I wanted it because the priority in a power cut would be to have the house still on, but still wanted have the car charger on the 'backed up' side so that it could charge from the solar during a power cut in the summer. The option is (AFAIK) very unlikely to just appear - you'd need to raise it...

To each their own of course, but when I tested it out the frequency dropped to 49.6Hz (from 50) - a 0.8% change - and that was enough to stop the car from charging to preserve the charge in the Powerwalls. That's the joy of this system - it doesn't need to 'know about' your charger, it just works.

Sadly the money-taking apparatus is in perfect working order. £0.42 per kwh off-peak.

Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere, but Leigh Delamere Westbound appears to be going live which is great news. Covers have come off the chargers and as I type I'm getting about 90 kW from one of them. Not showing on the map yet so no automatic battery heating.

Correct. And going by what happened for the European orders, the price re-appeared on the European websites about 3-4 months before the first European deliveries, so hopefully the prices showing again will be an indicator that they might make some RHD cars...

Ah interesting. My (new) 'EV Charging' option leads directly to I wouldn't expect to have the Wall Connector options ('cos we're Zappi charger) but maybe Tesla could add the 'Vehicle Charging when Off-Grid' option to yours.

Delighted to say that the 'EV Charging' option appeared in my settings this morning. Has taken more than a couple of days, but got there in the end so it shows that it is possible to add. It might take a few tries to get through to someone who understands the question and is willing to follow it...

My understanding is that this setting is only active during a power cut / outage - to prevent the car emptying the Powerwalls. From reading around the subject it appears that it does it by tweaking the supply frequency down (which is why it has to be independent of the grid) to dissuade the car...

Hi there. Apologies if this has been asked before. In the US (and perhaps other parts of the world) it is possible to limit the amount that a charging car will drain Powerwalls by adjusting the 'EV charging' options within the Powerwall settings menu. I don't have that option, and am interested...

Yes. The different adaptors unlock different amperages from the charger. I have 13A, 16A and 32A adaptors and the available charge current changes according to what is in use at the tme. Smart system 'cos it avoids popping a breaker or setting fire to something if the limit were left too high.

On the one hand - yes. On the other the energy companies are having a pretty rough time of it at the moment as their input costs soar and their output costs are - in domestic cases - capped, so I don't begrudge them that too much.

I don't think I'm typical, because I was on Agile and Agile Outgoing when I asked to switch to Go Faster. There are then several stages to that transition because you need to be on SEG for export before moving to Go, and have to be on Go before moving to Go Faster. So take this as a worst case...

Yep correct, they have to put you on 'normal' Octopus and then transfer over, and the transfer to Go isn't instant.

As previously mentioned, all SMETS1 meters should theoretically now work after a change in the system. In case it's of interest, our meter is a SMETS1 made by Elster - which shouldn't have worked until now, but actually has been working fine for half hour readings on import and export since June...
