    Model Y P vs Rivian R1S

Possibly, but absolute speed is even more important than acceleration.
  2. S

    Model Y P vs Rivian R1S

Or in a 9000 pound (I’m not kidding) Hummer… 110mph should be more than adequate for almost everyone including for passing but track/autobahn goers may disagree.
  3. S

    Model Y P vs Rivian R1S

Probably a combination of weight, height and range conservation played into this 110mph limit. I quickly googled top speed for a bunch of gas trucks and EVs and such low speeds are not uncommon for either.

    Model Y P vs Rivian R1S

    Sorry I meant MPH.

Mercedes EQS reviews published - longest range and most luxurious ride of all EVs?

If Merc gave me an EQS and FORCED me to keep it, I guess I might keep it too ;)

Mercedes EQS reviews published - longest range and most luxurious ride of all EVs?

Absolutely, the Tesla charging experience is excellent and I imagine far superior to 3rd party right now. I’ve only ever had issues twice over 3 years, so even better than 98% I would assume and I haven’t seen any evidence of widespread issues! Here’s hoping these 3rd party charger kinks and...

    Model Y P vs Rivian R1S

Didn’t know their top speed was limited to 110 km! Not that anyone should drive at those speeds outside of autobahn type no speed limit roads but I wonder what the reason/rationale behind this was. Perhaps they can increase this with a software update? On the other hand, the 3 second 0 to 60...

Mercedes EQS reviews published - longest range and most luxurious ride of all EVs?

Non-Tesla DC fast chargers are growing at a rapid clip and Supercharger network will be opened up too. The charging infrastructure should be adequate in most places in ~2 to 3 years. No car company has their own gas stations and the third party gas infrastructure took time to build out as well...

Have you seen the EQS reviews? Better than Model S.

    Rivian RT1 Pricing Comparison

I wonder what the 250 mile version will cost. The 400 mile has a $10k premium.

Actually, the Model is a vehicle they do recommend. As per them, it is the most reliable Tesla.

GM’s new Ultra Cruise: Hands-free driving on all paved roads in US/Canada

What’s the consensus on city streets FSD timeline?
  13. S

GM’s new Ultra Cruise: Hands-free driving on all paved roads in US/Canada

When is FSD expected to be reasonably accurate and safe for city street driving?
  14. S

GM’s new Ultra Cruise: Hands-free driving on all paved roads in US/Canada

Will Tesla ever implement capacitive touch sensing on the steering wheel or eye monitoring instead of the steering wheel nags which are kind of annoying?
  15. S

GM’s new Ultra Cruise: Hands-free driving on all paved roads in US/Canada

Yea, I’m hedging my bets and don’t mind waiting 1 or 2 years. With used car values as high as they are, I’m considering getting a decent EV until some FSD/Ultra Cruise level L2/L3 is available (had a Model 3 before but now on an ICE).
  16. S

GM’s new Ultra Cruise: Hands-free driving on all paved roads in US/Canada

I have a deposit on a Cadillac Lyriq. If GM doesn’t get Ultra Cruise done, I won’t buy it.
  17. S

GM’s new Ultra Cruise: Hands-free driving on all paved roads in US/Canada

If ya’ll read my posts: 1. I’m just talking about FSD/autonomy here 2. Im just talking about Tesla here The only point of contention is which approach/company we believe/trust more when it comes FSD
  18. S

GM’s new Ultra Cruise: Hands-free driving on all paved roads in US/Canada

No one has been as careless (public safety & AV public image, possible illegality) and wrong with FSD as Musk has. There are NHTSA investigations going on regarding this.
  19. S

GM’s new Ultra Cruise: Hands-free driving on all paved roads in US/Canada

BlueCruise should’ve worked from the start but highway is easily fixable OTA, but FSD is not easy. Musk has been selling not just AP but also FSD and L5 for years. How many of those people have already sold their cars? That is quite possibly illegal.
  20. S

GM’s new Ultra Cruise: Hands-free driving on all paved roads in US/Canada

People made inaccurate predictions. No one was foolish enough to sell it in advance by the millions. Cost must have come down enough that radar is ubiquitous and LiDAR is starting to appear on production vehicles.
  21. S

GM’s new Ultra Cruise: Hands-free driving on all paved roads in US/Canada

Haha that’s so accurate. Radar is like seeing with your ears! To that I would have responded, but sometimes when you can’t see something approaching, perhaps your view is momentarily blocked, you CAN hear it approaching, and you know to run away. Or hit the brakes ;)
  22. S

GM’s new Ultra Cruise: Hands-free driving on all paved roads in US/Canada

    1. Because Elon has been repeatedly wrong on everything self driving for years and some of the decisions seem outright idiotic such as allowing AP1 cars without side cameras/radars to auto lane change using ultrasonics, selling FSD before we even know when/if it will be ready, upgrading...

When will Tesla update Model 3 interior?

Definitely agree on the P/top trims. And differentiating trims is not even hard, add some nicer materials and trim; some carbon fiber, metal, stitching, faux suede and leather, wood etc and voila. Not too different from how they change the wheels, suspension, add a spoiler etc for P models.
  24. S

GM’s new Ultra Cruise: Hands-free driving on all paved roads in US/Canada

Except other companies are not actually selling FSD or level 5 capable hardware before it exists and without knowing when we’ll get there.

When will Tesla update Model 3 interior?

I am not in need for anyone to be in awe of me nor am I looking for gold diggers. I just want a nice, plush ride, for myself. The controversial design notwithstanding, take a drive/ride in an S-Class and tell me you don’t like the exemplary ride, quiet, comfort and features. Tesla charges just...

GM’s new Ultra Cruise: Hands-free driving on all paved roads in US/Canada

I think that applies across the board, we will be keeping hands on wheel or eyes on road for the next few years whether it’s FSD or Ultra Cruise. It NOA city streets is functional like highway NOA (which I’m assuming is safe and functional by now), that would be good enough. These are only L2...
  28. S

GM’s new Ultra Cruise: Hands-free driving on all paved roads in US/Canada

I think it will be similar to SuperCruise in that you will be notified and need to take over when it can’t function, not necessarily make inputs while it is active (green light on wheel).
  29. S

GM’s new Ultra Cruise: Hands-free driving on all paved roads in US/Canada

When you say general release in 2 years, you mean you think it will be fully ready and functional by then? That would be nice. 2 years isn’t too far away and other than GM I don’t know anyone promising anything similar in that timeframe. Ford is only just launching BlueCruise. Who knows when...

When will Tesla update Model 3 interior?

Right now, yes, Tesla won’t. Which is why I skipped the Y and put deposits on R1S and Lyriq (Cybertruck too but that’s priced very well if Tesla doesn’t renege). But not necessarily forever. I didn’t like the old Model S and X interiors but I like the new ones minus the yoke. Those vehicles are...

When will Tesla update Model 3 interior?

Here are two examples of interiors that are modern yet still high quality. Of course different vehicle classes and I don’t expect the same on a 3/Y nor am I wedded to any particular design or style but shows how much effort car makers put into interior quality, materials, features and comfort...

GM’s new Ultra Cruise: Hands-free driving on all paved roads in US/Canada

I haven’t even been following FSD progress. Too much disappointment over the years so I gave up. How does it do now? Is it close to finished including on city streets? Is Tesla planning on using driver monitoring? Would be more comfortable to use without the sterering wheel nags.

Tesla ranks 2nd worst in Consumer reports reliability survey

I have deposits on the Cybertruck, Rivian R1S, and Lyriq. Let’s see which gets here first. I liked the BMW iX but I’m not blind yet ;) Basically, I want a midsize-ish SUV thing that’s both plush AND can tackle the worst shopping mall parking lot in the land. Model Y drives well but I think gen 1...

What adapters come standard with Tesla mobile connector these days? Can’t find it on the website. Helping a friend who’s getting a Model Y with charger install.

Tesla ranks 2nd worst in Consumer reports reliability survey

Tell me about it. I used to have a 7 series that had a few issues after warranty expiration and the repairs were very expensive. But amazing quality and engineering. Totally worth it :) Best to keep those cars for 4 - 6 years and then get a new one. Fortunately with the pace of progress, I tell...

GM’s new Ultra Cruise: Hands-free driving on all paved roads in US/Canada

Not sure but I doubt it. Driver is likely going to be responsible for monitoring and intervening as necessary. Probably one reason they repeatedly emphasize that it’s L2 driver assistance tech.

Help me decide: Model Y or Mach-E

Drove a Mach E SR (non-GT) and it was okay. I prefer the model Y. Feels more spacious/open and airy, and, I prefer the drive/ride (but not the tires). The Mach E is the better value. It was fast in unbridled mode and I liked the fake sound effects but the front rose too much when you accelerate...

Tesla ranks 2nd worst in Consumer reports reliability survey

No, I don’t have unwavering faith in CR. I just happen to believe it regarding Tesla. I find it confounding that Tesla has innovated so much and can make amazing vehicles and talks of all this automation yet can’t get basic things like paint, panel alignment, weatherstripping, quality control...

I haven’t done the DCF but growth should taper off. What volume/market share are we talking?
  47. S

Tesla ranks 2nd worst in Consumer reports reliability survey

No, the market overall didn’t think the value you are mentioning existed. Jim Chanos doesn’t determine the intrinsic value of Tesla. If the value really was there, someone else would buy TSLA. Many people still think it’s overvalued. I myself am not too sure and that’s not the point. So you...

Tesla ranks 2nd worst in Consumer reports reliability survey

Short-sellers don’t destroy value, they merely recognize that the value that the market is placing on a particular company doesn’t/will not exist. In some cases they even shine a light on shady/fraudulent business practices. And yes they profit from it in a market economy.
