ah! that would explain that then - i dont know of anyone that has a 2021 M3P with a towbar.....i.e the cars without the chrome delete.

random question - your P with a factory tow bar, are you able to remove the tow cover and check if there is a crash beam that goes across the rear bumper. I'm thinking no as it wouldn't fit. if you're able to get a pic, that would be great!

yeah, my P is 0kg rated for towing......anyhoo. wont be towing with it anyway. just for a bike rack.

Another update - tow bar fitting has been booked for the 1st June. Will endevour to upload pictures and how everything goes........ Again - I'm not planning on towing. I just need to carry some bikes.

update from me. The main tow cross bar has arrived, as well as the swan neck. Still chasing Tesla to order the additional bits i need..... :-( getting there....slowly!

It’s exactly that, finding a “nice” ranger to turn on trailer mode. But to be honest, I can probably live without it if it can’t be done.

The hardest part is taking the rear bumper off. If you can manage that, the rest is pretty simple. You’ll need a torque wrench for the bolts. That’s the only “specialist” tool you’ll need.

It’s actually not that scary at all. Once I have all the parts, I’ll list them/photograph the how to.

These are few and far to be honest. Unless you’re spec’ing from new.

Just to make this thread clearer. I've already bought: Tow cross beam 1137916-00-B Tow Swan Neck. Just waiting on Tesla to tell me when i can pick up the electrical parts. It should all be plug and play........assuming i have the grey plug behind the bumper!

maybe its just my bad experience with main dealers - i try not to touch any existing cables in the car.

i did look at after market wiring kits, but my concern is warranty and soldering into the harness. I have USS, so might just live with the beeps for the moment.

I see your point, but it comes back to my first post - if the grey plug is there for the module, the car should be able to have the tow bar fitted (again, not for towing, just for a bike rack). I did find this - MoreTesla.com

Correct! This is needed and what I’ve bought already. :-) Hardware is the tow bar frame (which replaces the rear cross bar) and the tow swan neck.
