    Ioniq 5N markups have started

The HI5N would absolutely dominate an m3P for handling or acceleration, with 0-60 being the only chance for parity for the weaker Tesla, and real world range is very similar to the ev6 GT, which is about 240-260mi. The Tesla probably gets 260-280mi real world, by comparison from what Ive seen...

    Ioniq 5N markups have started

EV6 GT saw similar. I refused and paid MSRP. Tesla marked their cars up $20k and called it msrp, so there's that.

    PSAS4 vs CC2 tires on a Kia EV6 GT

Evo as and psas4 returned near identical range for me. Both averaged 3.3-3.5 on my daily commute in the summer. The ions werent near as good in the wet.

    PSAS4 vs CC2 tires on a Kia EV6 GT

I ran the car in eco mode and tried to drive gently. I used the seat heaters briefly, but really didn't need any heat. I did defog the windscreen every now and then if it fogged. Basically hypermiled it. OEM rims CC2. Temp on the dash. Note the commute distances and times. Same circuit pretty much.

    20 year personal study on 18650 durability/longevity

This covers about half a decade of testing on 15 year old batteries (making them roughly 20 years old as of my last test). Some of this is rather dry, but for people who nerd out and wonder about 18650 and by extension other lithium battery life, it may be of interest.

    PSAS4 vs CC2 tires on a Kia EV6 GT

I took this for you this morning after getting home from the gym. Temp is accurate for the drive. Tires once warm were 34psi front, 37 rear. 32 and 35, cold, respective. Oem rims with cc2s. Tread depth 9-10/32. Roughly 3k mi on them. Drive mode normal. Beginning SoC 80%.

    PSAS4 vs CC2 tires on a Kia EV6 GT

Its been 45-55, and my daily commute is 2.8 or so, on oem size cc2. During summer, ion as suv returned 3.5, as did my psas4s. Upon returning home after driving 82mi, psas4 said 112mi left, ion said 116mi left, or some meaninglessly small difference. (Initial soc 80). During -7-0f temps, on...

    Drove the Highland Yesterday.

This is awesome news! Tesla is learning how to make a proper vehicle, and I can't wait to see the new MYP "Highland" or whatever it will be called. They may earn my business next time around with that one.

Gas vs EV in extreme cold

I lose about 35% in the cold. ICE vehicles lose about 20-25%. For me "Cold" is about 0*f. I also get near instant heat in my EV. Literally every year my neighbor's group chat goes crazy about "My car/tractor/whatever won't start/stay running/just dies". Never made a post like that myself with my EV.

    EV6 GT Range at 0F

45 min at one gym, 30 at the other (I do cardio at a different gym), and maybe 45 min at the DMV. Another 30 to 45min was spent at my insurance agent. Didnt list that or the cardio gym stop initially.

    EV6 GT Range at 0F

Drove to the gym and DMV and home, about 85 miles. I used 64% of the battery to do it. The car was garaged in a 19*f detached garage, and driven into -7F weather, and by the time I was home it had warmed to 9*f. Snowy, hilly backroads, some 70mph freeway for a good bit, and some 55mph rural...

2024 Hyundai IONIQ 6 Rebate Undercuts Model 3 Highland By $9,000

Its saddled with the slow Tesla chargers. But the chargers are reliable and plentiful, so google maps your planned use case and see which is truly better. It doesn't blow other performance EVs out of the water in handling or accelerating. The features are basically good software and thats about...

Missouri. It was 53f on my way to the gym at 8pm last night. It is currently 22f now at 1030am. If you can get an idea of what my local weather is, please let me know.

    PSAS4 vs CC2 tires on a Kia EV6 GT

I've well over 1k miles on the new tires now, and the range disparity appears to have dropped to 7.5% vs the used psas4s.

    PSAS4 vs CC2 tires on a Kia EV6 GT

I put about 200mi on them this weekend. The tires have around 600mi on them at present. It was cold, and my range in the 30-40*f area is usually 155-165mi with the PSAS4's, worn. With these tires I was averaging 140-145mi on the "guess o meter" (which I have tested to be within 0.5% of...

    PSAS4 vs CC2 tires on a Kia EV6 GT

I have now delved into comparing the two. I put roughly 18k miles on my PSAS4 tires on a Kia EV6 GT, and my findings were that the tires when new would provide a 60' time on dry pavement of 1.86-1.87 seconds. They would provide a 60' time on wet pavement with standing water visible, of around...

What income to afford a Plaid?

My GT offers different modes. It sounds about like that, with Sport vs. Normal changing the AWD (it keeps the front axles locked in Sport), and throttle mapping. Oddly 0-60 in Sport vs. Normal is identical, and then eco, with a much slower 0-60 (mid 7's), and then GT (low 3s). It also of course...

    2024 Hyundai Ioniq 5 N

My only issue with it is the low profile tires. I always buy CNA extended coverage on my cars, and WILDLY! the one thing they will void you for is putting non-OEM rims on a car, which would be necessary to run a 40-45 series tire like I'd prefer for my uses. I have seen some 0-60's and 1/4 mile...

Thoughts on the i4 M50 from a former M3P owner

In my GT, yes, but I wouldn't want to. The regen is why it has no brake issues. It can brake over 300kw of regen. Kia did amazing with it and it shows in the lap times.

I continue to be amazed at the hatred for EVs

Can you even hear it? Ive run cars that are pretty loud (modded 5.0, Panamera 2.9 turbo, etc) and the only one I really heard was a audi r8 with exhaust. EVs are quiet.
  29. U

I continue to be amazed at the hatred for EVs

Oh, for sure. Im just saying he invented nothing. He bought it and then hired development. He squeezed out the original talent and took the company over and shaped its culture to suit himself.

I continue to be amazed at the hatred for EVs

Elon is unconventional in that he will "get things done" and he is not squeamish about where his talent comes from. The man is an excellent talent scout and obviously is intelligent, but Elon didn't "make" Tesla. He sought and bought Tesla and its talent. Nothing wrong with that at all.

I continue to be amazed at the hatred for EVs

Why are they hateful? Because we live in a society that has muted consequences. We need to normalize not speaking to each other in a way online that we are not prepared to speak in person, and not to say words or make gestures from behind laminated glass that we are not willing to have in the...

The DOJ Tesla probe has expanded to include EV driving ranges

Yes, I would indeed feel ripped off if the CEO of Kia was like "Bruh! We charged you $64K for a $36K car!" You bet I'd 1) be mad if I had already bought, or 2) not buy that car. That said, we know that Tesla is padded to the gills with profit per car, and it absolutely shows in the total lack of...

    Rode in Ionic 6 Today

My experience with 350kw chargers is that even derated, they push 130-150. My ev6 just flat curves that and still does about 20 minutes charge times. My volvo C40 would be 30-35min at full charger capability. Pretty significant. Ive only encountered one ccs charge station that didn't work for...

EV's are luxury cars, is the market perception. They are also depreciating assets. All luxury depreciating assets plummet during times like these, economically.

The DOJ Tesla probe has expanded to include EV driving ranges

The drivetrain in my Kia does not "nose over". It just PULLS. To get that out of a Tesla, you have to spend a lot more and step in to S/X. Also, eLSD is pretty awesome. That's part of why the much heavier EV6 GT outperforms the M3P on the track by a large margin (stock for stock). The Biermann...

The DOJ Tesla probe has expanded to include EV driving ranges

Tesla does have the best charging network. It will be opened up to me next year. That said, I charge at home 99% of the time. I much prefer the drivetrain in my Kia to anything Tesla has until we get into the S and X. But that's another price tier up. Software...in what way is Tesla better...

The DOJ Tesla probe has expanded to include EV driving ranges

When the world pays my bills I'll care. I just want accurately represented products. Tesla needs to do that for me to consider them when I replace my Kia. If not, Ill buy another HMG product.
  47. U

The DOJ Tesla probe has expanded to include EV driving ranges

I think the reason people complain about Teslas here is that yours was advertised to get 300+ mi range.
  48. U

The DOJ Tesla probe has expanded to include EV driving ranges

My Volvo would begin a trip with a destination estimate, and it was never more than 2% off. My EV6 GT, not quite so good, but at least it will account for recent driving activity and update as I go. The Tesla accounts for and adjusts for nothing, as I understand it.
  49. U

The DOJ Tesla probe has expanded to include EV driving ranges

Yes, this is due to the increased drag of the EV6 vs the MY, but also consider the Kia makes 576hp and the Tesla significantly less. I don't know how or if that affects efficiency.
