    FSD Beta 12.3 GA

Got 12.3 on my 21 M3LR yesterday. First drive was surprisingly good and smooth. Second drive, car took what should be a very standard and easy right turn and hit the curb with the rear right wheel, causing a small curb rash. Hopefully it didn't mess up anything else.

Losing battery rapidly [due to sentry mode]

The car being "awake" uses about 0.25kW (per other posts on this forum). That amounts to at least 6kWh or about 8% per day. Keeping Sentry/cameras activated and constantly connecting to the car via the app likely ups that energy consumption. The car "asleep" (sentry off) should not have any...

Model 3 with FSD on Road Trip

You are confused and I would urge you to stop using Autopilot until you get a better understanding. Please do not do any "testing on the highway" until your confusion is completely dispelled. Autopilot (engaged with two down pulls of the right stalk) is essentially Traffic Aware Cruise Control...

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

You're clearly taking Elon's comment here out of context. He's obviously talking about photons as they pertain to sensory input for driving which has nothing to do with his general views on humanity, whatever they may be... Your attack on Elon here is not very objective and diminishes whatever...

    Loud snapping or popping noise

I've experiences this a handful of times. At first I thought it was a rock hitting the windshield. It sounds like it could be coming from a speaker near the driver side A pillar.

FSD Owners - Do any of you prefer leaving it off?

I just do not see the value in EAP. Paying $6k for basically lane change capability on a 40k car seems unproportionate. Maybe if it at least stopped at red lights, you could argue it has more utility. $12k for FSD can be justified IF you convince yourself that one day it will do what Tesla...

FSD Owners - Do any of you prefer leaving it off?

I agree. If you treat FSD as really good TACC it works well. Once you learn its limitations, you can anticipate and take over during its limitations. This strategy tends to work really well on my normal routes since FSD tends to screw up in same situations/roads/intersections.

FSD Owners - Do any of you prefer leaving it off?

I got 11.4.7.3 today and tested it on a 60 mile non-highway round trip. They seem to have ironed out some quirks that made 11.4.7.2 unsafe and unusable on this particular road I take all the time. Overall it was a good run (not perfect) and I'm encouraged to use FSDb more.

    FSD Beta v11.x

FSDb seems to be a lot better than AP as far as phantom braking goes. Of course there are other issues with FSDb. In my experience FSDb does really well on highways and major routes.

Do cars that currently have USS get them disabled in a software update?

Did 2023.27.6 stop using USS? Sure seems like it after my most recent update. My USS seem to be working very poorly on the 2021 M3 LR. Anyone able to confirm?

Uncomfortable Front Seat(s) / Thigh Bolster Mod

Uncomfortable Front Seat(s) / Thigh Bolster Mod

No offense pal, but if you're not willing to share your "trade secret" then why keep bringing up your solution every time someone else posts about what they did? I see you writing up a lengthy post every time someone else posts about their own idea. You came up with a brilliant idea and you...

    FSD almost caused a crash..

I'm definitely experiencing the same issue as OP since 11.4. This was a non issue in 11.3.6. I disengage and send a message every time, but who knows how this information is used.

Make sure you can remove the caps with ease without breaking the clips. You don't want to test this out six months later when you're rotating wheels just to find a bunch of broken clips.

I think I have the wrong Tesla and I kinda hate it, lol

I debated between M3 vs MY. I knew MY would be roomier and more versatile, but I knew that if I got it I would miss the sporty feel and have regrets. I ended up with a '21 M3LR+AB and never regretted my choice. Even though we own another efficient CUV, the M3 is the preferred family car and we...

    FSD Beta v11.x

11.4.2 here on M3LR I find it to be adequate most of the time with some improvements and regressions compared to 11.3.6. With experience I can anticipate where it will do poorly and simply disengage. My most recent experience was FSDb driving around debris (blown out truck tire) at 60 mph. I...

    Funny FSD story

This is why I called BS: 1) Cruise control has been around for many years yet he said it was not possible? 2) Most people drive around the speed limit around the police for the fear of being pulled over. Why would this officer be amazed that you're driving the speed limit? They're tasked with...

Vendor Kavanic Uberturbine style wheel cover for 18” Model 3 Aero Wheels (Available in US Canada & EU)

I tried these. They looked good but the problem is the quality. They are made of brittle, thin plastic material. Expect to break the retention clips when you remove the wheel caps. The quality pales in comparison to the OEM caps which are made of thicker and more flexible material that will...

I believe if you’re on the most recent (2023) software you will not be able to use FSD beta. You’ll have to wait until it catches up to your build. Current FSD IS 2022.45.15. I wold wait to subscribe

Switch to hourly pricing for charging at home

I live in NW Chicago burbs and I tried this about 1-2 years ago. My monthly net electric costs were consistently higher. Maybe I wasn't optimizing daily use. Without the plan I currently average about $0.14/kWh (supply, delivery, tax). It just doesn't seem worth it to save a few $ per month.

MAR2023: My Experience Driving 1,367mi Down Into California and Back

This is wrong. Why would the "waste over time" be the same? That's a false assumption. For example the extra load comes from the fact that you'll need additional energy to overcome work done by the road friction on the trailer and additional aerodynamic drag. Or you're driving up a hill. This...

MAR2023: My Experience Driving 1,367mi Down Into California and Back

Your math isn't necessarily true. First, if you Double the power, you use 100% more energy and then account for 90% efficiency. Second, while EVS are kings of efficiency, that does not apply to highway driving and towing. In both cases your efficiency will not be close to 90%...hence the massive...

Wiki MASTER THREAD: Actual FSD Beta downloads and experiences

Good post. I can confirm that most of the above seems to apply to 13.3.4. The 2nd lane change (due to manually signaling) is quite disconcerting because most people don't expect it and it seems like the car is loosing control. It caused me to disengage until I figured out what it was...

MAR2023: My Experience Driving 1,367mi Down Into California and Back

I agreed that Tesla/EV is not ideal road tripping car, especially in your circumstances. I don't agree that the problems you ran into were unforeseen and the car is to blame. I'm not looking to start a forum war, but expecting to get 254 miles to a nearest Supercharger at highway speeds when...

MAR2023: My Experience Driving 1,367mi Down Into California and Back

This may sound harsh and critical, but it may be worth it for the future readers that might be disuaded from buying a Tesla based on your less than objective criticism: I'm amazed that you decided to go on a road trip with the nearest Supercharger 254 miles away. Any amount of research would...

    V11 Actual Experiences

I took a 800 mile road trip using AP/NOA and was disappointed I didn't get the V11 update in time. I got the 11.3.4 update while at my destination and got to use FSDb for about 100 miles around town and twisty country roads and during the 800 mile highway trip home. I've had really good...

The Major Problem With FSD That Tesla Won’t Acknlowledge

It's currently really bad. I've tried it several times this winter with roads completely covered in snow and it is dangerous. I find that otherwise FSDb performs fine most of the time, but still needs work in some situations.

Buying used M3. FSD or EAP?

How much are you paying? It has to be also compared to a new Tesla price with tax credit. I got my slightly used low miles M3 with FSD last year and I'm very happy with it. It also came with AB, wheels, paint at no added cost. No way would I pay the $15k but the marginal markup at the time...

Manual turns with FSD by using turn signals

How hard would it be for Tesla to include a 2nd and 3rd option in gray at major intersections so you could change the route on the fly. You click on 2nd option in gray and the car turns instead of going straight. Then add the function for the stalks to do this selection. The car would have to...

Not sure why people need physical buttons for climate control

I agree that all the complaining about the lack of physical buttons is silly. Once upon a time, some manufacturers (like Honda) replaced physical volume/seek buttons with quirky non functioning digital buttons on poor quality touchscreens or haptic feedback buttons that were so hard to use...
