I continue to be amazed at the hatred for EVs

I bought my Tesla Y because I love the Tech and the vehicle. Period. In our culture today, there are trolls that exist to hate on everything. (Including this forum.) It’s considered a sport in social media circles. Post a pic of a box of kittens and someone will post something negative and...

Are the Cybertruck's looks growing on you?

Looks are subjective. Personally, I think it looks ridiculous. From a practical standpoint, how are insurance carriers going to accept it. If the truck is dented or in an accident, I think the repair cost will be prohibitively expensive. The stainless will be impossible to straighten and...

    Consumption chart issues?

Just updated to 2023.12.1.1 and the consumption graph inaccuracy issue was fixed. I just drove 145 miles and it seems more aligned with trip data than before the software bug installed.

Steering wheel hack no longer working in 2020.44.10.1

An aircraft on autopilot is very different. Enroute, you have 1000 ft vertical separation and three mile horizontally. What often as described as the “big sky theory”. You have time to react if it fails. On approach, especially inside five mile, a good technique is to have your hand on the...

    Electric planes

I believe that idea was tried in Europe. Again, it’s a cost, complexity issue vs benefit. Saying taxi emissions is significant impact is an overstatement. Compared to what? It’s about 1-2% compared to fuel used in flight. From what I understand, using EV trucks over the road and local...

    Electric planes

On average, taxi fuel really doesn’t amount to much. The weight and complexity of any electric propulsion for that use would be a wasted effort.

My MY is Dual Motor, So does that mean I need a multi-engine rating to drive it?

Yes but it’s centerline thrust so no v1 cuts. 😜

    Hummer EV

The F150 Lightening weighs around 6000 lbs and the Hummer EV weighs around 9000 lbs. I’d hate to get that stuck while running off-road. You’d need a crane to get it out.

    Airport Parking for 6 days - Advice/Recommendations

I’ve parked at the airport multiple times in cold weather at Minneapolis/St Paul Intl. I also turn off sentry mode. Over the span of three or four days I see no more than a 1-2% drop. So really nothing. No experience with hot weather.

Phantom braking so bad I want to return my car

Not sure what software version you are on but my Y’s issues with approaching trucks improved dramatically over the last few months. Getting the latest updates should help.

Anyone interested in Temp vs energy consumption charts?

From what I’ve read, winter driving at colder temps isn’t as much of an issue of battery efficiency but of what your energy is used for. Assuming the battery is preconditioned. ICE vehicle efficiency is stated around 60% energy used for driving and the rest is just latent heat. The heat...

    TACC and Autopilot

I drove the return trip today using TACC almost all the time and engaging auto steer for about 75% of the trip. Same results. No collision warning and not serious slow downs. A massive improvement over what I’ve experienced in the past.

    TACC and Autopilot

If yesterday’s drive was an indication of how it works now, I’m happy with it. I’ve had two software updates over the past three weeks and nothing was noted regarding updating autopilot. But there is a definite change to how it drives when approaching large vehicles. I’ll be doing a return...

    TACC and Autopilot

I’ve had my Y since last November and using TACC or Autopilot on a two lane highway has been an unpleasant experience. All the slow downs and false collision warnings when meeting large trucks really detracts from the technology and driving experience of an amazing vehicle. I’m not sure what...

    Cold weather operating.

I left from my heated parking, preconditioned and charged to 95%. Initially my Wh/per mile was around 290. As I drove in the -8 degree air, the efficiency dropped to around 340 after an hour and was around 425 towards to end of my trip. I think my usage averaged around 390 for the 140 mile...

    Cold weather operating.

Range isn’t really my biggest concern. My main concern is the warm up in extreme cold. Planning an hour for preheat and conditioning.

    Cold weather operating.

I have the most recent update, which, from my understanding is supposed to fix that issue. I guess it’ll be an adventure.

    Cold weather operating.

Thanks for the info. Still learning about the cold weather effects on operating the Y.

    Cold weather operating.

On Thursday I’ll be traveling and my Y will spend the night in the subzero cold. The expected temp is forecasted to be around -20 F. I plan on having it plugged into a destination charger and will preheat and precondition before I leave. Has anyone with experience on this had any issues with...
