We have a pretty severe thunderstorm right now and have lost grid power. What is odd is that the strikes are causing blips of up to 1.2kW of solar. Is that normal during the flashes to see pulses of solar generation?

Are any of the strings going over 10amps ? I’ve got two of the inverters in close proximity under the roof in a non ventilated space and they do just fine.

+1 to @Mark_T. National Grid / Ever Grid moves at snail pace. I would hedge a bet this will take 6+ months before being approved.

I’m curious how they will handle local requirements, like National Grid in the NE, that require a second meter to measure the solar generation. According to the folks here, that is an issue, one that was over looked. As of now there is no solution hence they are continuing to install Gateway + PW.

I was told one PW Plus will support an additional 2 PWs. What happens beyond 3 is unclear.

I’m pretty confident but will check, I actually pointed it out as the breaker size was different to the “as design” but the local inspector didn’t care. They used copper #8 THWN which is good for 50amp.

We are having three of the larger inverters installed right now. Below is a picture of the MCI that gets installed for every 3 panels (has to be at the start of a string). This is how they get rapid shutdown.

The spec sheet mentions Ethernet yet I can’t see any rg45 port. Anyone had any luck hardwiring one of them?

Mostly due to them being part of the original spec. The challenge with going Tesla Inverters is the runs from the panels will be ~150-200ft long which isn't ideal when dealing with DC. They're going to have to come up with a creative solution. I'd also heard they were "better" but that I guess...
