Driver Side Mirror Turned Out...Fix, Please

Did the fold work OK afterwards? This happened to mine last night and when I popped it back in (which also surprised me with how much effort it took) it didn't fold on lock, although I've not tried to use the fold option yet.

Front Passenger Safety Restraint System Fault

Mines just had this message pop up (goigling brought me here). Mines uk so rhd, but says its the drivers seat. I'm going to have a good tug 😁 at the weekend but it is quite annoying. I did get caught in a tropical burst a few weeks ago (5 mins and it looked like I'd been swimming fully clothed)...

Exceeding the 1000kg towing rating by 500kg

Too big 😂 .I'm surprised it did so much though, was the towbar just attached to the bumper and nothing else, I'd have thought the subframe would take it (unless the driver tried booting it to start with).

Sports mode steering feels significantly lighter

I wonder if that's why they lightened it? I don't see why there can't be some sort if slider to control it so everyone can have it how they want.

Sports mode steering feels significantly lighter

I'm used to hydraulic power steering that's why this feels so light. I agree manoeuvring at low speed would be hard work, but at high speed I reckon it would be fine.

Sports mode steering feels significantly lighter

Wish they just had a setting to turn power steering off 😂 .

EVs Fall Short of EPA Estimates by a Much Larger Margin Than ICE in Real-World Highway Testing

I'd argue any range yesterday should include hvac and be as close to normal as possible (say by having radio on, lights on and that sort if thing) rather than played around to be some sort of pie I the sky measurement. Fwiw my previous cars the speed never made much difference to range, more the...

Disable rear seats seat belt warning

I did find this annoying when I had the seats down and was transporting part of a bed, what was really annoying was that as I drove round corners it shifted so the message came on a few times. Its warned me when I've forgotten to buckle one of the kids I'm on occasion so it's very worthwhile.

EVs Fall Short of EPA Estimates by a Much Larger Margin Than ICE in Real-World Highway Testing

If it was a leaf then fair enough, but something like a tesla (even a base SR), I'd just move closer to work. That would be a 3 hour commute each way surely?

Aren't the regulators just a small electric motor normally?

Voice commands for sat nav are useful of you're driving imo.

    Has the M3P ruined me?

I like the old phrase, hp is how fast you hit the fence, torque is how much of the fence you take with you 😁 . I've had cars with high hp, but low torque and high hp and high torque. It's much easier to drive something with alot of torque around town, high revving NAs sound good, but they are...

    Has the M3P ruined me?

That's not a bad idea, but that would add alot of cost in I'd imagine.
  18. T

    Has the M3P ruined me?

I think towing might be an issue for evs. Can you imagine trying to get into a spot with a large trailer or caravan on the back. Not to mention the reduction if range.
  19. T

    Has the M3P ruined me?

I think people compare 0-60 as it's an easy metric (and a bit dated imo). 0-100 is where you see real differences:D.
  20. T

    Has the M3P ruined me?

Yea I guess I maybe phrased it wrong, manuals feel faster. It does depend on driving too, for instance if you've just shifted to 7th say from 2nd or 3rd in a dct, then try booting it my last car got confused and took a few seconds to change. Obviously in a manual you can block shift. I know you...

    Rear view camera is blurry

Don't use rainx! I was going to use it on mine as the camera seems to last a day before getting grafted again, but I read rainx causes plastic to fog which could be your blurriness.

    Has the M3P ruined me?

I agree, my wife's fiesta st is miles more fun to drive (and makes me laugh with a little pop pop now and again). Should have made the model 3 performance sportier imo. Buckets seats, suspension, cool/massive wing 😁 .
  23. T

    Has the M3P ruined me?

I actually prefer manual for sporty driving. To me it's quicker than trying to use an auto in sport. I know some are semi-auto which aren't too bad, and I'm sure some are better than others.

Anybody come from a sports car to Tesla?

Even on "sport" the steering is way too light imo. My last 2 cars had hydraulic so its quite a difference. I just feel there's less feedback from the car, as I can't feel what the tyres are doing as well as my previous cars. It also doesn't ride bumps very well, even though the suspension is...

Anybody come from a sports car to Tesla?

Which bit? They're all valid points. Do you think the model 3 handles well/ has good feedback compared to an M3 or 911?
  26. T

Anybody come from a sports car to Tesla?

I find that too. I guess in a petrol/ diesel car there's always a slight delay before acceleration kicks in, but in evs there's no delay. I think whatever angle your foot is at (at whatever speed) likely moves up and down a little bit (without you thinking about it) and its just more noticeable...

Anybody come from a sports car to Tesla?

Its a relative measurement, compared to my previous cars it's very soft. Interesting if they do a boxster/cayman ev, wonder what would happen to the 911 as imo through taycan is the ev version. I just wish they'd done as polestar have and give the performance better suspension as standard. Don't...

Anybody come from a sports car to Tesla?

As much as I do like the acceleration of the model 3 (and dare I say have got used to/think it's slow:eek:), I wish they'd do a porsche equivalent. I'd like a taycan, but I'd have to go turbo (stupid name) to match the acceleration. The model 3 handles like a a bus even compared to my old e92...

Why Every New Tesla Now has a heat pump

I assume you couldn't claim on the warranty due to the mileage? You must have been driving all the time to clock up 50k miles in a year.

Why Every New Tesla Now has a heat pump

I thought they also need the special valve (octovalve?) For the heat pump to work right.

    Does Radio require premium connectivity

I've got a Samsung phone and use bixby routines to turn a WiFi hotspot on/off at the times I'm in my car. It works well during the week as I work the same hours each day so it's one for 30 mins in the morning, then I have it on for longer on a night (ferry kids around). Works reasonably well but...

can you supercharge in the rain? [ Yes ]

Fair point, the first time I hit a deep puddle that was only on one side of the car was an interesting experience (not in this car, was many years ago).
  33. T

can you supercharge in the rain? [ Yes ]

Oh yea, when you work it out it's not even that think it's less than 2 imperial gallons of fuel in our cars. Petrol and diesel is very energy dense.

Windshield washer fluid running over side window

There is an easier solution, only drive when dark then you won't see the streaks😁. For my serious suggestion I try and just give it a little squirm to try and limit it. On the subject of framelwss windows, is than an aerodynamic choice too, as normally its onky on cars that have a...

can you supercharge in the rain? [ Yes ]

What is it about the rain that reduces range? Is it the extra effort of moving through water, and the extra usage of the wipers?

    Winking headlights

It's a 69 plate, so still has radar (although not sure if they're turning that off). The symbol wasn't on for auto high beam. I'll check this morning when I start the car. Edit. Did a quick calibration and the car did lower them. Weird as it was only moted a month ago, but it's not been dark...

    Winking headlights

Hi, bit of a wierd one today. I had a couple of people flash their lights at me this morning. Thought it was a bit strange and discussed it at work. The guy I was discussing it with was infront of me as I left and he said one of my lights looked like it was on full beam. For reference it was...

Traded my M3P for an RS3 - My thoughts on both cars for what it's worth

It was from 2001 so "only" about $150k 😂. That's why I'd like a suspension upgrade on the model 3 performance as standard.

Traded my M3P for an RS3 - My thoughts on both cars for what it's worth

Not saying you can in the aidi, but in my last car (e92 M3), you could knock the gear selector forwards or back to change gear. I found (especially as it was an underpowered NA car), it would do stupid stuff like switch into 4th at 40mph which was very slow. Think I tried it in auto twice in 4...

Traded my M3P for an RS3 - My thoughts on both cars for what it's worth

I think we're a long way from light evs, unless someone makes much lighter batteries (although not sure if that's the heaviest thing in teslas).

Traded my M3P for an RS3 - My thoughts on both cars for what it's worth

Interesting you mention seat bolstering (or lack of), I do find I slide around quite a but with "normal" driving.
  45. T

Traded my M3P for an RS3 - My thoughts on both cars for what it's worth

It was just as there was a comparison to the model 3, although I struggle to see the point of the "saloon" a3 over a normal a4?
  46. T

Traded my M3P for an RS3 - My thoughts on both cars for what it's worth

Interesting when people compare sizes (snigger), I always put the a5 class as being model 3 sized.

What is this headlight calibration setting mean? [not headlight, follow distance]

Surely it depends on how close they pull in?
  48. T

What is this headlight calibration setting mean? [not headlight, follow distance]

While in the UK so we do use mph, our limit is 70. We're always taught it to be 2 seconds, but I agree, often when leaving a big gap some joker pulls in and then the car really freaks out.
  49. T

What is this headlight calibration setting mean? [not headlight, follow distance]

It's daft anyway, anything lower than 4 is way too short. I think there's a difference between radar and vision in what minimum you can set.

"Proactive" 12v battery replacement - good idea or overkill?

Oh sorry, I meant when the warning sign cones up did they say how long it would last if you can't get a battery straight away?
