Plaid 21” rear tire woes - factory defect?

Got my plaid with 21” had the issue, could not find tires last august so bought a set of 19” with Pirelli’s and they definitely ride better and are wearing normally, also like the extra 45 miles of range on top of the smoother ride and better pothole resistance. I actually like the look of the...

Further discussion and analysis on why the yoke is not good

Actually the Model S and X delivered in Europe do have the Yoke. Also I do all you mention and have no problems for the past 7 months. Your arguments are invalid compared to the actual use. Good day sir!

Tire Blew Out on PLAID - 1.5 month wait on tires ?!

Falken has that size tires available But they are not with foam inside, some people reported that they are noisy. There is a thread about tire issues with 21” Plaid 21”rear tire woes - factory defect? Had the same issue, bought a set of 19 tempest with the pirellis on eBay, very happy as there...

Any other way to report, that button is awfully small and for me it’s at the bottom of the screen or is it another button?

    Plaid Vibration around 38-42MPH....

agree it’s minuscule On the acceleration. But on the comfort I find it absorbs little inperfections a lot better than the Michelin, the ride is smoother.

    Plaid Vibration around 38-42MPH....

Interesting, maybe it’s either because I had them road force balanced? or just a lucky streak? With the 21’s I had the vibration but not everywhere and everytime. I also noticed that it usually went away for a while after a long trip on the highway.

    Plaid tire failure

Just FYI, had the exact same issue and could not get replacement Michelin, bought a set of 19” tempest wheel, no issues, and the pirelli’s are widely available. much more comfortable and more range.
  14. S

    Plaid Vibration around 38-42MPH....

Me too, but the 19’s are definitely much more comfortable, they absorb a lot of the small bumps, not mentioning better for potholes. Also I gained close to 50 Miles of range with those wheels, and the car is a bit quicker due to lower wheel mass. Feels a lot more magic carpet ride now. Also...

    Plaid Vibration around 38-42MPH....

The vibration felt in the Yoke between 38 to 50 MPH that is described in this thread.

    Plaid Vibration around 38-42MPH....

Had the 21 inch Michelin tires that got chwewed up and also had the vibration. Switched to the tempest 19 inch wheels and stock pirellis and I do not have the vibration anymore.

Plaid 21” rear tire woes - factory defect?

Does anyone know what is the pressure for the pirelli on the standard 19? Switched from the 21 and not sure if PSI is 40 for the pirelli as it was for the Michelin?

Plaid 21” rear tire woes - factory defect?

Just got my set of 19 tempest with the Pirelli installed, love the added comfort. Hope that solve that issue. Funny thing is there were those weird thing in each 21 Michelin tire, anyone knows what this is?

Functional (!) benefits of the yoke?

That’s going to age me, but I remember driving plenty of cars where the horns were not on the center of the wheel but a button on top of the stalks or a separate stalk altogether. Nobody cried bloody murder because of those, and they sold millions of those they where VW‘s, Datsun’s, 1960’s...

Plaid 21” rear tire woes - factory defect?

I have a stupid question, I have a set of 19“ wheels with pirellis (from another plaid) coming my way, do I need to change the TPMS to the one I have on my Michelins or will the car just synch to the new TPMS? I read somewhere that it should be automatic, just want to make sure.

I guess the Falken will be my last resort if the 19 inch set I bought does not come thru.

Plaid 21” rear tire woes - factory defect?

Thinking of going with 19’ tempest wheel as it increases range most likely comfort and pirelli seem to be readily available. There are no difference between the one from a long range Models S (refreshed) and the one on the plaid is there? Found some on Ebay just want to make sure.

Plaid 21” rear tire woes - factory defect?

Went to the tire shop yesterday as I had a slow leak, Bingo, same issue. Sent info to Tesla service. What worries me is my tire shop could not fin a replacement, and Tire Rack has them available only in October. Any ideas? I was thinking of switching to 19’s tempest for the extra range and...

Thoughts on Yoke from Plaid owner

We are starting to worry about your mental health. Go out smell the roses, take a walk, enjoy nature. You obsession is not healthy. You don’t like it we get it. Move the F## on, or sue, this is tiring.

Great, now you are just filling the space. Soon you will be replying to yourself So you can keep those threads going. WE GET IT ! You don’t like the yoke! Stop frothing at the mouth about it and move on, this is getting tiring to have your constant rants. I have the yoke, I like it, to each...

We are not upset, just tired to see the same guy going on and on and on and on about how the yoke is the worse in many many different threads. That’s all.

Further discussion and analysis on why the yoke is not good

Love mine, would not change it for the world and this thread is getting ridiculous. You don’t like it? Fine, drive something else or Install a aftermarket wheel. GET OVER IT! I like it because of: Better Hand position, safer in case of airbag deployment as your hands are where they are supposed...

Functional (!) benefits of the yoke?

Better Hand position, safer in case of airbag deployment as your hands are where they are supposed to be instead of risking to break your elbows. Very comfy for long distance driving. I have the plaid since May and I can do 3 point turn as fast as I used to with a normal wheel. I positioned it...

Model S Refresh: Relatively fatiguing when actually driving long distances?

Defintiely, also the 9 and 3 position feel more natural with the yoke quite low, my arms have a natural bend and not pulled up. I still have room to rotate the whole thing without touching my legs.
  41. S

Got my 2022 Model S LR today!

I had the same question, I have now a model S plaid, I activated the function that moves the seat back and raise and pushes in the yoke and I can get out and in easy without bumping anything and I’m 6’5 chunky and stiff as a board.

"Refreshed" Model S model VIBRATION tracking and information thread!!!

Had the dreaded Vibration between 40/50MPH it was intermittent and seemed very related to the road surface, I thought that could be tire related , did a couple of 400 miles highway day trips, vibration is gone for now.

Model S Refresh: Relatively fatiguing when actually driving long distances?

Just did two 400 miles round trips, found it very relaxing, but the position due to the Yoke is very different that what I setup with a normal wheel. My yoke is much lower than a normal wheel. I can grab the yoke at the proper place and have my elbows resting on the side rests. (I’m 6’5 don’t...

    Honest review of the wheel

I am now on week 3 of my plaid, love the yoke, didn’t take me long to get used to it. I particularly like the blinker placement for some reasons. My grip and hand placement have evolved and I have zero issue in any situations.
