Just got a random call from Tesla (Mt Kisco). They noted my delivery date was coming up and wanted to confirm everything was all set and I was ready to accept. No VIN yet but he sounded optimistic that my EDD (Oct 21 - Nov 10) would hold. Interesting they reached out.

Yep, agree on both. It’s actually hard to justify paying cash when rates are that low. DCU seems like more work than just going through Tesla, but worth it for the lower rate — assuming they stick around for another month or two (or however long I wait!).

Mine has been quite consistent for the last month+ too. It’s currently 10/21-11/10. The only recent change was it coming a little earlier a couple of weeks ago (before that, it was dates in November).

I haven’t gone back to check, but the delivery estimates for new MYs seem to have gone from January (or maybe February) to now April very quickly. I wonder whether that’s enormous demand, slowing production (maybe the transition to Austin), or something else, but it’s striking.

It seems like some EDDs are changing today. I released a hold on July 17. It’s been stuck on Nov 2-22 for weeks. Just changed to Oct 21 - Nov 10. Small victories…

It’ll all depend whether it’s based on order date or fiscal year too. The difficult decision will be, if it does look like it’s happening, whether to delay — I don’t know that I can bring myself to do it again.

That was one of the main reasons why I put a hold on my order before. At this point, though, I’m very skeptical that it happens, given that even the swing Democrats (Manchin etc.) don’t seem all that likely to support it. It’d be great if it happens though.

I’m not sure about NJ but there are some places in the Bronx/Westchester I was looking at — including Lorenzo Tint and Whipskin (Bedford Hills, not too far from Mt Kisco if that’s where you are picking up).

Interesting. I was wondering if I was just unlucky but it definitely sounds like the same thing. (Kicking myself for not taking the original car…I stupidly thought if I got assigned one in just a week or two, I’d get another one quickly!)

For what it’s worth, I get the sense a hold moves you to the back of the line (although the person doing the hold didn’t mention that at the time). I ordered 6/2, put a hold on a week or two later when a VIN got assigned almost immediately, removed it on around July 16, and now have November...
