First Refreshed Model X Deliveries in July

Out of curiosity, what ICE cars do you have?

    Good Time to Sell

I know. It's insane. We just sold ours for about $9k more than we would've gotten for it had we sold six months ago. I think it's partly a function of used car demand, but also a function of 0 new Model X availability. I'm sure prices will come down once the new ones are released.

“Classic” Model X compared to Model X refresh

I'm also a happy camper with my '18 100D. Remains to be seen whether the new steering wheel (and lack of stalks) will be a usability problem. Also agree that the screen in the back is a nightmare waiting to happen if you have kids. That area (with the cupholders) already gets terrorized right...

Anyone thinking of switching to a refresh Model X?

Having owned cars from every major German luxury brand and now having owned a Model X for 2.5 years, I can assure you that the X feels nothing like a Kia.

    If you had a do-over...

We've got an X and a 3, but if we were in the market now, we'd probably get an S. I don't think anyone sees a major interior or exterior refresh coming soon and those are the only things that would give me pause. The internals are very, very new.

Is it me, or is the Model Y really ugly?

I can't bring myself to like the Y either. In certain trims, like the performance in blue, it doesn't look so bad. But the garden variety looks generic, a little Prius-like in its profile and not sleek. I never loved the 3, but next to the Y it looks much sleeker. The S is still my favorite...

Model X IRS 100% Deduction “Hummer Loophole” - 2018 Edition

The real question is what exactly are you driving it for when you say you're driving it for business. There's a lot of abuse of this particular loophole, I'm sure. If you're just commuting to the office, that won't cut it.

Model X Wannabe: How to convince the wife?

So what exactly is her objection? If the finances permit and it's a nice upgrade from what you currently have, why is she saying no? I had to fight this battle, too, but my wife loved the layout of the six seater and it's way easier to get kids in and out with the falcon wing doors. She's loved...

Postscript - 2,000 Mile (and Back) Road Trip with Two Kids

I have both a 3 and a pre-Raven X. Estimates are probably a bit conservative, but charging speed is definitely slower than on the 3, which is to be expected. That said, I’ve taken many, many trips in the X and would be hesitant to do the same with the 3. The X is amazing for traveling with a...

    Spotify hangs Media Center

yes, this works perfectly and it boggles my mind that it seems like a lot of people have given up on Spotify because they didn’t utilize this simple fix. Annoying but works. Also, sometimes songs may fail to load because another device of yours somewhere else is already playing music using the...

Elon Confirms S & X Are Chopped Liver

I agree with another poster that if the S and X aren’t updated, we might have to go back to a gas car for one of our two cars. Not ideal, but we’re not getting another X at this point.

    Some people don't understand

I’m in the other corner of Ohio and there are enough Teslas out here that only the Model 3 owners wave, and even then most of them don’t. The X and S owners have never once waved.
  15. B

How does every clean their model 3? Is Automatic car wash a bad idea?

I’m in that same boat. I’m past caring about micro scratches that no one will notice. I get a waxing two or three times a year and then use reputable automatic car washes in between. Car looks great.

Tesla Model 3 initial impressions (and compare to. BMW 5-series)

Not sure where you live, but a BMW isn’t really impressing too many people these days. Teslas on the other hand are a much rarer commodity relatively speaking. And because most people associate Tesla pricing with the >$80-90k price tag of the S and the X, it may very well be viewed by many as...

    Accident while on EAP...

The fact that OP was asleep to me points directly to driver error. There are so many things that could’ve gone wrong that were induced by OP. EAP has never failed to stop for me in two Teslas in the exact same scenario as OP’s. On the other hand, OP easily could’ve accidentally disengaged EAP...

How are Europeans liking Model 3?

I’m coming from an Audi and a BMW. The Model 3 is louder, but not to the point where I’d consider it a nuisance. The Audi was like a library on the inside, which was nice but also completely unnecessary.

Tesla Model 3 initial impressions (and compare to. BMW 5-series)

There’s an easy fix to the auto steering thing. Rather than feeling like you have to modulate pressure in the wheel all the time, just turn the volume knob up and down. Does the same thing. Thank me later. :)

This must be said - GREAT experience with Tesla

Sooo, to follow up on the story in my initial post, I just picked up my Model 3 today. Took a little longer than I expected to get the part, but otherwise everything was fixed and is now good to go. Only hiccup in the process was that they couldn’t give me a loaner since it was the Delivery team...

Yes!!! Enhanced summon is on its way.....

That all seems overwhelming only because you're a human. :) There is a sh*tton of other stuff going on, not just in Teslas but in most modern cars. What HW3 will do, at least per my limited understanding, is enable the car to essentially learn and improved based on its own experience and the...

    Model X Facelift Imminent?

That said if I were still in the market now in mid-March, I’d definitely wait. I’m guessing the interior refresh will be significant.

Did the lack of Falcon Wing Doors dealbreaker for you?

The FWD and absurdly large windshield are two of the reasons we love our X. Lol. It’s just such a unique car.

Model Y unveiling event 2019-03-14 (official thread)

Love Tesla design generally, but I’m not a fan of the Y. It really does look like a 3 just photoshopped to be bigger. It just looks like lazy design, frankly. The X also looks like it’s derived from the S, but it retains some very unique design lines. The Y literally just looks like a 3 in need...

Feedback from BMW or other premium brand converts?

Wholeheartedly agree. Tesla makes changes incredibly quickly. Go with as new of a car as you possibly can.

Why FSD will never fully work on current cars

I love Tesla cars and have two. But, the company clearly engages in tactics that maybe other more established companies wouldn't. I ALWAYS saw the FSD option as vaporware and can't actually believe anyone would buy it. The technology isn't the issue, it's the regulation. There is no way we'll...

Tesla Is Looking Into Ways to Lighten the Model 3

I don’t think he posed the right question. Let’s change the scenario to two 2019 Civics, both with the same safety features. Only difference is one just somehow has an extra 700 pounds of weight added. Now which one would you’d rather be in?
  29. B

Can service center see your text message?

Yes. Their text messaging system is fantastic, but I guess it depends on the service center. Sounds like yours just isn’t that great.

    Model 3 Software Update 2019.5.x

Me too. I got two app alerts today informing that my 3 was completely charged. Looks like the second one was because SOC dropped 1%. This never used to happen.

    Good luck with that.

3% Price increase across the board

That was my first thought (about the leases) too. There's no way they could've just decided to pack up and leave without paying a significant lease break fee. So to me, there's no way they could've not known that. This almost seems like a calculated move on some level. Or so I hope. (But...

This must be said - GREAT experience with Tesla

That’s because it’s a half baked idea. Nice car, subpar range and charging speeds, not much charging infrastructure. Not something the average person would spend money on.

Experience at the Dublin CA SC today

Yeah, this isn’t rocket science. Haha. They see the schedule and know the model and color of your car. Since very few people show up without an appointment, the chances that it isn’t you are slim.

Considering buying Tesla 3 Long Range

Might be able to drive one off the lot tomorrow depending on how many your local Tesla store still has.
  36. B

Considering buying Tesla 3 Long Range

Have an X and a 3. If you’re getting the Long Range, you’ll never have to worry about range. Check with an electrician to see what the cost is to install a 50 amp plug in your garage. It’ll make life with an electric car a breeze. These are fantastic cars. Be sure you can get comfortable with...

This must be said - GREAT experience with Tesla

Yeah, that's why I created this thread. As I said before, this is an American company doing some very bold things and innovating like crazy in ways that are, without being overly dramatic, good for humanity. I'm not in the camp that thinks Elon Musk is God or even a real life Tony Stark, but...

This must be said - GREAT experience with Tesla

I have two Teslas. You referenced the one car I got "3 months ago", which is our X. It's been in twice. Neither visit took more than a day.
  40. B

This must be said - GREAT experience with Tesla

Actually, just two service visits. Qualifies as "multiple" sure, but stating it in that way sounds like something a short seller would say. (Are you?) We've all known there can be build inconsistencies coming off the manufacturing line. Vast majority I've seen are easy fixes. And to be honest...

  43. B

This must be said - GREAT experience with Tesla

Lighten up. Maybe that’ll help you get better service. Seriously. Consider what the service folks have to deal with on a daily basis and how you might react yourself in such a situation. All that matters is that the issues were resolved and resolved expediently. Service Center visits never...

Who is Waiting to Buy Autopilot/FSD Until After the Model Y Announcement

I agree. I never even understood why anyone ever would’ve bought it. FSD is still a pipe dream at the moment. It can’t be done technologically and it definitely can’t be done in terms of regulations. Why would I fork money over for capabilities that don’t even exist.
  45. B

This must be said - GREAT experience with Tesla

Yes, I’m incredibly likable. I’m also unbelievably modest. :)

This must be said - GREAT experience with Tesla

With all the Debbie Downers and naysayers around here, I've got to share a series of good experiences in my little corner of the world. Flame me all you want, but Tesla has definitely taken good care of us. We got an X in December 2018. Had a couple of trim misalignment issues and some other...

    Newbie confusion

February 2019 delivery here. Some minor issues, but nothing that wasn't fixed at a service visit (took only one day). The car has been utterly fantastic and I love every minute of driving it.
  48. B

    Should We Be Concerned?

The problem is the vast majority of people don’t do this. I’m as tech savvy and online-adapted as any one on Earth and even I felt more comfortable going to the store, poking around and test driving the car. If I never had a chance to test drive the car, there is NO a chance I would’ve bought...

With brick & mortar locations closing who will be delivering Tesla vehicles?

They never said they're going to service ALL the cars with rangers. They just said they'll bolster their mobile service staff so that repairs can be done within a day or even within an hour. It'll be a combination of both service centers and rangers. If you've tried to schedule an appointment...

    The GREAT Gamble: Online Sales

Yeah, everything was done online already. I think this is just another way of saying that they're cutting locations and staff to a large degree. I don't think things change all that much at the locations where they're maintaining a showroom. We've bought two Teslas now and both times we spoke at...
