If your car has equity, why not just buy it out and sell to Carmax when you get a VIN? That equity isn’t going anywhere fast, and extending a lease flushes money down the toilet.

You wouldn’t receive delivery until April or May according to the dealer near me. But a very good looking car.

Correct. And you’re never really financing through Tesla. They use other banks. They probably even prefer that you finance as they likely get some incentives from those banks. Either way the revenue is fully recognized upon sale.

No rhyme or reason. There have been plenty of people with res dates later than yours who have been offered upgrades with “guarantees” of delivery this year. I guess I can’t hold out hope for delivery this year on my six seater.

Fully agree. Compare to the interior of the EQS (and ostensibly the SUV version coming out in the summer) and the X seems downright cheap looking. Hyperscreen is controversial but otherwise there’s no questioning that it places you in luxurious cocoon.

No right answer but some reasons in favor could be (a) increases the value of the car, some of which can be recouped upon sale, particularly if price of FSD goes up and (b) it can be financed when added to purchase.

If you’re a preferred customer of a bank you can also get good rates. BofA is offering 1.69

I just called the Customer Service number and used the Fremont zip code. The woman looked up my account and said there was no additional info noted on my account - no vin assignment date or anything else regarding vin/delivery, etc. I have a Red/Black LR 6 seater with 20" wheels and FSD. Seems confirmed from the S topics that there is no Bluetooth connection to rear display. So everyone in the car has to listen to Peppa Pig for three hours on the road to grandma.

I wonder how @sunnyvaletree managed to get a first 5 delivery slot with an order date of Feb 27? I would have thought there would be earlier res holders in the Bay Area with the same configuration, even pre refresh reservations.

I agree that I don't fold down the middle rows of my minivan neay as often as I thought I would. But I'm a little bummed about not being able to camp out in the Tesla like you can with 5 or 7. Seems fun.

Yep. I did the same thing. Given the insane used car market it’s often smarter to buy the car out of lease and then just sell it when you get the new car. Currently, I have about 10k of equity in my 3 year old Chrysler Pacifica. There’s no telling where the used car prices will go by the time...

Within a few years, every car will be an EV, but not everyone will be driving a Tesla. Some startups like Lucid or Rivian will succeed. most will fail. But it’s hard to imagine an indefinite future without excellent ev competion from Mercedes, BMW, Audi, VW, GM etc. I don’t think real choice is...
