Did you just buy a Tesla from Hertz Car Rental?

The $75K limit applies to modified AGI. The 401K contribution limits are $23K (up from $22,500) for 2024. That means prospective shoppers interested in the Previously Owned Clean Vehicle Credit can make up to $98K in 2024 and still qualify so long as they make the necessary 401K, etc. contributions.

2021 Model 3 Performance - Warped Brake Discs

Brake pad lining wear is usually not eligible for warranty replacement, but other aspects of the braking system are. I've replaced pads and rotors under warranty during a previous stint as a Ford technician. It's usually up to the technician to distinguish between abuse and a repair subject to...

Will California ban Ships that don't comply?

The $5 million is only the cost of initial equipment installation. Engines fitted with DPF suffer a lifetime penalty of reduced fuel efficiency due to increased pumping losses, an increase in maintenance downtime and cost due to cleaning of clogged DPF, and fuel wasted from being injected and...

Will California ban Ships that don't comply?

I'm confused. Which is it? That's true. California's median housing cost is significantly higher than other states, yet the California median household income isn't. California is down in fifth place or so for annual income. That's a lopsided scenario. It means Californians are making...

Will California ban Ships that don't comply?

California is a writing a step-by-step instruction manual on how to hemorrhage a population at unprecedented levels. Prediction, in Which Year Will New Electric Vehicle Sales Exceed 50% in the United States "Poll"

You didn't actually read the study, did you? https://theicct.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/real-world-phev-us-dec22.pdf It's a study from 2022. The study is absolute garbage. Let's say we wished to perform a study on how often PHEVs are plugged in. How would we go about that? Hmm, maybe we...

Did you just buy a Tesla from Hertz Car Rental?

Hertz rental vehicle access usually does get removed from your account when the key card is swiped. Why is it necessary for you to use the key card though? Isn't your walk-away lock working?

    Speeding ticket question

Cybertruck Steer By Wire Safety Concerns and Details

In my garden shed resides a tool box/cart that was deformed by the front end of a 2003 Mercedes SL500. The toolbox/cart was originally parked in the front of the garage bay. One day, while pulling onto the bay, the notorious brake failure issue reared its ugly head. By the time my foot found the...

Is Tesla's "estimated 3-year gas savings" claim misleading?

Residential charging is the golden ticket to cheap EV ownership. Tesla conveniently does not use the electric charging cost per kwh THAT THEY THEMSELVES CHARGE in their misleading fuel savings calculator. Oh, the irony.
  13. dbeiler

Is Tesla's "estimated 3-year gas savings" claim misleading?

Not necessarily a misconception, it is a reality in some cases. I've paid $.37 a KWH for supercharging in a gas station parking lot that sold gas for $2.70 a gallon. The electricity cost included zero in road tax. The gasoline cost included $.47 a gallon in state and federal road tax. Even...

Discussion: Experiences Renting a Tesla Model 3 / Y from various companies

Hertz has not been removing their Tesla vehicles from service at the 50K miles basic vehicle warranty expiration. Hertz is on the hook for these repairs after 50K. The necessary repairs for PCS failures, legacy PTC heater failures, compressor failures, octovalve failures, etc., can cost well...

250wh per pile to get performance rated range of 315 miles

Interesting conclusion. My pickup uses Light Truck tires with inflation values between 65 and 70 psi. I wouldn't call its at speed behavior twitchy, though. It handles more like a boat with a stuck rudder.

Not to be a stick in the mud but I have to point out the 3 you referenced has 19" wheels. That comes out to $40,500 in today dollars. The Corolla you referenced is an LE no options. Sells for $22K not $24K.

Discussion: Experiences Renting a Tesla Model 3 / Y from various companies

Getting off topic but where are you finding inventory 3s? There havn't been any 3s available in the south for weeks now. The only option in the south is new order base for $39K and LR for $48K. Hertz's base models haven't depreciated at the same rate as their LR according to your examples.

Forget Covid pricing. Hertz's cars have depreciated 50% from today's $48K cost. The $60K covid cost results in an even higher depreciation rate.

Discussion: Experiences Renting a Tesla Model 3 / Y from various companies

Sure, but Hertz is selling 2022 Corollas with similar mileage for $18K which is only a 20% depreciation hit. Model 3 took a 50% depreciation hit, Corolla took a 20% depreciation hit. Not a good look for the EV rental biz.

There are a significant number of 2022 LR AWD Model 3s with 40-90K miles listed on the Hertz website for under $25K. These very cars cost $60K when Hertz purchased them in 2022. That's $35K in depreciation in only 2 years. It gets worse. $25K is an artificially high value because the price is...

    Well that Sucks

Trump will end Biden's EV (tax credit) policies

Trump will end Biden's EV (tax credit) policies

Is there a difference in paint longevity and quality of different Model Y colors
