FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

I had to disable auto speed because it sometimes would go like 12 mph over the speed limit on 40-45 mph roads with few cars around and I was afraid I would get a ticket. I usually don’t like to go more than 7-8 mph over to avoid tickets. I wish we could use fixed offset like with standard...

    My 2023 Model 3 got totaled :(

I’m curious as well. My 2023 RWD purchased in December 2022 was $43.2k base + $6k EAP + $4.5k taxes / fees + $2k upgrade to FSD = $55.7k all in, and I still owe $36.8k. After 17 months of use, I would be pretty disappointed if it got totaled and I got less than $40k. I do have GAP coverage, so...

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

It’s not just the slow stop sign routine for me. I disengage a lot because it waits too late to stop and then has to use brakes. I prefer a super smooth and efficient stop with regen only. Seems like calculating a perfectly timed regen only stop is something a computer would excel at, but...

Range Loss Over Time, What Can Be Expected, Efficiency, How to Maintain Battery Health

Yeah, Sentry, cabin overheat protection, preconditioning, and natural battery losses from the car just sitting aren’t factored in to EPA numbers, so it can be hard to hit EPA range without disabling those features or doing all of the driving in one go or over a short span of time. My RWD has...

    Model 3 wheel cover purpose?

I think the effect of the covers is vastly overstated. I use Tessie to track all of my drives, and after a few months I removed the wheel covers and saw no difference, even on a very consistent 20 mile drive that I make weekly, which includes mostly constant driving on Autopilot at 50-60 mph...

FSD 12.3.3 first drive - safe, super boring

I did exactly that yesterday. Drove around 400 miles with my family and was planning to use FSD v12 the whole way to try it out, but after the first 20 miles, I switched back to trusty old EAP. Not as “smart”, but sometimes that’s a good thing. I will definitely give v12 a lot more testing when...

Don't get a ticket with Tesla Insurance

At least in Georgia, it seems like the police departments only care about getting their money. Last time I got a ticket, I just emailed the county prosecutor’s office or whatever was listed on the ticket and asked them nicely if they would agree to not add the points to my license if I agreed to...

Widget ? Model Y still not sleeping

My car woke when I went into the garage the other day without my phone. Caught me off guard. Sentry was not on. I believe Tesla has been tweaking how phone key works in recent updates. I think they are trying to prevent relay attacks, so the Tesla app recently started disabling phone key...

Interesting. Maybe I missed it before, but I can see alerts from the car’s service menu in Tessie now… a crap ton of them lol. I’m getting DI_a024_holdNForNeutral, APP_w304_lssCamBlockedStatus, and APP_w269_autopilotLimited every time the car wakes up it looks like, often twice per wake, so 6...

Squeaky / Creaky Noise from Rear Seats (especially when going over bumps)?

I had this, but when I uninstalled my child’s car seat, it went away. I haven’t reinstalled the car seat yet, but I was thinking maybe I had tightened it down too much. I had both the latches and tether connected.

Praise direct telemetry! The energy used and efficiency shown by Tessie match what the car shows much better now! Went on three drives today totaling about 40 miles, and both the car and Tessie showed exactly 200 Wh/mi!

Range Loss Over Time, What Can Be Expected, Efficiency, How to Maintain Battery Health

But the question remains… what the hell is this update changing? Lots of news articles saying Tesla displayed range now accounts for battery age, but it already did. Hasn’t it always?
  13. G

Range Loss Over Time, What Can Be Expected, Efficiency, How to Maintain Battery Health

I wonder if Tesla is going to factor in a baseline calendar aging rate for all cars, which it seems like they may already do for cars with LFP batteries. The displayed range in Teslas with LFP batteries ticks down with alarming consistency over time, so much so that you can guess the age of them...

Georgia highland model 3 order -- out the door extra fees

You forgot the $250 order fee, there was no doc fee for me, and tax was only 6.6% for me (you want to look up TATV (Title Ad Valorem Tax) rate, which is a little different than regular sales tax). I got $43,568.54 after those changes.

    Ingenext Boost Modules [aftermarket]

@mahaney03 @Vaillant The Ingenext timer seemed ok compared to Dragy in my tests. It gave results 0.1-0.2 seconds higher than Dragy. Not sure if that's due to my tires being over Tesla recommended spec by 2 PSI, or because Ingenext starts the timer as soon as the pedal moves whereas the Dragy...

    First road trip coming up

I use ABRP to plan stops before long trips. I like being able to tweak all of the parameters to minimize trip time, and I also like being able to set my desired % on arrival. The fastest trip is usually obtained by driving fast (I go 8-10 above the speed limit, so 78-80 mph on the east coast)...

While we're discussing degradation and the chart shown by Tessie, I would like to take the opportunity to request a time-based degradation chart. Yeah, you would have to let users manually enter their car's manufacture date, or Tessie could probably get away with just using the connection date...

Any chance we could have a way to manually set average temperature for a drive? This Tesla bug where the temp sensor doesn’t update for the first 15 minutes of a drive if you precondition and leave your warmer garage when it’s cold is messing up my Tessie temperature stats.

Teslas crash more than gas-powered cars. Here’s why

From further down in the article: I have yet to see proof that Teslas crash more than other vehicles, and after the LendingTree study fiasco, I'm having trouble trusting any news article that makes that claim. The LendingTree study initially prompted countless articles implying that Teslas...

    Thermometer slow to adjust?

How is this still not fixed in 2024? Still happen on my 2023 Model 3 on the latest firmware. Doesn’t really affect me negatively apart from screwing up my statistics tracking, because my statistics will say a drive was 45 average when it was really 30 outside and 60 in my garage.

    Phantom Braking misunderstanding

My definition of phantom braking based on comments and videos I see: 1) Braking by an autonomous system due to a condition or event that was not perceived by the driver of the vehicle, usually because they were not paying attention to their surroundings. My ideal definition: 2) Braking by an...

Looks like my heat pump finally failed like many others: VCFRONT_a531 error

Seems like majority of search results are from Jan 2022 to Feb 2023, with less results in 2023, so I wonder if this is an issue that mostly affects 2021-2022 models and it's fixed on newer cars.

    Single Tap is Great!

    Cybertruck will be 800V

Who the hell is gtx? I went back through the thread and saw no one by that name. Sure you can calculate c-rate with percent... if the battery charges to 100% in 1 hour, that's a c-rate of 1C, 100% in 30 minutes is 2C, 50% in 15 minutes is also 2C. You're wrong about c-rate not telling you...
  29. G

    Cybertruck will be 800V

Same result in terms of c-rate since I used percentage of usable range to get kWh added in 15 minutes... (123 kWh * .955 * (136/340) * (60/15)) / 123 kWh = 1.5C still I just hope the CT can charge faster on V4 like what's his face said. I will take back everything bad I ever said about 4680...
  30. G

    Cybertruck will be 800V

C-rate already takes into account the size of the battery. If you charge a 50 kWh battery at a 2C c-rate, that means you're charging at 100kW. To charge a 100 kWh battery at the same c-rate, it needs to charge at 200 kW. 15 minute average charging c-rates = (kWh added in 15 minutes * (60/15)) /...

Watt hours per mile to attain projected range

No, it includes all consumption while driving, including HVAC, but it doesn’t include drain while you’re in park. So if you do it all in one drive, or at least within a day or two and don’t have Sentry or cabin overheat protection on, you’ll make the range if you hit the magic number.
  32. G

    Cybertruck will be 800V

No assumptions needed. Tesla’s website says 15 minutes of charging adds up to 128 or 136 miles (out of 320 or 340 total rated miles for Cyberbeast or AWD). Presumably these are with V3 superchargers. 15-85% in 18-20 minutes on V4 would be excellent, but those numbers aren’t officially posted to...
  33. G

    Cybertruck will be 800V

Also, keep in mind that my list is showing EPA rated miles added in 15 minutes, which are only achievable at lower speeds. At highway speeds, less efficient vehicles take a much bigger hit than more efficient vehicles, and Cybertruck is going to be the least efficient Tesla, so I’m scared to...
  34. G

    Cybertruck will be 800V

You can. c-rate… look it up. If you use the same cells in two batteries, it doesn’t matter whether it’s 50 kWh or 100 kWh… they will add the same percentage per charge time assuming the charger can provide the requested power. Your time to charge is limited by how long it takes to charge each...

    Cybertruck will be 800V

Y’all… 136 miles out of 340 is 40%. Adding 40% in 15 minutes is not indicative of a great charging curve or c-rate. Pretty much every other battery type Tesla offers adds 50% in 15 minutes. Heck, even my Model 3 RWD standard range adds 50% or 136 miles in 15 minutes, and it’s one of the slowest...

Thanks for the lifetime discount. Took the plunge after paying for the first year and comparing to another service. What happened? Odd charging behavior at 100%.

I’ve owned a 2023 Model 3 RWD with the LFP battery for about a year now, and charge it to 100% every couple weeks, but experienced some weird behavior I had never seen before the other day, and I’m wondering if anyone knows what was going on. Supercharger "available stalls" count gone from map in software 2023.38.6?

Maybe with their new predictive availability, they want to get away from showing hard numbers. It sounds like they are trying to predict availability based on both historical data and based on how many cars are currently in route to a Supercharger, so showing 4 available if they already know 4...

Personally, I have mine set up to charge back to 50% at night using the off-peak hours feature, even though I have a flat rate plan. 2023 Model 3 Performance in Gran Turismo 7

You can put a sort of exhaust on an EV: https://www.borla.com/products/ford-mustang-mach-e-active-performance-sound-system-253100 😆 Actually, it might solve ThaiBruin's complaint about having zero audible feedback.

Model 3 SR+ LFP Battery Range, Degradation, etc Discussion

Had a lot of driving to do yesterday, so I did a little test to see how much range I could get and how many kWh I could pull out of the battery. Unfortunately, it wasn't a perfect test, because it took about 14 hours from the time I unplugged, including 5 drives, 54 minutes of idling (car in...

That since charge metric only counts energy used while the car is in drive, not while it's in park, so if you want to use it to measure battery capacity, you optimally need to do it all in one drive.

    HV Battery Health Test Confusion

A few things: I think you have a Standard Range (not Plus), which has a 51.8? kWh battery (same as SR+ with 240 mile range from that time), but is software locked to 48.3? kWh (to limit the car to a 220 mile range). From what I've seen, the battery health test just tries to measure nominal full...
