Really the only thing that safely gets rid of VOCs is to remove the source or time and temperature. New cars have bad off gassing. It takes several months to a couple years for the level to go down to background.

Upon further investigation there appears to be water intrusion into the driver side front fender camera/turn signal. It showed up after this major storm we just had. My guess is it’s a coincidence and the software update isn’t to blame. I won’t know for sure until they can replace the camera.

My 2022 Model 3 SR just updated to 2023.44.30.8 and all day long I’ve been getting messages saying “autopilot cameras unavailable” and “emergency braking unavailable”. They will go away and then come back. My cameras aren’t dirty or blocked. Anyone else see this? New bug?

The filter is too close to the evaporator, so in some circumstances the moisture leftover on the evaporator dries into the filter, wetting the filter, and causing mold to grow. Has anyone stuck a camera in the drain pan area after the AC is run? I wonder if there are just low spots or ridges in the plastic preventing the water from completely draining.

We have a GTI and a Q5 (2017 and 2013). A family member just got a Y. Subjectively the GTI has the least panel gap issues. The Q5 had some noticeable gaps near the lift gate. The Y had a few, but it wasn’t much worse than the Q5. None of the cars have had body work. /shrug

Does anyone who's model 3 developed this issue have significant mold allergies? Did this issue trigger them? Did cleaning it get rid of the symptoms? Or was it more of just a smell issue?

I get pretty sick in the presence of air conditioners that have grown mold or bacteria - both in buildings and in cars. It’s a concentrated source and it’s creating contamination in a small enclosed space. It’s best to deal with the issue.

I think they are using a Tesla branded version of the Mann “Frecious Plus” filters. These have a yellow layer that is supposed to inhibit microbial growth. Does it work - I guess we are finding out.

Just a thought, has anyone tried spraying peroxide on the evaporator? Or via the intake? Would it damage anything? It’s pretty innocuous and does a good job of getting rid of mildew.

Is there really a concern for the car getting too hot while parked without “cabin overheat protection” turned on with AC? It seems like nearly every other car on the road doesn’t have this feature and they all have screens and are fine. Is this a necessity? Or just a nice to have?
