Supercharger - Okeechobee, FL (Yeehaw Junction)

I am curious about the peak load expected for the final build out with all 200 stalls providing charge up simultaneously. Its likely the local grid will need upgrading to support that load.
  2. L

    Supercharger - Morgantown, PA

Glad to see more Superchargers in the Reading area.
  3. L

Supercharger - West Palm Beach, FL - 6060 Okeechobee Blvd

This site will make it convenient for the Century Village retirement community across the road to recharge their EV if they own one, or consider buying an EV since local recharging is now viable.
  4. L

Supercharger - Staten Island, NY - Richmond Ave

Dinosaur362, To your point, I agree its tough owning an EV without home charging capability. If the political will is for EV proliferation, then politicians should push to get this SC completed expeditiously. EV satisfaction is greatest when home charging is available. In the meantime, more...

    Supercharger - Clinton, NJ

From the minutes, it looks like half of the stalls will be converted from Tesla-specific to general EV chargers.
  6. L

Supercharger - Cranbury, NJ - Forsgate Drive

That's a very convenient location for folks using the NJ Turnpike Exit 8A.

    Model 3 2023 rear window tint -

Can anyone recommend a good shop for tinting my 2019 black Model 3 SR+. I just moved to the Palm Beach area of Florida and the sun is quite powerful here. I would like a dark tint that is street legal. This would be the first time I ever had after market tinting so I really need guidance.

    Supercharger - Bridgewater, NJ

Its best not to antagonize the ICE truck owner by posting their license tag on the Internet. I've seen trucks just like that driven by Proud Boys at MAGA conventions.
  9. L

    Supercharger - Boca Raton, FL

The strategy of locating Super Chargers in busy malls is strange. Considering how quickly it takes to recharge, there is virtually no opportunity to leave the car plugged in while you go shopping. If you do, you risk being levied idling fees.

Supercharger - New Jersey Turnpike Rest Areas - Molly Pitcher & Joyce Kilmer

It's a shame the SC has to be out of service during the rest stop rebuild. Certainly power to the construction site remains in service as the rebuilding progresses. Although safety is always paramount, I have to believe that EV recharging and construction activities can coexist. EV commuters...

    Supercharger - Bay Shore, NY

    Any progress to report?
  12. L

    Supercharger - New Haven, CT

It's heartbreaking to see SC sites vandalized. This site could use 24 hour video surveillance as a deterrent to crimes of opportunity.
  13. L

Supercharger - Palm Beach Gardens, FL

This site will get a lot of usage. The nearby Palm Beach Outlets SC has 8 stalls and is often completely occupied, with folks waiting in queue for their turn. Tesla has certainly become popular in South Florida.
  14. L

    Supercharger - Bridgewater, NJ

There ought to be an ordinance that specifically bans ICE vehicles form blocking EV chargers. Common sense is not so common.
  15. L

Supercharger - Sun City Center, FL

Maybe change the map symbol from an orange cone to a blue dot if the construction isn't related to the SC.
  16. L

    Supercharger - Bridgewater, NJ

This SC should serve as a case study in project management on how not to manage a project.
  17. L

    Supercharger - Boca Raton, FL

Electric-donut, I agree with your recollection. I haven't been to the Town Center Mall in quite some time but I believe Tesla had level 2 chargers to support their own demonstrator vehicles. I was hoping this SC would be built because it would get a lot of usage. I know that in nearby West...

    Supercharger - Bridgewater, NJ

This location will be the butt of a lot of Jersey jokes. Such a shame.
  19. L

Supercharger - Big Pine Key, FL

The blue dot needs to change to an orange cone !!
  20. L

    Supercharger - Clinton, NJ

This location seems ideal for folks traveling between Long Island and the Lehigh Valley, especially since the Bridgewater SC seems to be in suspended animation.
  21. L

Supercharger - Big Pine Key, FL

The Florida Keys can surely use this and more SC sites. I can't imagine the stress I would have if I drove to Key West and found I didn't have enough charge to make it to the one SC that exists today in the Keys. The airport at Key West would be another welcomed site for a SC.
  22. L

    Supercharger - Boynton Beach, FL

Yes the Nav shows this SC as active with 16 available stalls. I haven't checked it out in person yet.
  23. L

    Supercharger - Bridgewater, NJ

Its really pathetic that this SC is taking so long to be commissioned and operational. I wonder what's holding things up.
  24. L

    Supercharger - Boca Raton, FL

It's been nearly a year since the permit was filed. Any news on this SC location?
  25. L

Supercharger - West Palm Beach, FL - Palm Beach Outlets

I just moved into the area and this SC will be my main source for recharging for the foreseeable future. All 8 were full but one freed up after waiting about 5 minutes. The Palm Beach Outlets offers nice shopping and restaurants, making this SC a great destination.
  26. L

    Supercharger - Hialeah, FL

The map still shows the orange cone. It needs to be updated to the red dot.
  27. L

    Supercharger - Monroe Township, NJ

Any progress to report? I am sure this site will get lots of usage once it opens.
  28. L

    Supercharger - Woodbridge, NJ

Please change the color of the map location dot from gray to red so map stays up to date.
  29. L

    Supercharger - Woodbridge, NJ

Hey mattwork99, it would be great if you could check out whether this SC is truly back online. If so, the gray dot should be changed to red. Until the Bridgewater site gets completed, this SC is the most convenient for Rte 287 travelers between Long Island and the Lehigh Valley.
  30. L

Supercharger - Orlando, FL - N Alafaya Trail

If the chargers are working, the map symbol color should change from gray to red.
  31. L

    Supercharger - East Hampton, NY

"Although we've yet to get onsite confirmation, it's also showing in-car, so it's probably safe to consider this one up." - TDreamer Agree. The SC shows on the map with posted rates for charging and idling. I don't see the harm in changing the orange cone to a red dot.
  32. L

    Supercharger - Old Bridge, NJ

From the pictures it seems nearly complete. I wonder what is taking so long to energize, commission, and make available to the public.
  33. L

    Supercharger - Bridgewater, NJ

It would be great if there was a municipal ordinance that would make it illegal to ICE an SC stall. Facing a stiff fine or perhaps points on your license should be a deterrent.
  34. L

    Supercharger - Hialeah, FL

Woo hoo!!! Construction started already. I wonder why its taking so long to break ground at Boca Raton and Boynton Beach locations.
  35. L

    Supercharger - Monroe Township, NJ

This location is in the JCPL territory. I echo the sentiments of alconiccf.
  36. L

    Supercharger - Monroe Township, NJ

It's great that you will be able to charge in the area without traveling on the NJ Turnpike. Sweet!!
  37. L

    Supercharger - Reading, PA

I appreciate any time a Super Charger is constructed. But for this area, a better location would have been at the Berkshire Mall in Wyomissing. The Berkshire Mall has ample parking, is convenient from Rte 222 and 422, and it has its own electrical substation so there is plenty of power for EV...
  38. L

Supercharger - Elverson, PA - Peter J. Camiel Service Plaza

I was travelling on the PA turnpike on Christmas day and noticed the SC pin on my screen showed this location as active. COOL!
  39. L

    Supercharger - Hamburg, PA

Utilities allow exceeding nameplate rating for limited durations. Continuously exceeding nameplate will certainly reduce the transformer life. I suppose the SC design anticipates heavy continuous usage.
  40. L

    Supercharger - Bridgewater, NJ

It’s a shame this location is taking so long to even break ground. It will be ideal for folks traveling between the Lehigh Valley and Long Island.
  41. L

    Supercharger - Carle Place, NY

Thanks Big Earl. My old iPad still shows Carl Place with an orange cone even though the community forum posts are current. My Win10 PC correctly displays the red dot. Cyber Monday will be the perfect time to replace my old iPad. Now I have the justification.
  42. L

    Supercharger - Carle Place, NY

The SC has been up and running for nearly a week but the map still displays as an orange cone. It should be changed to a red dot like all other available SC locations.
  43. L

    Supercharger - Carle Place, NY

Please change the icon from orange cone to red dot. Yea!!!
  44. L

    Supercharger - Boca Raton, FL

It makes sense that this would be for public use. The Town Center mall gets very busy and providing charging facilities is a win-win for the retailers and the patrons.

Why Do Electricians Charge So Much To Install EV Outlets?

For any of the professional trades, it always pays to get several estimates and choose the one that makes the most sense to you. It may not be the cheapest, but probably the one that comes with good referrals and performs quality work at a fair price. Although not for everyone, many DIY folks...

    Charger cable runs very hot!

Linkrad, your cable should not run so hot that it’s too hot to touch. I agree there is definitely a problem there. Hopefully your NEMA 14-50 installation was township inspected and permitted, otherwise homeowners insurance may not cover related fire damage. Sounds like there might be some...

US Government Support Needed for Home EV Charging

You really need government mandates or meddling for situations where private sector investment may not make sense but it’s in the national interest to do so. Having lived through the 70’s, I recall the economic pain caused by the Arab oil embargo and the government’s vow to lessen our...

    Reading PA needs a SC

The Reading PA area could use a Supercharger. An ideal location would be the Berkshire Mall. This popular retail establishment in the township of Wyomissing, is where Routes 222 and 422 meet. There is ample parking, shopping, and restaurants. There is even an electrical substation to serve...
