    FSD experience

Has anyone else experienced weird speed changes while on FSD on an interstate? Today on I-75 where speed limit is 70 MPH, if the car camera picked up a “40 MPH MINIMUM SPEED” sign, the set speed would change to 40 MPH, if no traffic was around me. If other cars are nearby, it was display the...

    First Time EV Buyer (Help...)

Overcome your worries and go for it! We are in the southeast US, and drive a Model 3 long range. Around town, short and long road trips. Supercharging is hassle free on the longer trips. Nice to get into the car with cabin preconditioned. One pedal driving is amazing. Changed tires at 31;000...

Autopilot nags get worse and worse. Wish I had never updated from the day I bought it.

Autopilot, not FSD or FSD beta is what I’m answering to here. Yes, it much more sensitive now, it doesn’t allow me to scratch my nose without giving a warning now. I know Tesla was responding to government regulators, but this went too far to the safer side.

    Russia/Ukraine conflict

The F-16 is 9g capable only when the wings are clean, no drop tanks or weapons. Otherwise it’s capable of around 6-7 g’s depending on the configuration. Something to consider, their physical limitations for pilots may not matter.

    Supercharger - Gonzales, LA

While we were down in south Louisiana and along the Mississippi Gulf Coast area, we never got the full charge rate at any SuperCharger. I attribute that to the temps over 100F and the charging cable baking in the sun. The car was under 20% battery, preconditioned and all we could pull was 140...

    Supercharger - Gonzales, LA

I was in Gonzales this past weekend and the SuperCharger site is still the same - roped off and it appears it’s missing the main power transformer. In another development, Tanger Outlet mall has eight DC chargers (CCS) scattered throughout their parking lot, although none are powered up yet...

What do you think of the Tesla lawsuit regarding EPA mileage?

If range is your primary deciding factor about buying a Y, just view the many YouTube’s that do real world 70 mph range testing and see if that meets your needs.

    Russia/Ukraine conflict

I wonder why they don’t use a hybrid style propulsion, the existing Rotax engine/ jet drive while in open waters for good range, then switch to a silent electric drive when in enemy waters .

Anyone getting bored with their car since there are few performance mods?

Buy a wrecked, totalled Plaid that is still drivable. Then instead of modifying it with add-ons, put it on a weight reduction plan. Then you have to consider that it’s a track only vehicle. But it could be fun a the local strip.

How much should the HOA charge? (I'm the HOA president)

I realize you are proposing cheaper alternatives, but with an EV pulling full load the whole time it is charging (hours?), I would not trust a “tough” switch or a timer plug. I agree that it doesn’t need to be an elaborate system, but I wouldn’t skimp on the electrical components.

Going on first road trip (around 285 miles one way).. New owner.. Just a few questions. Thanks

Other considerations: leaving with a lower % battery may actually speed up Supercharging, as long as you have a sufficient “buffer “. And do you need extra battery % for driving around at your destination, you may want to consider that when charging at your last charging stop. And always have a...

    Windshield replacement

The day I drove the car home from the service center I had the front cap, hood, side mirrors and behind the wheel wells covered with PPF and the windshield was done at the same time. The whole job was $3600. And that was done in 2021. I don’t know what just the windshield would be.

How much should the HOA charge? (I'm the HOA president)

Take a look at Plugzio Plugzio | Affordable, Simple, Scalable EV Charging. Similar to the Orange Outlet solution, but tailored more to multi-unit dwellings. This would allow 110v charging and bill the user directly. We are in a condo with limited electrical infrastructure and it’s our only...

EVs Fall Short of EPA Estimates by a Much Larger Margin Than ICE in Real-World Highway Testing

Why couldn’t the EPA create a whole new metric, just for EV’s? Something like kWH per mile for city/highway. Mpge is useless to me.

Charging outside Tesla network is only for the braves!

I feel bad for your experience, it’s not helping the transition to EV’s when others read this. It seems to me that Bosch is closely related to VW, which gave us DieselGate, which led to ElectrifyAmerica here in the US, and all of its headaches. We need a better end-user experience...

    Using a CCS Combo Adapter

CCS is a great backup to the Supercharger network, but functionality can be clunky. I stop charging on the EA cabinet, then go to the display screen in the car to disconnect the charger plug. Then go pull the whole assembly out of the charge port. Then discon the adapter from the CCS gigantic...

    Windshield replacement

Another option is to try a PPF film designed for windshields. I put Xpel film on my Model 3 and it has probably saved a few cracks twice in 20,000 miles. The only thing that was needed after the film installation was to change the wiper blades to silicone blades.

Back when I was on the flight line, working on F-16A’s and B’s, we had one landing gear failure to drop down. This was an early issue and resolved by General Dynamics. The one case I recall, the pilot pulled negative G’s and everything was good. True failure of the landing gear from a weak...

Trying to have ev chargers at my worksite.

Ask for multiple level 1 chargers or even a few outlets. And I agree they should be located wherever the electrical service is most convenient, which may be further out from the building. Don’t mention “free”. With a normal eight to ten hours of the vehicle at your workplace, level 1 charging...
