Yes, it says it was issued a few days after I picked it up. I got the car through my business so it's the office address and not my home address...not helped by the fact we were all working from home at the time but the other post was delivered ok. I'll contact Tesla and find out what's happened.

Ah get you, so the third party server just polls the car and hopes for the best then. That would make sense. Looks like they are polling every 10-15 seconds though. That's pretty good. I wouldn't fancy relying on that if the car was stolen to be honest - it could get jammed quite easily...

But you insure based on the VIN don't you? I get why they would want to change it but doesn't that effect you taking the car away if they suddenly spring it on you it's changed?

I've not even got a car yet so can't confirm but I'd bet that's because theres no actual GPS satellites and therefore no location data for that section, rather than the mobile signal. I can't see Tesla pinging the data out continuously in realtime to their servers, especially in this country...

Thanks for the info. Yes, I rang them and they were very helpful and gave me the reg and VIN. I have a software company, so I think that's made me naturally jaded against the 'process'. 😄 Would my car be on that shipment as well then?

Answering my own question. I rang them and it was allocated a few days ago apparently.

Hi all, I've got my car scheduled for delivery on the 24th at Birmingham. When can I realistically expect the VIN number? I was told I'd get a text but to be honest I'm not overly convinced it's as smooth as they make out sometimes! Cheers
