Do I have LFP or NCA Battery? (SR+)

I have an LFP vehicle here in the US.

Do I have LFP or NCA Battery? (SR+)

In addition to the motor model, if you don’t have “daily” and “trip” on the charge limit screen, and your car weighs 4,658 lbs (GVWR on sticker at driver’s door), those are also good indicators of LFP vehicles. Note that the European manual states that the lack of daily and trip limits on the...

Do I have LFP or NCA Battery? (SR+)

Where did you find that on the Tesla web site? The US manual does not yet contain that section, but the European manual does.

    LFP battery in Model 3

There is a very good explanation in this thread — Is your US made SR+ LFP charging to 253 or 262? — that the US LFP cars already have the extended range but the display is not reflecting it.

    LFP battery in Model 3

The window sticker on my LFP car delivered last month shows 262 miles of range. I bet Tesla will eventually update the car so that the display eventually agrees with that.

Is your US made SR+ LFP charging to 253 or 262?

When I plugged in a little while ago, my app showed 263 miles as the range at 100%. This is a first, as it has to date shown 254 or 253. I did NOT have a software update. I’ll post again when it is done (probably tomorrow as it will not be done for nearly 7 hours), and include the charge...

    LFP battery in Model 3

I nabbed my LFP vehicle from the normal inventory page. I was helping a friend look today, and found two more LFP cars in my area (range 253) also listed on the normal inventory page. This is consistent with Tesla’s email to parties with pending orders that started this thread.

SR+ comes with what charging equipment?

This is another good reason not to get a wall connector. I’ve suggested to friends that the best solution is to get a NEMA 14-50 installed and buy the adapter (which used to also come with the mobile connector). A 40 amp circuit is sufficient as that will permit the mobile connector to provide...

    HVAC Vents when no passenger

Sometimes I turn on the passenger vent when no one is there, by simply touching the area used to direct the air. Is there a way to turn OFF the passenger vent once it is on when no passenger is present?

Why do I only experience positive Tesla service experiences?

I agree with the post that people with positive experiences are less likely to speak up. I had a defect in my charge port door at delivery. I made an appointment, the tech came on time, was very polite, and replaced the entire charge port in my garage in less than 15 minutes. He answered a...

Tesla seats vs Leather Seats (Mercedes, BMW)

Years ago you could get MBTex on any Mercedes-Benz in the U.S. For quite a while it was not available at all in the U.S. Now it is the base material on a few vehicles but still not available on higher end vehicles. In Europe, not only can you get MBTex on nearly any M-B vehicle, but they also...

SR/SR+ (Model 3 RWD) Waiting Room

I found an LFP vehicle in inventory. At that time you could tell the LFP vehicles as the inventory listing showed 253 miles of range. However, when I picked up my car, the sticker showed 262 miles of range. I expect all of the inventory listings now show 262. (I’m confident I have an LFP...

SR/SR+ (Model 3 RWD) Waiting Room

My LFP sticker shows 262 miles, so it may now be impossible to tell whether an inventory vehicle is an LFP or NCA vehicle without looking at the charge screen or checking the weight.

Discussion: Floor Mats in Model 3

After a lot of research, I got the EVAnnex mats. Unlike most all-weather mats, they are not a single expanse of black plastic. They have hundreds of divots that trap dirt and keep it off your shoes. I’ve had WeatherTech mats in several cars. They tend to get scuffed up, and I would regularly...

Buy advise: used lr or new sr+ 2021

Given the limited amount of driving you do, the range is not an issue. The audio system in the SR+ is fantastic. From the driver seat, I was unable to tell the difference between it and one in a performance.

    LFP battery in Model 3

I agree with most of this. Cost is the answer UNLESS performance, reliability, or the like are materially reduced. In the case of the LFP battery, its benefits appear to outweigh the detriments, at least in the standard range vehicles. Recently, it does seem as though Tesla was prioritizing...

Do I have LFP or NCA Battery? (SR+)

How about the charge screen in the car itself?
  23. ErikJupiter

Do I have LFP or NCA Battery? (SR+)

In your case, I would go with the weight. Which indicates an NCA battery. However, I am surprised there is no “daily“ and “trip” indicator as I do not believe Tesla has changed their advice on max daily charge for the NCA battery.
  24. ErikJupiter

    LFP battery in Model 3

I think your last point, regarding cost, combined with the fact that most SR+ worldwide have LFP batteries, suggests that LFP may become the default battery for SR+.
  25. ErikJupiter

    LFP battery in Model 3

If you ordered it from inventory, and the listing showed 253 miles of range, then I would say it is an LFP.
  26. ErikJupiter

Is your US made SR+ LFP charging to 253 or 262?

This morning my app showed 254 miles at 100%. But the car itself showed 253.

This is exactly what I have including the build date and software version.
  28. ErikJupiter

Do I have LFP or NCA Battery? (SR+)

There is a lot of good information in this thread. The easiest way to tell if you have an LFP vehicle is to look at the charge screen. If it shows limits for “daily” and “trip” it is not an LFP car. I attach a screen shot from the EU owner’s manual indicating this is a reliable method. Also...

Talk to me about automatic car washes

There is actually a hand wash place not far from my house. It is housed in what used to be an automatic car wash, but the machinery was removed. Humans hand wash the cars. They still use the blower, then other humans wipe down the car. I‘ve had mixed experience with other vehicles...

Do I have LFP or NCA Battery? (SR+)

This isn’t entirely reliable as I know someone who got an inventory vehicle with an NCA battery just last week. I suspect it got into inventory when someone canceled an order and the vehicle was already at or near the store.

Don't keep the Tesla app on your phone open.

On IOS, I wonder if the issue is whether you have location access set to Always. On page 6 of the owner’s manual, in addition to stating that Location should be set to Always, it states: “For the best experience, keep the mobile app running in the background.” (Image attached). This suggests...

    LFP battery in Model 3

I had read in several places that the LFP battery would be used in the SR+ going forward. Unsure if that has been confirmed in any official way. But it would be consistent with things Elon Musk has tweeted over the past year.

SR/SR+ (Model 3 RWD) Waiting Room

Very interesting. So both the NCA and LFP vehicles show 262 on the sticker. Does your window sticker show fuel economy the same as the attached clip from mine? I know mine is an LFP because it showed 253 miles of range on the inventory listing, it weights 212 lbs more than yours, and it does...

SR/SR+ (Model 3 RWD) Waiting Room

I have a friend who recently took delivery of an inventory vehicle that turned out to be an NCA vehicle, confirmed by the charge screen having the “daily” and “trip” limits, the GVWR, the sticker showing a range of 263 miles and 142 MPGe (as opposed to 262 for range and 141 MPGe for the LFP)...

SR/SR+ (Model 3 RWD) Waiting Room

The attached screen shot is from the EU manual for the Model 3. It indicates that the way to tell whether you have an LFP vehicle is that the LFP vehicles have “daily” and “trip” limits on the charge screen. The LFP can be regularly charged to 100%, and Tesla recommends that it be charged to...

Do I have LFP or NCA Battery? (SR+)

They did not make me specifically accept the vehicle. I chose it from inventory and my SA assisted me in canceling my prior order and transferring the original reservation fee as a credit. By reserving a second vehicle from inventory, I suppose I accepted it.

Do I have LFP or NCA Battery? (SR+)

I had seen a few guesses that the performance motor might be used because of the greater weight, but this is the first confirmation I’ve seen. Thanks!

SR/SR+ (Model 3 RWD) Waiting Room

I agree this is accurate. Also, if the charge screen shows indicators for ”daily” and “trip” then it is an NCA vehicle. The following screen shots are from the European Model 3 owners’ manual:

SR/SR+ (Model 3 RWD) Waiting Room

The easiest way to identify the battery is to open the charge screen. If there are indicators for “daily” and ”trip,” it is an NCA. If not, it is LFP.

Discussion: Floor Mats in Model 3

I have been very happy with the EVAnnex mats in my 2021 M3. I’ve had WeatherTech mats in several cars. They certainly protect the carpets. But they often get dull looking and scratched. The EVAnnex mats have lots of small divots, where sand and dirt can collect. They are easy to dump out...

Anyone carry an emergency 12V tire compressor to allow to drive to a garage station to get a flat repaired.

I have used this similar Ryobi model for a while and it works well. But I doubt I will carry it around in the car.

Anyone carry an emergency 12V tire compressor to allow to drive to a garage station to get a flat repaired.

Thank you for that. My comment was aimed at the device recommended in the post I quoted. It is a combination device that includes a slime canister and a compressor. The compressor has a switch that allows the compressor to be the pressure source for injecting the slime into the tire. My...

Anyone carry an emergency 12V tire compressor to allow to drive to a garage station to get a flat repaired.

My spouse’s Volt has a similar device, perhaps lesser quality, which did not work well. The slime canister was difficult to use and the entire device was over-taxed by the job (it grossly overheated). I wonder whether it is a better idea to carry a small 12v compressor and buy a separate...

Any definitive answer on charging to 100% or not?

If you go to the Waiting Room for SR+, you will see that there are NCA SR+ vehicles still being delivered in the U.S., so I do not think it is correct that all new SR+ since March 2021 are LFP(at least in the U.S.).

Any definitive answer on charging to 100% or not?

The 7th letter of the VIN is not a reliable way to tell if you have an LFP vehicle. I have an E, and mine is an LFP vehicle. The two best indicators are: (1) the absence of the "daily" and "trip" limits on the charging screen, and (2) the weight (the LFP vehicle weighs 212 lbs more). Here...
