    MYLR7 Sound Deadening

No, it didn't eliminate it but the combined effort helped a good amount. I would say that 5/6" OD vinyl tubing + 3d printed hatch stops + hatch stop adjustment solved most of the "booming" problem for me. It's possible sound deadening the trunk and wheel wells also helped by reducing sound...

    MYLR7 Sound Deadening

Came back for measurements after the front-end work. See attached for SPL C-weighted charts + SPL-A weighted average dB reading (in the box) Impact was not as big as initial trunk+back wheel well work, but it was noticeable. Very happy with the result

    MYLR7 Sound Deadening

When I asked about foam and rockwool they noted that both can help (adding basically anything helps with absorption). In their typical approach they seldom add rockwool because there isn't a huge amount of open space and the end result is cleaner with layered MLV and foam. Rather than spend time...

    MYLR7 Sound Deadening

Agreed, I think we put some material on the wheel shroud to have the contact points be dampened / reduce risk of rattle. Most of the material was added to the metal elements underneath. I'm also not an audio engineer, but these folks at Sound Innovations seem to know what they are doing haha.

Added some pictures, sound measurements will come in a couple weeks when I go back for re-measurement. I think we took both A and C weighted SPL this time, so something to look forward to :) https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/posts/7512295/

    MYLR7 Sound Deadening

I went back for work on the front wheel wells, wanted to share pictures. Am going back in a couple weeks for sound measurements (aiming same time and day of week as before measurements we already took), will share those as well. Layperson's experience is that the front deadening helped with...

    Ear pain/Pressure help

Will do, need to go back for measurement and transfer photos. They did it from the underside — took our wheel well trim and padded that way. Needed to take off the wheels to do it. Here is one pic I got mid-way

    MYLR7 Sound Deadening

Aye if only. The lowest quote I got for full ppf was 6k, sound deadening was half that like the other guy guessed. Any less and I think it would be a hack job around the Bay Area — wish it weren’t so but alas haha I ordered the materials you suggest and will attempt to add sound absorbtion DIY :)

    Ear pain/Pressure help

The latter -- rear sound deadening (and doors, which I did at the same time) helped with deep resonant sounds but some still remained. Deadening the front wheel wells helped further and also cut road noise (noticeable to my family members, but haven't taken measurements yet). Overall things are...

    Ear pain/Pressure help

This aligns with my experience -- after sound deadening the trunk and rear wheel wells, adding door seals, putting in trunk hatch vinyl tube, and adjusting stoppers it felt like most of the remaining noise was coming from the front. Went back to add sound deadening on front wheel wells and it...

    Ear pain/Pressure help

Having inserted 5/16 tubing, removed it, inserted 3/8 tubing, removed it, and re-inserted 5/16 tubing I would say it's easy enough (5-10min each time) to do with a little bit of silicone spray (little holes clutch) and massaging. Removing and re-seating the seal seems like more work, but if you...

    MYLR7 Sound Deadening

They did not. I also have a small rattle from the plastic, especially when the car is hot. I talked to Ernie about it when I was setting up the plan and he said they are usually reluctant to put sound deadening in the trunk hatch itself because the motor/sensor is sensitive to the added weight...

    2023 MYLR7 Accessories Early Thoughts

Updating to add that unfortunately driver's side clip fell out and was lost last week, causing the mudflap to be loose. I inserted a spare (from the not installed rear set) and used some double-sided tape to help reduce the odds of it falling out. Reached out to Basenor and they offered to send...

    2023 MYLR7 Accessories Early Thoughts

Thanks for the suggestion -- got this added and I think it looks great, matches the design of the others, and protects the seat backs from muddy stroller wheels and the like. I picked up the only variant (fits both 5 and 7 seats) That's correct there is no cutout but as BelugaWhale noted you...

    Ear pain/Pressure help

I couldn't leave well enough alone. I got a 3/8" OD (1/4" ID) tube and tried it out. I ended up going back to the 5/16" OD (3/16" ID) tube afterwards due to angry pop and inconsistent trunk closing. Some notes: Removing the 5/16" tube took a little bit of work, more silicone lubricant and...

    Ear pain/Pressure help

2023 MYLR7. I followed the guidance here and installed 5/16 OD (3/16 ID) tubing with the help of WD-40 "Silicone Specialist" spray (I tried using dupont drip silicone lubricant first, but it was hard to avoid getting it everywhere -- and that little straw on the Silicone Specialist fits right...

    2023 MYLR7 Accessories Early Thoughts

To quickly follow up -- not sure I have found any place that is selling a 3d maxpider 2nd row seatback liner for 7 seaters (the 2nd row is different between 5 and 7 seaters, so not sure if the same would fit)

    2023 MYLR7 Accessories Early Thoughts

If you mean back of the middle row, then no I haven't tried those. Just have the trunk mat that also covers the 3rd row seats -- I'll place an order and follow up, as it did concern me that the 2nd row seat backs are exposed to cargo.

    MYLR7 Sound Deadening

Worked with Ernie at Sound Innovations to get sound deadening for my 2023 MYLR7 and also to install the RPM Tesla noise reduction kit. I'm impressed with the end result (less so the kit) and would recommend sound deadening at Sound Innovations to anyone on the fence. Noticeably less outside...

    2023 MYLR7 Accessories Early Thoughts

Picked up my MYLR7 on New Year's Eve 2022 and have put a little over a thousand miles on it since then. In anticipation of delivery I had gone overboard on various basic accessories and now having lived with them for a couple months I thought I would share my experience so far. Curious also if...

Help with buying Model Y new(2023) vs old

I'd also go with new. New is likely to have the upgraded Ryzen MCU (vs. Atom) which makes for a smoother user interface. Same story with comfort suspension. If you're lucky, you may also get matrix headlights now (less common before Nov 22). None of these are retrofit upgradeable at this time...

Happy to report that pickup went pretty smooth! Went early to the delivery center, patiently waited for a bit, then SA came over, unlocked the car and gave me as much time to look as I'd like before accepting delivery. Did not feel rushed at all, and was relieved to not find anything of concern...

I gave in and accepted an alternate config to score that sweet $7500 and supercharger credit. After sleeping on it I decided that color couldn't possibly be worth that much, and the tax credit would come pretty far down the line. Switched from White/White/7/Tow/FSD to Black/Black/7/Tow FSD...

    7 seat waiting room

When is the last time we say 7 seat white interior VINs assigned? I recall mid-Nov we had some folks on the East Coast take delivery, and it seems like all of the 7 seat builds since then have been black interior. It seems like Tesla makes builds in batches, and possibly the white seat and 7...

I wonder if it's the same one they offered me. I got a call after saying "YES" to the text and they told me that the only 7 seater in CA that could be delivered by the end of they year was a black/black no tow in Sacramento area. I decided to pass and keep waiting. The SA did say to expect some...

Got the $3,750 text on 12/9, EDD still just "December" When I texted asking if it was really happening still this year they told me it is "likely" I'll be able to take delivery still this year. A follow-up yesterday was met with canned response about unable to provide exact delivery dates at...

For completeness, I did get the "Several Weeks" text on 11/15, nothing since then and EDD still just Dec. I noticed that everyone with a 7 seat white interior is stuck on "Dec" -- hope that still turns out to be Dec :-/
