    Air Suspension

I have owned the same vehicles (different years), among many other cars used on tracks over the years. My 2022 MYP is also fine around town and has a better ride than the other german performance cars I’ve owned.

Made in Austin Model Y LR: First Impressions

Yes, basic autopilot does this. I'm sure you know this already, but one click down TACC, two clicks down Autopilot. If the blue steering wheel is displayed in the top left of your screen the car will nag you to keep torque applied because the autopilot is engaged. It could also be the lane...

Made in Austin Model Y LR: First Impressions

Check the passenger seatbelt buckle for the rattle. Mine was doing this very loud when it was in a weird spot between the seat and the door. I haven't ever heard it since I moved it. Seatbelt gets used regularly. (It's just if it gets in that one spot where it vibrates on the door plastic).

What’s the better choice? $6K for EAP or $12K for FSD?

At the very least "beta testers" should be able to transfer their very expensive FSD purchase with their account to new cars down the line as a sort of brand loyalty program. They are paying a ridiculous amount of money for something that doesn't even work yet (if ever) without significant...

What’s the better choice? $6K for EAP or $12K for FSD?

Another vote for buying your car without it. Subscribe for a month to see for yourself. Almost everyone that tries it out is glad they didn’t pay a crazy amount of money for what it does in reality. Additionally, EAP is 6k for basically an auto lane change that causes more stress than it's...

    2022 MYP 100% charged =296 mile?

What worked for me- Change to percent. Use car as normal. Never think about it again. No need to stress over expected initial degradation. I worried about miles available for the first week of EV ownership then realized it doesn’t impact my daily usability at all. Plug in when I park in the...

One thing you LOVE and DISLIKE about your Model Y

Hate how this thing keeps logging out of Spotify every other day and won't save your credentials - like every other modern device.

    New Potential future owner

Yes, I tested a MY LR, my local showroom let me take it overnight when they closed for the day and bring it back the next day. I said I wanted to try it at home with all my car seats and stuff. They were super easygoing and had no issue with this. I bought the Performance version but never drove...

Unexpectedly buying a 4680 MY: Hit me w/ your best tips & budget accessories please!

I hate those hard plastic mat materials or heavy-duty rubber ones, the plastic ones get slippery and the grooves fill up with junk and the rubber ones always look dirty the second you put your feet on them, and even after you wash them. My last car came with those and I hated them.

App takes forever to connect to car

I don't have any issue with the phone key not working on ours, I just can't view the screen, like state of charge, or turn on the climate type of stuff. It is about a 30-45 second delay now, which never existed before.

Unexpectedly buying a 4680 MY: Hit me w/ your best tips & budget accessories please!

I don't have a dedicated under-seat storage box but I don't think it would get in the way at all, Those boxes aren't that deep from what I can tell. There is plenty of room from the front still. I keep my Tesla mobile charger bag under the driver's seat to store cleaning supplies and there is...

    Nav system showing alternate routes?

I really wish they would give you 3 route options like Waze or give you an avoid interstate option or something. Telsa always gives me a route on a freeway I HATE due to it being a 6 lane under construction death trap that people wreck on and fork it all up literally every day. I avoid this...

App takes forever to connect to car

Mine was a near-instantaneous connection until a few weeks ago. Now it is like the spinning ball of death, loading...... something clearly forked up with the latest updates. Pretty annoying going from snappy to windows 95.

Unexpectedly buying a 4680 MY: Hit me w/ your best tips & budget accessories please!

Really like these mats from amazon. They fit perfectly, contour around the seat mounts in the rear better than anything else I have found, and can be hosed off and look like new in seconds. Currently, there is a $15 off coupon. https://a.co/d/bnl7zcq I have these for the trunk, sub trunk, and...

    New Potential future owner

I agree. I thought he meant he just had to charge outside at home. Like no garage or carport. If you can't charge at home "at all", I am not sure if I would go this route unless you have a close non-busy local supercharger or do little driving. Our local superchargers in Dallas can get...

    New Potential future owner

Yes. No there is no option on the car to automatically soften the ride without going to aftermarket suspension or changing tires/wheels/tire pressure. 2022 MYP ride is improved over older models, and not bad at all in my opinion. Could it be better? Always, but our family has zero issues with...

    New Potential future owner

Not a problem to let it sit all week, but you would want to probably turn off sentry mode and potentially cabin overheat protection to reduce battery drain. Sentry mode uses something like 0.5 - 1 mph, they claim. Not noticeable if you charge every day, but could be problematic if the car sits...

Air conditioning system strength (in general)

Our model Y AC is great, it has been 100-110 daily temps for the past 2 months here. Zero issues. Even if I forget to precondition and leave it in the parking lot at 105 degrees outside for an hour (like I did yesterday with my toddler). I hit the fan on the app approaching the car and it was...

Brand New 22 MYP 4,400 Road Trip

add - concrete freeways with expansion joints. Incredibly annoying I can't use cruise control on this type of surface which are everywhere around us. The time of day doesn't matter. Slams on the brakes randomly on these sections of the road, with nothing else around, no trees, cars, or overpasses.

Poor initial experience with my Tesla Model Y Performance

Obviously, Tesla should and likely will remedy any of these issues. Wondering why issues such as scratches and trim weren't reported in the 24-hour delivery window they give you to look over everything and report it? Our delivery center said if we notice ANYTHING once we got home to report it...

Poor initial experience with my Tesla Model Y Performance

We have a new model Y performance (June 22 build) and don’t have any of these issues. We just took it on a 1700-mile trip a couple of weeks ago and I drove it 6 hours to Austin to the Tesla giga factory on Thursday for the cyber roundup event. It has been nearly perfect. The only rattle I had...

How well does the glass roof reflect heat?

Model Y Performance. Just comparing based on posts of people having very different experiences with heat and wanting more tint. Plus non scientific observations at superchargers of cars parked next to me. Mine just typically looks darker. Something must be going on different if others are...

How well does the glass roof reflect heat?

I do know about the protective coatings on the roof glass, there is a good Tesla promo video on it also. I was just saying how dark my new June build is (comparatively). Just did a factory tour at Giga Austin yesterday at the cyber roundup, wish I would have thought to ask someone there about...

    2022 shareholder meeting in-person

I thought it was worth going also. Very cool to see the factory in person. More impressive than I expected and cool to see the guts of my car model being built. Elon had some funny comments like “returning to his home planet”. Thought the shouting and boo’s were pretty unprofessional and...

How well does the glass roof reflect heat?

I don’t have any tools to measure mine, but the roof and hatch look like limo tint. You can’t see anything through them from the outside. Makes me wonder why people are concerned about people seeing stuff in their trunk so they tint it darker. It must be different because I could leave piles of...

    2022 shareholder meeting in-person

Casual Dress, displays, factory tours and event merch. Tours available 1-3pm and 6:30-8pm. Semi, cybertruck, lots of other cool displays. Well organized. Factory floor is super cool and way more impressive in person. Scale in person is far beyond what you get from pictures. Took 20 minutes to...

    removing MY side mirrors

If more people learned how to use the side mirrors, there wouldn’t be an “I curbed my Tesla wheel” thread every other day.

How well does the glass roof reflect heat?

I guess they updated the coating or something because some of the comments about sweating and baking heads just don't make any sense for my car. My MYP is brand new and built June 2022, you can look directly at the overhead sun through it (I can’t do this with my sunglasses), and no perceptible...

How well does a new 2022 MYP ride?

Agree. We just did a 1700 mile trip WITH a sleeping baby in our new MYP. Rides totally fine.

    Tesla Owners' Everyday Navigation Use

I always use it. Extremely easy to use and need it living in major metro areas for traffic routing. Previously used Waze, the only thing missing with Tesla is Police/accident warnings, and would like it to give me the three route options like Waze did. Sometimes I prefer to avoid certain...

How well does the glass roof reflect heat?

Same. I don’t understand why people are touching the roof anyway. It’s 103 full sun here right now. 6’4” and I don’t feel ANY roof heat sitting in the car. None. However, if you put your hand in front of the untinted windshield you can feel heat coming in.

    model y performance range

Most stops were planned onscreen for 15 - 25 minutes, 35 was about the longest (planned) stop we ever did. Most of our stops were at 250kW chargers with nobody parked next to us to slow it down. We usually weren't even done with what we were doing when the car was ready to continue so we...

    Autopilot Utility

You are not wrong. For me, this system takes more effort to try to anticipate and stop the nagging, or anticipate braking for no reason that it creates more stress than actually just driving the car. Just completed a 1700 mi trip. Within the first 200 mi (on the freeway) with no traffic...

How well does the glass roof reflect heat?

It's been 100-109 here for weeks. Zero issues with feeling any heat from the glass roof on our new MYP. Just drove 1700 miles across the southern US in full sun (100* plus). No issues with heat. The windshield driving into the afternoon sun is a different story. That's where the heat is coming...

    model y performance range

Ours seemed to do a bit better than that. Brand new MYP. We just completed a 1700-mile trip yesterday. 21" Uberturbines, stock Michelins. 2 adults + 2 kids & car seats in the car, frunk packed full, sub trunk and cargo area full to the roof with strollers, pack and plays, and luggage, 40lb...

False Positive Automatic Emergency Braking at 80mph

I have only had the car for a few weeks. I did not even know to look for that until I read these posts here. It happened so fast that I was more concerned with having an infant in the car and getting creamed by the large truck behind us at the time. All I know is there was an ultra-loud alarm...

I also got the selection email on July 8th and submitted the info requested within the window. No replies since. Would be interesting to know how many people were selected. 300? 10,000? Also hoping we can get some kind of a tour or walkthrough before the meeting. If it turns out to be nothing...

False Positive Automatic Emergency Braking at 80mph

I got one today. For no valid reason on a two lane road. Just normal traffic driving the other way in their lane. MYP slammed on brakes as hard as possible with alarms going off. 40mph to zero in about 1 second. No chance to even react in time. Extremely close to being smashed by the big diesel...

Phantom Braking Needs to be Reported and Fixed

This vehicle badly needs a dumb cruise control. For the past 10+ years I always have used regular cruise control with zero issue to avoid tickets around town/county due to speed traps everywhere in the 25-55mph zones. This TACC system is dangerous how it SLAMS on the brakes on two lane roads...

Is it worth it to get PPF and/or ceramic coating? What is a fair price?

If it was a few hundred bucks to saran wrap your car, then "maybe" I could see people doing it. But $4000+ is asinine. DIY front bumper and in front of rear wheels where it gets all chipped up from road debris is the only thing remotely worth considering in my opinion. I have had over 20...

Model y long rang verses performance model y

I don’t understand why people even want to square up the wheels on a MYP if keeping uberturbines (and not going aftermarket or to induction/gemini). You would have to buy 2 extra back 10.5” wheels to match at $400+ each AND buy the bigger more expensive tires to match. Plus you are going to end...

Model y long rang verses performance model y

Exactly. I did not mean it in some ridiculous way:rolleyes:. This is why it said “if she is not the cautious type”. Obviously there are both types, and he said it was for his wife. Although, I have the same experience as you, my wife and her friends toting kids around don't care at all about...

Model y long rang verses performance model y

My 2022 MYP is not "jarring" or "clunky" over broken concrete or crappy roads. It is a firm ride, but not harsh like some of my previous sports cars. It is compliant enough to be totally fine for daily driving, similar to other performance german cars we own. It is a 500+Hp performance vehicle...

    MYP Estimated delivery date

Definitely not right. Actually just this morning, I discovered just behind the photo area the weatherstrip on mine (top rear passenger door) was also messed up. It was folded under the headliner so the edge of the headliner was exposed for about 6-8 inches, you could put your finger between the...

    MYP Estimated delivery date

I just picked up mine in Dallas with Michelin A/S. Every other MYP in the lot waiting for delivery had Michelins also. I really did not want the summers since they wear out so fast plus we get about a month of freezing with ice storms. Agree you should get a choice if they are randomly giving...
