Have done the same.
Most important tip is to not buy eap (or fsd) or a tow bar at order time. You pay BIK on the list price plus options at time of purchase. You can order these things later and the company can pay for them but it won’t affect the price for BIK purposes.
The company can pay...
Thanks all.
In terms of hogging a lamppost - yes the cars are expected to be plugged in overnight. We have a local WhatsApp group to arrange moving to ensure the spot isn’t taken by an ice car. There are also about to have a further 3 lamppost chargers in the near vicinity. Which is helpful...
I have to use public charging (no off street parking, live in a terraced house).
There are new charg.y lamppost chargers installed locally. This has a 65p/kwh rate and a night rate of 28p/kWh between midnight and 7 am. This compares to the Source chargers that are 46p/kWh all the time...
It’s complicated to be billing work separately for supercharging vs home charging.
You’re right about the 45p rate - they have got confused by the company car rate.
Try persuading them again? This link might be helpful

Car is coming up to 6 months old and I’ve already done 10k miles.
Wondering when would be the most cost effective to replace?
Company car, would replace with same car again (I need the supercharger network)
Clearly needs to be before 2025 when the new road tax comes in.
Should I keep the...
To be honest I don’t think it’s worth it living in London.
I don’t have space to store winter tyres and the efficiency outside of winter (or indeed all but the coldest time in London) isn’t worth it.
It does depend when you’re going - we’re off to Avoriaz before Xmas so might not be very...
Can someone explain what the future policy on company cars is. Can’t find the announcement on the web. Can the company still write off the full cost of the car?
I had sentry on for the first 3 days after getting my car - used 7% per day!! Turned off and now only used very rarely if worried the car might get pranged somewhere.
Tips on where to stop on the way down?
We’re off skiing in Avoriaz the week before Christmas, aiming to get home on Xmas eve.
Planning to get the 1430 Eurotunnel after the kids break up from school on Friday lunchtime and hope to get to Troyes for an overnight stop on the way down.
Ideally...
I’m in the same position. My commute (2-3 days per week) takes around 25% of the battery each way. No charging at work, only off street parking at home. Lamppost or source London chargers
I charge to 90% before my commute. Preferably the day before in case there are charging issues (eg iced or...
Great suggestions most of which I’d be very happy to have.
Only one not mentioned so far is a route planner on the phone app.
I know I can use ABRP but it would be nice to do on the app and sync to the car
I’ve signed up to their monthly subscription. Now 40ppkwh.
Have test to try Ionity but this is much cheaper than the Tesla supercharger which least charged me 67ppkwh.
Anybody know what the benefits of letting them access your Tesla account? I’m a bit worried about letting them have access.
The problem in our area is that the lamppost chargers are frequently blocked by parked cars, both electric and ice. The source chargers are always available and there are loads of them. Although source have put up their rates to 55pkwh with a residents discount bonnet is cheaper and can use...
I live in a terraced house without the ability to charge at home.
Reliant on public charcing. The lamppost charger near us is often blocked, but the Source London is usually available.
They’ve really put up their prices to 55p/kwh on their residential rate (ie with a £4/ month subscription)...
Disclaimer - I didn’t watch the video. Too long!
But my experience in my 6 week old Model y Is pretty good. I’ve done 3k miles on it so far.
The auto park is pretty good. I don’t have to trigger it. About half the time I stop it flags up that it can auto park when I put it in reverse. I...
I’m in Zone 3 and have taken delivery a month ago of a Tesla y. Am reliant on public chargers. The source ones are good if rather expensive. You can reduce the cost a little by paying a monthly subscription. However there are lamppost chargers that have been installed which are 28p per kWh and...
The official line clearly varies from council to council.
My council Merton advises against running cables from your house but it’s not as strong advice as it was.
https://www.merton.gov.uk/streets-parking-transport/electric-vehicle-charging-points
I’m in the same position. Terrace house in London. There is a lamppost charger a 5 min walk away with a cluster of electric cars around it! 28p/kWh. Downside is that the spot is permit holders only so can be “iced”.
And it’s Only 4.8kwh charger. I’ve asked the council for more.
Also there...
Turned it off and down to 1% battery drain / day.
Clearly only ever useful for people whose cars are garaged most of the time and only on for a few hours at a time.
Great idea though, not usable for me.
So I’m in a similar position.
New MYLR, just picked up on Saturday.
Parked on street, have lost 16% over the last 38 hours.
I don’t think the power drain is tenable long term - with no home charger, it’s just too much energy. Will have to take the risk that someone dings it!
The new CarPlay looks amazing. It’s a real shame Tesla aren’t compatible. I’ve tried CarPlay on rental cars before and really hoped my next car would have it, but alas no. Tesla won out despite the lack of CarPlay for me because of boot size and supercharger network. The ioniq 5 does look good!!
Hi,
My model y is on order with a delivery date a month away. Need to organise insurance.
It’s my first company car. As a small company this will be the only car! Does anyone have any recommendations as to who to use and how to arrange?
Thanks
MY blue / white / Gemini EAP.
Ordered mid mar.
Edd early May, late May, June, then aug 4- sep15.
Today back to the end of June!!
Rollercoaster.
Half expect it to go to October next…
But just maybe it will come with us on the Eurotunnel this summer!🤞
For me it was the supercharger network that was the clincher.
Wanted an electric with great range and massive luggage so can go camping on our summer holiday.
No off street parking so public charging only.
120 mile round trip to work!
Supercharger near work so can top up. The other bp...
Doesn’t look like you’ve had much of a response.
I don’t know enough about the regs but they are quite specific.
The Tesla charger installation manual has a detailed appendix for Uk regs.
I suspect you wouldn’t get away with doing mounting to wooden wall. Building a small brick wall or a...
