Wiki Everything you wanted to know about Intelligent Octopus But Were Afraid To Ask

Good to know - thanks for that. If it'll let me edit I'll adjust the post to reflect the phone key info. Good to know about the single phone too - I thought that would disconnect the phone key connections, but great news if not.

Wiki Everything you wanted to know about Intelligent Octopus But Were Afraid To Ask

Connecting a Tesla to Intelligent Octopus / Octopus Intelligent Go when there is more than one / two / multiple Teslas on the account This is more awkward since the change to 'Virtual Keys', but is still possible (at least - it worked for my test charge this afternoon). It may be possible to do...

Anyone in the UK got 'EV Charging' option in Powerwall settings?

As you'll have no doubt seen from the rest of the thread it works by adjusting the frequency so works irrespective of your charger type. I also have a Zappi and it works fine with that - the car refuses charge when the frequency drops instead of the charger doing anything. It only does anything...

Powerwall Installation - UK - Site Import Limits (100A DNO fuse)?

I have been doing some research about this recently. Our system is Intelligent Octopus, 80A DNO cartridge fuse, 2 x PW2, 1 x MyEnergi Zappi charger & Eddi immersion heater. Our DNO won't go above 80A fuse, and to be honest, the voltage drop when we're at full load is significant enough (drops...

Octopus Intelligent - remove second Tesla from account

Forgive my resurrecting this zombie thread, but it is one of the ones I found when recently investigating the situation of two cars in one Tesla account. In my case I'll only ever need to give one of them - the new one - the 'extra' Intelligent hours (the other does significantly lower mileage)...

Solar Panels UK - is it worth it?

You probably know this - but in case it's useful for someone else - on the Zappi app you can adjust the 'Eco percentage' to adjust how far the solar output has to drop before the car stops charging. The manual is a bit vague, but this forum post is easier to understand...

    2023 Shipping Movements

Yessssss! A podium finish!! Thanks again for all your continuing work. This almost makes up for the fact that I'm never going to be able to track my RHD MS across the Atlantic... Ah well. :)

Anyone in the UK got 'EV Charging' option in Powerwall settings?

I wanted it because the priority in a power cut would be to have the house still on, but still wanted have the car charger on the 'backed up' side so that it could charge from the solar during a power cut in the summer. The option is (AFAIK) very unlikely to just appear - you'd need to raise it...

Powerwall - storm watch and car charging

It's possible that this thread Anyone in the UK got 'EV Charging' option in Powerwall settings? might be of interest. It relies purely on a tiny tweak to the supply frequency and the charger can be as 'dumb' as you like :)

Anyone in the UK got 'EV Charging' option in Powerwall settings?

To each their own of course, but when I tested it out the frequency dropped to 49.6Hz (from 50) - a 0.8% change - and that was enough to stop the car from charging to preserve the charge in the Powerwalls. That's the joy of this system - it doesn't need to 'know about' your charger, it just works.

Sadly the money-taking apparatus is in perfect working order. £0.42 per kwh off-peak.

Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere, but Leigh Delamere Westbound appears to be going live which is great news. Covers have come off the chargers and as I type I'm getting about 90 kW from one of them. Not showing on the map yet so no automatic battery heating.

    [UK] Model S/X LHD Discussion

Correct. And going by what happened for the European orders, the price re-appeared on the European websites about 3-4 months before the first European deliveries, so hopefully the prices showing again will be an indicator that they might make some RHD cars...

Anyone in the UK got 'EV Charging' option in Powerwall settings?

How disappointing. It won't help your current situation but I recently tested the functionality by going into 'Off Grid' mode, and with a meter recording the frequency. Sure enough the frequency was reduced as the Powerwalls got down to the threshold and the car charging reduced its rate. Once it...

Anyone in the UK got 'EV Charging' option in Powerwall settings?

Ah interesting. My (new) 'EV Charging' option leads directly to I wouldn't expect to have the Wall Connector options ('cos we're Zappi charger) but maybe Tesla could add the 'Vehicle Charging when Off-Grid' option to yours.

Anyone in the UK got 'EV Charging' option in Powerwall settings?

Delighted to say that the 'EV Charging' option appeared in my settings this morning. Has taken more than a couple of days, but got there in the end so it shows that it is possible to add. It might take a few tries to get through to someone who understands the question and is willing to follow it...

Anyone in the UK got 'EV Charging' option in Powerwall settings?

I've just been on the webchat and the adviser seemed confident that it would be possible to add the option. Said it would probably take a couple of days and he's going to get back in touch. Will post here if anything happens...

Anyone in the UK got 'EV Charging' option in Powerwall settings?

Perhaps - but then it's vulnerable to changes in the APIs (as are so many things) and only available to those technical enough to achieve it (which doesn't include me!).
  19. L

Anyone in the UK got 'EV Charging' option in Powerwall settings?

My understanding is that this setting is only active during a power cut / outage - to prevent the car emptying the Powerwalls. From reading around the subject it appears that it does it by tweaking the supply frequency down (which is why it has to be independent of the grid) to dissuade the car...

Anyone in the UK got 'EV Charging' option in Powerwall settings?

Hi there. Apologies if this has been asked before. In the US (and perhaps other parts of the world) it is possible to limit the amount that a charging car will drain Powerwalls by adjusting the 'EV charging' options within the Powerwall settings menu. I don't have that option, and am interested...

16 A charge limit in car/app. Car broken?

Yes. The different adaptors unlock different amperages from the charger. I have 13A, 16A and 32A adaptors and the available charge current changes according to what is in use at the tme. Smart system 'cos it avoids popping a breaker or setting fire to something if the limit were left too high.

    EU finalize and deliveries

Thanks :) But hopefully with the 'changeable' input which can take a 16A or 32A cee-form input connector (which can be bought separately from Tesla) to do up to 7kW?

I considered several alternative replies to this, but we will go with: "Yes. Yes they do." :)

    Model Y UK Delivery

I have just done the same process (checked with Tesla via text and the registered keeper is set as company name - which as discussed does reduce the options). Admiral were the best - a hair under £1000 comp with protected no claims (and a lot of years of no claims) in Cardiff. The Endsleigh...

    Model Y UK Delivery

Yep, and (judging by several posts on TMC) they're not afraid to enforce it too - cancellation of the order and a lifetime ban on future orders too. Would be a terrible shame in this case. Happens to be my exact build too...

    Model Y UK Delivery

There is always hope (misguided though that might be) as assigned orders might not be able to take delivery before the end of the month. That could be due to afforability issues, simple change of mind or unavoidably being away and not able to accept delivery. I don't know whether the Tusker...

    Wiki Model S Delivery Update

That's what I ended up doing. I have justified it to myself thus: Ordered MS LR in June last year - website estimate was End of 2022. No EDD yet, but I reckon it'll probably be at least end of this year / start of next before the right hand drive version turns up. Complicating factor - for my...

    Wiki Model S Delivery Update

I might have missed something (I only joined the thread in the mid 3000 pages), but I'm not convinced that @EndlessPlaid is Elon any more - but I do have another theory. I mean, I've never seen EndlessPlaid and Sawyer in the same room...

    Wiki Model S Delivery Update

Further proof that this is the best thread - so unusual on the wider internet to have differences of opinion without it descending into real unpleasantness within a few posts. Slightly different in the UK. We get a week to take delivery - or until EOQ if that's less than a week! Cheeky...

    Octopus go - Still available?

And lo - email from Octopus today contained "We’re increasing your export prices from 3p / kWh to 4.1p / kWh, a total increase of 36%. Your new price will take effect at midnight tonight." It's like they can hear you... :-)
  35. L

    Octopus go - Still available?

On the one hand - yes. On the other the energy companies are having a pretty rough time of it at the moment as their input costs soar and their output costs are - in domestic cases - capped, so I don't begrudge them that too much.
  36. L

    Octopus go - Still available?

I don't think I'm typical, because I was on Agile and Agile Outgoing when I asked to switch to Go Faster. There are then several stages to that transition because you need to be on SEG for export before moving to Go, and have to be on Go before moving to Go Faster. So take this as a worst case...
  37. L

    Octopus go - Still available?

Yep correct, they have to put you on 'normal' Octopus and then transfer over, and the transfer to Go isn't instant.
  38. L

    Octopus go - Still available?

Apologies if this has been quoted previously, but the email from Octopus at the end of December is below. In case it makes a difference I'm in the Cardiff area. As mentioned, my Elster SMETS1 meter was already working contrary to what I was expecting so I've not seen any difference, but it shows...
  39. L

    Octopus go - Still available?

As previously mentioned, all SMETS1 meters should theoretically now work after a change in the system. In case it's of interest, our meter is a SMETS1 made by Elster - which shouldn't have worked until now, but actually has been working fine for half hour readings on import and export since June...

Work in progress: stalks on 2021 Model S. (and optional round-y wheel)

Hope everyone has had a break from the day to day... Also following this with great interest - interested enough that the trim and steering mechanism with stalks have arrived from ebay over the last couple of days and the mouser order is in. The huge mouser lead time doesn't matter for me as...

@khew1988 Indeed so - I have just registered on here in order to say thanks for it. I am (im)patiently waiting for this time next year when my mid-life crisis MS might arrive (subject of course to delays), and am well impressed by your work - many thanks.
