    Canada - FSD rollout

Now that I have the beta (fun!) I'm driving like myself again, which means my safety score for today is hang on... let me look... 72.

    Canada - FSD rollout

There's no clarification about anything, unfortunately, but it is very unlikely that it's a rolling 7-day requirement. The "next 7 days" language was in that post because at that point they/we assumed that there would be a 7-day safety score period at the end of which the beta invites would be...

    Canada - FSD rollout

Apologies, but this is in fact the opposite of the advice I gave. If you get a forward collision warning on a low-km day (so low that your FCW penalty is capped at 63.3), you should park your car, not drive it again that day, and get in lots of clean kilometres the next day. Remember that days...

    Canada - FSD rollout

What is very unclear about this is whether this means that we Torontonians won't get FSD for the time being, or if we'll get it (if we otherwise would) but won't be able to use it downtown. This makes a huge difference to those of us wanting to stop worrying about safety scores for a while. So...

    Canada - FSD rollout

Here is a counterintuitive but (I believe) true thing: you would have been better off just parking your car and not driving it again until tomorrow. I figured this out when I had a forward collision warning (plus hard braking event) that brought my daily score down to 31 (!) for that one day...

Is it okay to switch the side mirrors to wide angle?

You don’t lose the defrosters, but you are correct about the dimming function.

Is it okay to switch the side mirrors to wide angle?

I can’t comment on the legality of it, but I installed wide-angle mirrors (these) and I can advise that they are awesome and you absolutely do not need an installer for this job. It’s extremely easy.

    hannshow

They’re great. The view is amazing, completely killed my blind spots. Installing them took seconds. I did not use any tape or shrink wrap on the unused dimmer connector, I just tucked it behind. I strongly believe it will be fine. None of the connectors on the OEM mirror are waterproofed...

    CCS versus CHAdeMO in Canada

We traveled from Toronto to the Maritimes (Nova Scotia and PEI) and our CHAdeMO adapter was essential, especially in Cape Breton. We used it at FLO stations, which are the only (semi-)fast option in many places. As far as I can recall, all of these stations had CCS as well.

NEMA 14-30 Adapter wanted in the GTA, Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia or PEI

Might anyone have a 14-30 adapter for the Gen 2 mobile connector that they aren't using? I'd love to buy it. I need it for a trip in a week and that's not enough time for it to get to me from the shop in California. I could pick it up anywhere between the GTA and the Maritimes (since that's the...

    No audio from rear speakers

2021 MYLR. Not sure exactly when this started, but today I noticed that I have no sound at all coming from my rear speakers. If I fade the balance all the way back there is only silence. The issue occurs with both Bluetooth and streaming, regardless of the immersive sound setting...

That pin absolutely needs to be in the hole. Tightening the knob prevents rattling; it is not enough to keep the rack safely installed. Have a look at this to see if the hitch measurements are correct for your rack: Hitch Fit Tips. I had the same concern about my Thule Apex XT 4, but then I...

How COMPLETELY useless is the dashcam in the Model 3?

It’s freaking brilliant. Beautiful and capable and maybe a decade ahead of the competition. But, like everything else in the world except Neapolitan pizza, not perfect. If you look at the software in your Tesla and see wasting time with fart noises instead of serious software development, I...

Major panel gap issues 2021 Model Y

I hope they can help you with the A-pillar. You can likely fix the hatch yourself. Had the same issue myself, and fixed it perfectly by unscrewing the black adjustment knobs on the underside corners of the hatch a bit. That’s what they’re there for.

    Best 4 Bike Rack

I like my Thule Apex XT 4 (no swing). Previously I tried a Yakima FullSwing but it didn’t fit very well on the Y and I very quickly decided that the swinging feature was more trouble than it was worth to me. Sound system popping noise - MYLR

Yes, I have had a half-dozen or so episodes in the two months I've owned the car where the stereo pops frequently, accompanied by flickering camera views and some other UI jankiness. A reboot always solves it until the next time. It hasn't occurred since 2021.4.18 installed, but that was just a...

    Driving slow or fast??

Driving in normal mode and accelerating hard won’t affect your battery capacity at all. It just doesn’t do that. And accelerating hard has much less effect on fuel economy than it does in gas cars. The speed you drive will significantly affect your energy consumption but quickly accelerating has...

[UPDATED] 2 die in Tesla crash - NHTSA reports driver seat occupied

Driver initiated lane change during NoA

This is incorrect in my experience with my Y. So long as you keep holding the stalk in the half-pushed position it will execute the driver-initiated auto lane change (when safe to do so). I do this frequently while on NoA. If you hold the stalk for only a few moments it may start the lane change...

Is there any safety reason NOT to drive with an empty passenger seat buckled up?

Yes. The ghost of the man you killed on that dark road when no one else was around so many years ago rides silently with you everywhere you go, and he finds it less comfortable with the seatbelt buckled.

    Crazy thought?

That's loony. Even if we assume an Evil Prankster Tesla, why would they punish you for repurchasing it? I mean, they ended up where they wanted to be, with you paying for the upgrade. If anything, EPT would punish you as soon as you returned it, by, I don't know, making it so emissions testing...
