    Roadster to nema 14-50?

^ seconded I also have the Can Jr/Sr but my home charger is a J1772 unit that currently has a 14-50 inlet on it, which lets me both share it with non-tesla EV friends at home and use far-flung RV parks on the go.

Service Manual or Schematics for the Roadster?

It comes out with the pioneer/jvc removal tools, I think https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0185VPVIG is the one, at least for the radio that came with my single-din dash.

Service Manual or Schematics for the Roadster?

Looks like no one has mentioned in this thread, but you actually can ask Tesla support for the roadster service manual if you can prove you and your roadster live in Massachusetts, where their 'right to repair' law requires the service manual to be divulged upon request to normal MA residents...

Help with charging near Palo Alto CA

Sorry for not being very up to date at reading the forum, but you're welcome to charge at my place in Palo Alto. (I'm the guy with a roadster charger on plugshare at the corner of Greer and Oregon). Just give me a heads up with a Tesla forums or plugshare message to make sure someone is home...

Roadster on destination charging doesn't work outside of North America

I also imagine it's just that he's exposing 240V on the nema 5-15R plugs. This is (obviously) non-standard and non-spec, but as you pointed out many devices/chargers have universal AC power supplies and are happy enough taking in 240V (some with a switch, etc), and will do so with half the...

Spotted Four Roadsters in SF Service Center

That was me going from Bay Area to LA :) That was some fun hypermiling with only one stop each way. Around my service center, it's not uncommon to see a few roadsters in at once just because they don't have a roadster tech all of the time, so the days that a roadster tech is in are when they...

    Charging Roadster disables Garage Opener

One of my housemates is a ham radio nut; I can confirm that even after isolating his power lines, he still sees broad spectrum interference when my roadster is charging. I'll bet it's a lot worse in my 1.5 than the newer roadsters, as I'm guessing at least some of the interference is from...

Got this question from Google today. Seems awfully specific! Strongly looking forward to the new ad profile they'll curate for me.

Road Trip - Need Assistance - L.A. to Palo Alto

You're welcome to charge at my place in Palo Alto (70A/240V J1772), ~1.5mi from the Tesla store. There are a bunch of other owners in the area as well, and at least 30A/208V charging is easy to come by in every downtown garage (I know, not as cool as some sweet sweet 70A :-) )

Strange Ideal vs. Estimated miles behavior

If I recall it's 40 miles, and it's stored in one of the not-encrypted files that you can dump via USB (whpm.log). My estimated goes over ideal all the time when I come down from mountains, charging my car as I zoom past vehicles doing the considerably more inelegant periodic braking and idling.

    Roadster key problem

It sets off the alarm. Found out the hard way when the electronics in one of my key fobs died and I had to unlock that way. You can turn off the alarm semi-immediately though by sticking the fob-less key in the ignition and turning, but the car still will not "start" until you key in your pin...

What did you park next to? (Or what makes the Roadster look tiny?)

Yes, the 208V/70A charger in Willows Motel 6. It's $10 for a full charge, no need to be a guest. Motel 6 | Willows, CA | Electric Car Charging Station | PlugShare Town is kind of boring / tiny though, but it's also really close to Thunderhill Raceway, so maybe I'll start charging there for...

What did you park next to? (Or what makes the Roadster look tiny?)

I don't suppose this counts? Most everything looks small in comparison :-) FWIW, you only need to stop once for 2h going from Mt Shasta --> Bay Area now, as someone kindly opened up a Sun Highway 208V/70A charger en route at the correct place.

Glass Roadster Top - New Group buy (May 2013)

Watched the serial console and discovered it was getting stuck in STATE_D, 'Ventilation Required'. ( JuiceBox_EVSE_firmware/EMW_EVSE_firmware.ino at master · valerun/JuiceBox_EVSE_firmware · GitHub ) Which /is/ part of the J1772 spec, and is the state that I discovered my car was asking for...

Glass Roadster Top - New Group buy (May 2013)

It's off-topic for this thread, but the relay inside of it is in fact 80A rated, though the relay losses in their water-tight enclosure would probably eventually overheat some of the surrounding wire insulation and other components. That said, finding an 80A rated J1772 plug is actually...

How does the Roadster do with steep driveways?

Approach angle in the front is 11 degrees. Departure angle in the rear (aka backing up) is 18 degrees. Breakover angle in the middle is 12.7 degrees. ... Known problems with Coulomb chargers? (ChargePoint network)

The roadster plug's GFCI has a few more mA of test current leakage than most things and can set off gfci farther up the chain. A good many people (myself included) just remove the GFCI plug from the 120V charger, and replace it with a nice normal plug. This also helps in a lot of places where...

Trying to see if our CPO Roadster ideal mile range loss/CAC value decrease is real...

    Salvaged VIN #531 on ebay

FYI the trim-pot on your charger will let you set the duty cycle for the J1772 pilot, so your car will only charge at whatever amperage is safe from your current wiring setup, instead of relying on the car's GPS-location-based charge-current-limiting available on the touch screen being always...

I hear "Run Flats" are bad... can I get a little more information.

Re: tires: - The stock tires are optimized for low rolling resistance in the going-forward direction, yes. - For weight reasons, the roadster decides to not carry a spare and rely on the compressed-air-and-goo-canister in the trunk to re-inflate a bit and fill small punctures well enough to...

Where can I order a front license plate bracket? My Roadster never had one...

There are (much) cheaper options, but I have the one from Mower Deck Axle ( Mower Deck Axles,Carrera,Cayman,John Deere,Kubota ). Advantage: No holes in your bumper (mounts via the tow hook screw hole), easily take it off and make your car stock again or just for shows and races, etc...

    - It's more of a not-quite-available-yet instead of "still available" :-) - It's possible you already have the latest firmware installed (which all it does is let your car successfully charge at the maximum it can already do of 70A while not freaking out at chargers with the maximum 80A...

I want to introduce myself. "New to me" 2011 2.5 Roadster...

I'll bet the answer to this is 100% dependant on if your roadster sits pampered in a garage or if it sits outside all day getting a nice UV, rain, and bird poop bath to deteriorate the top with.

I want to introduce myself. "New to me" 2011 2.5 Roadster...

I'm pretty sure (someone please correct me if not) the hard top is one of the few things that is 100% Lotus Elise compatible, so it should be simple to find one for cheaps. Personally, I put a 70A J1772 charger in my house to keep both myself (with The Can adapter) and other electric car...

Ouch. Sorry to hear about all of the bad service stories. 3D Printing for the Roadster

Well if I had a good picture / done 3d model I would have printed it by now :-P Right now I just have the 2D contour of the shelf top and bottom as an SVG that I'm planning on extruding to form the model. 3D Printing for the Roadster

Good timing :-) I just started designing a 3D model for a wide (4"+) insert into my 1.5's shelf area last week. Charging/Battery Capacity question

There's a balance to be had between a few factors, cooling (which is also a factor of the surrounding environment), overcoming some constant losses, and resistance heat loss in places that aren't even actively cooled (relay contacts, charger-related wires...). Tom Saxton did a few tests with his...

    OVMS Installation

Sorry for chiming in on an ancient thread, but does anyone have instructions for doing a full setup just via the serial console? (Roadster / GlobalSimCard) There isn't GSM cell coverage in my garage, and all of the serial console documentation that I can find seems to just be dev-oriented for...
