think?

    MY 12V inverter capacity?

Good idea on using the trailer hitch wiring -- does not require modification of the vehicle. Wouldn't there be a 12v fuse protecting this circuit? The rating of that fuse would put an upper limit on maximum safe amperage.

VIN Assigned, But No Delivery Date. Time to Pay??

I ordered my Y on July 31st and my VIN was assigned today. Yippee! Tesla is telling me to pay and provide proof of insurance now. Is this the sequence others have gone through? I may be a little paranoid, but I would hate to pay and then get a delivery date 3 months from now. Thanks in advance

    19" Gemini vs 20" Induction

Thanks for the link, but if you read the article, you will see it states that the towing capacity is 3,500 pounds with 19" wheels, but only 2,300 pounds with 20" wheels. That's a 34% reduction in towing capacity.
