Tesla is capping batteries again to get more sales?

it's actually one of the best strategy out of Tesla so far yet IMO. They can slowly increase battery capacity as it ages so the owner won't experience reduced range. And You can charge to 100% all the time where in reality is only say 80% of full battery capacity (slower battery degradation). I...

    Sun visors annoyances

my passenger side visor works well, but driver side sucks. It's the typical Tesla crappy quality issue. It works great when it does, and doesn't when it doesn't. The driver side always come off whenever I flip the visor down. I have never have so many little things/issues with any of my...

Refresh Map Auto-Center/Auto Zooms with 2023.6.8

2023.26.7 seems to revert back to zoom at fixed level even if you are not navigating. This is so crappy. I might've figured out what caused this. It's the "default" state. If you change the map view (doesn't matter how) that caused the upper right corner "N" symbol to go from solid black to...

    Hold map in one spot

Yeah, that's the trick I've been using since reading this thread. But needing to do this on a 50k+ car is just wrong. Just allow us to disable dynamic zooming. Most if not all of Tesla's "We know better" features turn out to be just crap. It really feels like the coders don't actual use the...

    Hold map in one spot

The dynamic zooming is really annoying. It practically makes navigation useless for me. I'm considering cancelling the premier connectivity all together and just use my phone for navigation moving forward. It's amazing how Tesla gave us a huge screen and somehow make it useless at the same...

Extreme battery loss on Model 3 (˜10% per day) since 2023.20.4.1. Contacted service and told this is normal (more info below)

Just sit tight and wait for a class action lawsuit. This is the best way. Remember the Apple throttle gate? They lower CPU performance for older phones to "preserve your battery power to give you a better experience". If enough folks experience the same thing, there will be a lawsuit to...

Does Cabin Overheat “No A/C” mode work for anyone?

for me it doesn't seem to do anything. no A/C mode under direct sun light about 80 outside temp would get my car interior above 130 without A/C. I even tried to turn the feature on/off just to compare. The interior temp doesn't seem to change without A/C.

nope. not for my use case. still a giant middle finger in navigating mode. but I’ve discovered a new voice command though.

Refresh Map Auto-Center/Auto Zooms with 2023.6.8

Tesla SW is just crap. I want to zoom out a little bit during navigation so I can see the up comeing turnS. Not just the immediate turn. I keep pinch zoom out and voice command "zoom out". 5 seconds later, it zoomed back in to show me the road that I can see with my eyes which is going...

AC on Manual but Recirculate keeps reverting to Auto

I'm seeing the same thing and it's frustrating as hell. When I leave my hvac in manual it means manual. All these "we know what setting is better than the driver" crap is just killing the whole driving experience. I just need a modern EV instead of petro car. I don't need a smart car. Can...

    Most requested features list

Charging range. A sliding window with adjustable size so I can configure say 40% - 60%. All I need to do is to plugin my car every night and it'll start charging when the power dropped below 40% and charged up to 60%.
  13. L

    Cabin Overheat...or Not?

I understand a feature has its intended usage. It doesn't mean I as the consumer (paying owner) couldn't use it for my intention. Apolo 13 landing module wasn't intend to be a life supporting module either. Having a car sitting under hot summer many years cause interior to degrade much faster...

    Cabin Overheat...or Not?

I started to enable it just few weeks ago and encountered bunch of weird configuration issues. I have subsequently settled to just air and no AC. Lowering the cabin temp down to around 105 degree F is overkill IMO. With outside temp about 80F, my cabin gets to 130+F. I think it's not...

    Garbage GUI design

Just to report that after new FW update. The car was back to the funky state where enabling cabin overheating protection automatically enabled schedule departure after I pressed the "schedule" button in climate control. Once I proceed to set the schedule time and then disable the feature...
  16. L

    Garbage GUI design

I believe the lack of initial "schedule" time setting is the culprit. Now everything seems to be back to what I used to experienced. 60% charging stays at 60% state of charge in the morning.
  17. L

    Garbage GUI design

That's why I look at percent charge, not mileage. Percentage charge should be consistent in the span of hours. So temperature change shouldn't be an issue. The main reason I go down this rabbit hole is the change in behavior was so black and white. It never happened for the first several...

    Garbage GUI design

It's at 66 degree. I live in California. Garage temp stays room temp. It's not heating. I don't set climate control to auto anyway. That's another gripe. Temp changes on its own even though I'm at manual setting. Never seen this in any of my other electronics.
  19. L

    Garbage GUI design

I think it's the lack of state (initial state) in climate control scheduling that caused all these unrelated issues. Just today, I decided to poke around the scheduling and overheating protection settings again. I could be able to turn on scheduling just by turning overheating off, then on...
  20. L

    Garbage GUI design

hmmm. Still having the weird drain/discrepancy between charge setting of 60% and actual 58% charged state in the morning. So maybe it's not the scheduled climate control. I'll turn off overheating to see if it's the issue. But overheating protection should've been off in the morning after I...

    Garbage GUI design

I have been battling weird vampire drain the past few weeks when cabin overheating protection was enabled. I noticed in the morning after finished charging, it would be about 2% below the set charge point. It happened to be the same time I started using the overheating protection feature. So...

    Traffic visualization

Me too. I think that's how it is. If you turn on the FSD GUI (beta), it shows more info. But I still see missing cars a lot. There was a thread discussing this. Most feel it's a decision to not display rather than the car not seeing things. I tend to agree with that as well. But given the...

HVAC temperature - changes on it's own?

Oh my goodness. I just got my 2022 model 3 and experienced this few times. The temp sometimes will be changed to 68F after work (going home) from current manual setting at 67F . This thread started 4 years ago??? I only have 1 profile and it is not tied to easy entry. WTF? HVAC in "manual"...

Does frequent power outage during charing cause harm to any components?

This is with the mobile charger that comes with the car. I've read the power wall might have some protection mechanism. I'm just wondering if unannounced power outage causes issues with car. Thanks.

    Having second thoughts

That's what I thought for my panel as well. But apparently there are skinny breakers that can double the slots without needing to replace your panel. They are slightly more expensive than the "fat/wide" breakers. But worth it. It cost me less than $1k in california to get 6 gauge cable...

Why does the UI miss so many oncoming vehicles?

Yes. It is complicated. That’s why I try to simplify things in terms I can grasp With analogies. I look at a computer as in 2 parts (for the context of this topic). Source code and data. data can be input or output/decision. the goal of training/learning in AI term is so we can tweak the source...

Why does the UI miss so many oncoming vehicles?

Training in AI's world == adding new scenarios/considerations so human can code new "if then else" statements. Your word "training" in human world == Full Self Learning. Even going to school or taking a class is "self imposed". There's no "training" (forced upon by outside force) taking...

Why does the UI miss so many oncoming vehicles?

Please no FSD people. It's not ready. Do it as a toy and be ready to take over at any given moment. Just yesterday afternoon the FSD UI shows a traffic light green even though it is actually red when direct sun light was shining on the light. Granted there were multiple traffic lights and...

V11 - How to turn on seat heaters without turning on climate?

Late to the thread (just got my car recently), but it's really annoying. I just want a warm butt!!! Is it too much to ask for? Just learned that AC will get turned on automatically even though HVAC is on manual mode and no cabin overheat protection. I guess the lack of quality control is not...

Why does the UI miss so many oncoming vehicles?

Ok. Maybe could be the distance then. Pay attention to how far your UI shows the car on highway in front of you. It's really not that far to be honest. If it's going the opposite direction at such a high speed, I don't know what it shows. It's around 120 MPH. I hope there's a center divide...

Why does the UI miss so many oncoming vehicles?

i have always thought it is the camera’s limitation. It can’t see behind an object. It is easily demonstrated when you are stopped in a red light. UI only shows the immediate cars unless there’s a stagger.

Scary near crash with a big truck today. Disappointed that teslacam did not record the event 😕

I'm sorry. But where am I supposed to see this icon? Which view? For me, if I go to live video, there's nothing like what you posted. Just 3 video live views. If I press the dashcam icon on bottom row while driving, I do see a message states clip saved. When parked, I only see the red...

Scary near crash with a big truck today. Disappointed that teslacam did not record the event 😕

hmmm. Maybe I misunderstood how it works. I was actually playing with it this morning before work. How do I get it to record always then? Is this not a good idea that's why we have this thread? I thought it's always recording to the RAM and it'll save clips to flash based on the setting...

Scary near crash with a big truck today. Disappointed that teslacam did not record the event 😕

Sometimes you want to save a clip even though nothing has happened. Near misses, close encounters, etc. It's not a question of why do you need this. It's a question of why couldn't you do such a simple thing? You paid for it. Per earlier post, you could save past 10 min simply by touching...

Scary near crash with a big truck today. Disappointed that teslacam did not record the event 😕

I second that. Sometimes people are trying to be too smart for their own good. All they need to do is add a save past 10 min button on the dashcam regardless of the mode (manual, auto, honk, etc). There's a very thin line between "clean" and "duh".

    Model 3 Seats

2022 model 3 long range here. Side support is not the greatest, but works for me with normal driving. But I do have a huge issue with the headrest. I ended up turning the headrest around 180 degree. The factory default position is pushing my head forward. I have never experience such...

Proximity sensor getting fooled by oreo cookie highway lane marking?

More interesting finding this morning. I reboot the onboard computer by going to the service section to "power off" before driving to work. This time, the right side of the sensors light up like Christmas lights immediately after I enter that section of the highway, but left side barely shown...

Proximity sensor getting fooled by oreo cookie highway lane marking?

hmmm. Interesting. Then I can't explain why it's so consistently faulty on a section of the road that has the oreo cookie lane marking. It's night and day clear once I've pinpointed the marking. The correlation is too high to be a coincident (at least for my car). I can see ultrasonic...

Proximity sensor getting fooled by oreo cookie highway lane marking?

I am almost 100% certain the lane marking is the culprit. Today I drove from the other direction of that section of highway to work and it happens almost immediately after the interchange. The only question remains is if it's only to my model 3 or simply nobody pays attention to it... Tesla...

Proximity sensor getting fooled by oreo cookie highway lane marking?

There's a section of the highway 85 (northend) in Bay Area where the lane marking is sandwiched between 2 black stripes. My new model 3's proximity detection (yellow/red arcs) lights up when no objects are around me. I also got heavy tramlining in that section (just figured out this issue...
