Australian Model 3 Highland experiences, tips, tricks

I don't have OBD scanner But I scheduled departure yesterday morning Pre schedule departure battery 18C Ambient 14C as measured by car in garage Post schedule departure battery temp 19C but that was after adding 10 kwh to the battery using 7A 3 phase (5kW). Ambient temp at end of charge as...

They do that even with ICE cars

    New Model 3 Performance news

People are now complaining about the horsepower difference between the Fremont and Shanghai models. Someone then said "Don't worry, Tesla will release an Acceleration boost - for a small fee" 🤣
  4. Q

Australian Model 3 Highland experiences, tips, tricks

Why can't you do one press. Press brake , do the PIN number, do the right stalk for gear, release brake. It just a matter of muscle memory.
  5. Q

    New Model 3 Performance news

I'm not convinced about the utility of definable regen. One pedal takes car of all that. People complain of gear shift slider but they want a regen slider?. So one slider no good but another slider good?. I can see situations where a regen is user adjusted down but in an emergency max...

    Superchargers in Australia

I'm speculating it's just Plugshare trying to populate their maps with as much info as possible, including speculative info. The more "plugs" the better for their business model and Accuracy be damned I suspect.

    Superchargers in Australia

I don't believe that entity exists as an organisation in Ev related social media - in so far as I can't find them. So 2 possibilities: they work in the Local council and have inside knowledge and are hiding their true identity or, They are just speculating with the location and put the Apollo...

    Supercharger - Taree, NSW

Used to do a lot of those but my local council has a $65 fee for extra kerbside collection. So tip visits no longer. Would be interesting to go to Taree with a box trailer to investigate the end charger bay.
  9. Q

    Ampol AmpCharge network

How are Tesla Gen 3 monetised and who is responsible for the maintenance? (I know there are other AC EVSE). ChargeFox or Exploren? The DCFC would be owned, operated and maintained by AmpCharge.
  10. Q

    Supercharger - Taree, NSW

Rego is cheap cheap for single unbraked 750kg ATm. But I get what you are saying . I used to get my own animal feed but these days it's delivered. I use mine about once a year sometimes more when the delivery truck can't get through to shed due rain softening the ground.
  11. Q

    Ampol AmpCharge network

To get to a shopping centre to do their weekly shop is also another scenario. For those customers a 75kW would give them a 50-100% in 30min or less. A quick in and out is never what shopping centres want - they want longer dwell time - hence the free 3hr parking at most. A mix of DCFC speeds...

Australian Model 3 Highland experiences, tips, tricks

The poverty pack MYLR onroad of circa $75500 is about $13.5k cheaper than my poverty pack MYLR bought June 2023🤣
  13. Q

    Ampol AmpCharge network

Yes, from the point of view it further negates the fire risk myth. However, a charge session using Ampcharge @75kW let alone 150kW would still be too fast for the average normal shopper. Looking at our own shopping habits, a 25kW DCFC would be better IMO. For a M3RWD that would be near 50% SOC...

Australian Model 3 Highland experiences, tips, tricks

Rocketman needs to match production to demand. And for those who think its a luxury car, no, Tesla M3/Y are volume cars. I wonder though if Rocketman has directed the factory to take further costs out -AKA cheaper fittings , cheaper quality? - at least for the cars not yet in production.
  15. Q

    Supercharger - Taree, NSW

Yes not everyone tows a 3T caravan. Lots of things can be done with a single axle 7x5 trailer
  16. Q

Australian Model 3 Highland experiences, tips, tricks

When the Rocketman says Full self driving - he actually means "self " = "driver"🤣.
  17. Q

Australian Model 3 Highland experiences, tips, tricks

Agree, the chime on green light does not distinguish between a green turn arrow and a straight ahead round green light. There are often two sets of traffic lights. One for straight ahead lane (middle lane) and one separate set on left side which also has an additional left turn light. The chime...

    Jolt EV charging network

The Jolt in Beecroft (sydney) is almost ICE proof. Red box = Jolt Box Green box = No parking EV charging only bay Purple mark = charging plug location Yellow Circle = Unofficial unmarked parking option if Green box is ICED - reverse in against the Jolt, cable is long enough. Any car in the...

  22. Q

Control arm bolt reported loose Model Y

@Goneincognito someone already posted a suggestion to report this issue to the regulatory body. ICE cars have an inspection component to their service schedules. One one the checks is inspection of vehicle and tightening of chassis bolts etc. Tesla lacks any aftersales vehicle inspection...
  23. Q

    Supercharger - Raymond Terrace, NSW

I would think most S/X owners have adapters these days as RTerrace is not the only SC with one type of charge plug. But what's this got to do with transparency of SC site ?

    Polaris Electric ATV

Just goes to show the value in the offering by EV manufacturers.
  26. Q

    Polaris Electric ATV

A new Suzuki Jimny for the same price will do the same job and also be road legal. Yes they (ICE) have a cult following in the US which probably explains their USD 30,000 price tag
  27. Q

Gen 2 wall charger recording watts supplied

The problem there is you will need to account for the cost per kWh for each charge. Too much work. Just let the leasing company know that ATso uses cents per km method.

  29. Q

    Supercharger - Taree, NSW

Yes: 📸 : drivedotcomdotau I'm am intrigued by the end supercharging bay at Taree though. I can't see how it would facilitate trailer charging. I wonder why there is more space between it and the next one
  30. Q

Would be just easier for lease company to just log the EOFY odometer.
  35. Q

    Jolt EV charging network

The ad screen is not on the same side as the charging plugs. I don't believe advertising is aimed at EV drivers as I have never seen a Jolt ad screen The main problem with Jolt is the free component. They have tried to mitigate this by allowing the paid subscribers to reserve a Jolting session...

    Supercharger - Raymond Terrace, NSW

  37. Q

Gen 2 wall charger recording watts supplied

You can easily just use the ATO home charging rate of 4.2 cents per km method. So easy no need to keep receipts etc etc, If you use this you can't also claim for other charging away from home because the cents per km method captures all km driven.Just use odometer at EOFY
  38. Q

Control arm bolt reported loose Model Y

Yes, there have been various recalls (that can't be fixed with a software update) over similar in the US. IMO a safety issue

    Jolt EV charging network

And putting in 7kWh at approx 20c/kWh offpeak for me is still better than potentially driving 3km out of my usual route, waiting 20min , then charging for 20min to get free 7kWh. But there are times where it makes sense..
  43. Q

Australian Model 3 Highland experiences, tips, tricks

I already know how it works. Your video is showing the perspective of the Tesla driver. I am asking about the perspective of the drivers in the oncoming traffic - what does it look like to them.

I wonder though... From the perspective of the Tesla driver, the matrixed area darkens for on incoming cars. However, from the perspective of the oncoming vehicles, I wonder if they are seeing light spillover from the adjacent lit matrix led in other words, the light seen by the oncoming...
  46. Q

    New Model 3 Performance news

I think Tesla needs to iterate away from just 0-100 or straight line speed. There are other factors that define a real performance car.
