About a day after getting the message that my MYLR would be built in a few weeks, I got an updated EDD that was 2 weeks instead of 1 month, AND it was 1 week sooner than the previous 1 month EDD. How long can I expect to wait for the VIN?

There is no benefit to the owner of the car to have the 4680. It is the exact same chemistry as the 2170 only 5X more capacity in each cell. The benefit is a cost reduction to Tesla by making and installing 5X fewer cells. No performance difference in the vehicle however.

Yeah, that's crazy! 7 weeks out and they can quote a 3-day window? I don't buy it.

I read elsewhere that it is common for the EDD to briefly get the "new order" date before quickly adjusting to the real date which should be much closer. I'm no expert with insight to the Tesla mind, but you may find that the true EDD will soon change to within the next two weeks.
