GREAT NEWS!!!! Like you I was in the same boat with my Tesla update failing, but just minutes ago Tesla pushed another update thru 2022.40.4.1 and it updated successfully, that is with the screen completely disconnected and the car is back to stock.

I agree a few people msged me thinking it is the version which it is not, and hopefully putting it back to stock the update process will be successful again

I have watched many of his videos and it is funny he is why i also bought the display...lol adding a switch to disable is a good idea.

also I had the update done on my tesla 2022.40.4 before installing the rear display and it is working fine both car and rear display, so it is not the update but when it is going thru the update process.

let me know if disconnecting the protocol box makes a difference, when my next update occurs I will try disconnecting the protocol box also unless you guys have done it already and it did not make a difference. then the next option would be putting back the factory plug back in its original state

that is a stupid response from Hansshow, so basically the screen is only good until your next tesla update without any fix. I think i will be asking for a full refund too

Do you know if the other person tried disconnecting the protocol box before updating? Also what version is the software update? just wondering if it is something in the update or updates in general?

I hear you, I originally wanted just the footwells, because my 2 year old threw her bottle and it got wedged underneath my brake pedal while on the highway and I could not see anything down there, it was a scary moment, but I guess went a bit extreme now...lol

I originally had the nestour setup in my car, and replaced it with this Hansshow interior laser ambient kit, which I just finished installing, I will post pics. One feature i like is that it will turn off when you leave the car.

From contacting Tesla Canada you can request a copy of your vehicle data thru your online account, you can specify a date range and it will have everything, from each time you open a door to errors takes up to 30 days for it to be sent. The local service center only retains data for 10 days...

Yes Tesla can see any activity on the car but they only have information up to 10 days, I found that out because i needed data from them for a flat tire going thru a construction area.

let me know how it goes, from when i explained the setup to tesla he believes the controller is for communicating to the display for car climate controls. which he thinks is interfering.

I contacted one of the tesla mechanics that helps me if I have any issues, he is asking for a video of the error of what is happening when the tesla software stops installing after 30% I will get it to him and hopefully he can help.

just a thought what if you disconnect the hansshow control box and try updating again?

update..i got it done, but had to remove the glove box air bag, I also disconnected 12v and main power it was very tight to remove the connector but was able to get it done, now working fine with no errors. thanks for your advice and help

ok thought i would ask, no have not done it yet, already fed the cable from the rear vent to the front, i was trying to find the plug that i need to unplug, but there is not much space to access it, so will attempt soon

i found out from a tesla tech unrelated but if you go to software and press on the display where it says model 3 it can put the car into service mode use password "service" I wonder if that would help buy time in connecting/disconnecting the cable
