    Paint chip repair

Tried both the Tesla chip repair and Dr ColorChip. IMO Dr ColorChip is far superior. Watched a couple of YouTube videos before I tried applying and worked perfectly.

    Yay! 2024.3.6 downloading

Based on what the Stats app is showing the folks on 2023.44.30.25 are barely moving to 2024.3.10. Not sure why and seems a bit odd unless the rollout is prioritizing those on the free trial over historic customers.

630hp Porsche Macan EV Turbo vs Elon - will he rev up Model Y to beat, or just chill?

Still waiting for the MYP “boost” pay window……
  4. Icehedgehog88

    Is my car performance ?

Don’t confuse boost (an add on feature to the LR) with the Performance.

    Snow, Ice, and regenerative braking

Those of us that have track mode can tweak the car to perform better in snow including reducing regen. These boards have a number some discussion using track mode for poor weather conditions. But one thing is clear there should be a snow mode for the entire fleet.

Rattle mystery-- can you solve it!?

That is what happened to me. The back seat belts if left to the side of the seat as opposed to draping over the top make a horrible noise. Drove me nuts before I figured it out.

Bioweapon mode experience - how often do you all use it?

Used it often this summer when we had all the smoke from the Canadian wildfires show-up here on the east coast. The air quality index jumped over 350 a few times this year and I found the bio defense mode very effective.

Is there a reason to get the Tesla wall connector over other level 2 home chargers?

Now that Tesla has bi-directional charging (CBT for now) it makes sense in my book to look at the wall mounted unit. In the future I’m expecting we will be able to use any Tesla car's pack to power our homes in an electrical outage. Tesla just posted the bi-directional charger on their website...

Ambient Lighting that Integrates with Model Y like the Highland Refresh?

This is a time lapsed pic. No street lights. Street lights reduces the reflection.

    Model Y performance winter tire

I went with the below setup after bending 2 rims. Been very happy with the CC2 performance. The setup is a square setup and with the 19” you get a better ride than the 21”...

Ambient Lighting that Integrates with Model Y like the Highland Refresh?

It does a bit, but above my field of view. My windshield has ceramic tint so not sure if the clear glass would be better or worse.
  12. Icehedgehog88

Ambient Lighting that Integrates with Model Y like the Highland Refresh?

During the day you don’t even notice it’s there.
  13. Icehedgehog88

Ambient Lighting that Integrates with Model Y like the Highland Refresh?

Correct. However, what makes this different is you “set it and forget it.” No more having to reach to the phone and turn lights on and off as they are tied to the OBD port. When you enter the car they turn on and when you exit they turn off. Always remembers last settings.
  14. Icehedgehog88

Ambient Lighting that Integrates with Model Y like the Highland Refresh?

The lighting fits in the vent area. At the top of that vent area is a slit in which the LED slides into. Although the LED strip comes with a sticky side you really don’t need it as the LED fits in a pocket above the vent. PITA to get it into the slot if you follow the instructions. I finally...

Ambient Lighting that Integrates with Model Y like the Highland Refresh?

I recently add Lighting Bug. Ties into OBD port. By far the best I’ve tried to date. Lighting Bug tech

MYP - stay or down-size from 21" from the start?

Agree with fiehlsport - drive with the stock for a while and see what you think. The 21” Ubers really stretch the tire over the stock wheels. This essentially results in the stock setup, not being very forgiving in a number of situations. The forum is full of discussions around the stock wheels...

Charging advice for a weekend-only car

I’ve seen some stats on the forum that 50-55% is really good to help with reducing battery degradation. Certainly bump it up when needed, but around the above seems to work well.

is there a work around to purchase oem gemini winter tire package from Tesla if MYP owner?

Take a look at the setups on TSportline. I swapped out my Uber 21“ for 19” because of the $h1 Ty roads in the Northeast. Been very happy with the ride setup and ride quality.
  23. Icehedgehog88

Anyone would be kind enough to recommend a swivel for the screen?

I installed my mount from TSportline but It’s a 2022 Fremont build. I suspect the mount would work but call TSportline and discuss with them. Very knowledgeable folks and have always had a good buying experience from them.

    Roof Sun Shade - recommendations?

This is the one I just put in and is much better than others I have tried. Very easy to install and does not have the treaded sag in the middle. https://teslaunch.net/collections/model-y/products/tesla-model-y-2020-2022-split-sunroof-sunshade-heat-insulation?variant=43223085416671

Staggered or Square Setup for MYLR

I picked my rims from TSportline and used a set of CC2's. Been real happy with the 19” square setup to date. Good luck.

Staggered or Square Setup for MYLR

Have a MYP with the stock 21” staggered setup. Changed to 19” square for winter. Noticeable change in ride quality and slight range increase. The 21” will be more prone to pothole damage (yes bent the rims), but I’m in the NE and the roads are 💩. Also 21” staggered setup more prone to curb rash...

Added a Hansshow Rear Climate Control & Heated Seat Screen To My 23 MYP (YT Video)

Don’t get me wrong. Not saying don’t buy, just understand what you are getting into. Some of their products are awesome and Hansshow will be very helpful to a point, and short of a warranty claim or breakage in transit. At that point, you will likely have some resistance.
  29. Icehedgehog88

Car shaking back and forth, head hitting headrest

Ride quality has a lot to do with the tires. I have a ‘22 MYP with the 21” OEM staggered wheel set. With that setup you will feel every bump on the road between the tires and stiffer MYP suspension. I did order a set of 19” rims from Tsportline with CC2 tires. Substantial difference in ride...

Added a Hansshow Rear Climate Control & Heated Seat Screen To My 23 MYP (YT Video)

Had a similar issue. Was able to get some compensation from them, but not full value. Was considering to use my CC company warranty protection. Hansshow has some great ideas, but product quality is a bit sketch.

Added a Hansshow Rear Climate Control & Heated Seat Screen To My 23 MYP (YT Video)

Didn’t hold your breath, They shipped me a broken screen and had a heck of a time getting a replacement.

Front window tint recommendation and price

I did 70% all around. In retrospect should have done 70% front, 50% sides and 70% back. These are my preferences. Others have gone darker but keep in mind the state laws. My cost was about a thou but depends on the area

    Front license plate holder

Considered others and liked this the best. Has a special screw to lock the bracket but candidly if someone wants it bad enough they will get get it. Done a ton of highway driving and it has been real solid, no movement/shaking etc.

    2023.2 update

If NHTSA is worried about something getting caught between the window and frame, it would seem to me that Tesla's have less of an issue based on camera placement. Using both the inner and outer cameras the car could determine if something was close enough to get pinched.

CarPlay solution for Tesla by Michal Gapinski using Raspberry Pi with Android

    The recent price drop

For those with a loan on the car. Make sure you have GAP insurance on the vehicle. If you have a total loss on the vehicle you could be quickly upside down on your loan. The price drop certainly caused a lot of unintended consequences.

IRS definitions of what's a car vs SUV by manufacturer for $55k vs $80k price limit

This is the same government that argued that a tomato is a vegetable and not a fruit. Doesn’t surprise me one bit. The only thing that is consistent is the government's inconsistency.

    Apple Watch

In the App Store look for ”Watch for Tesla”. I tried it and worked for me with no iPhone. Uses BT to hook up to car. Only twist is you have to launch the program on the watch face. Tough to explain but the app loads on the watch and has a couple of native watch faces as well as complications. In...

NJ -> VT ski trip MYLR

I usually go I95 to I91. Usually stop at Brattleboro VT exit and top off there. With your extra load I'd probably hit the West Springfield charger which is next to Costco and behind Panera, then see what you have by the time you hit Brattleboro. The carriers have a lot of drag and add the cold...

What features do you wish the Model Y came with (Dec 2022/Jan 2023) Wishlist

Perhaps I miss understand your point. All summer I used off-peak scheduling using either the Tesla native app or the Stats app. I needed to do this to get a rebate from my power company. Worked like a charm.

non-oem tire/rim sizes at national chains (costco, belle tire, etc)

Had a square set of Tsportline rims and CC2 tires. Went to Town Fair Tire in CT to have them swap the staggered TESLA 21” set on my MYP with the 19” Tsportline set - they refused. Found a guy who has a mobile rig to do the job who will be my go to guy for all my autos in the future. Point here...

Will this wheel fit on a MYP?

Can’t help you here, but did purchase a square 19” set on Tsportline with CC2 tires and very happy with the service, the wheel, and the ride.

Tires Model Y Long Range 19 Inch Wheels
