Hyperdip / plasti dip on new car

Do you have pics of your wheels? I finally curbed my inductions after 6 months of ownership and I'm thinking of hyperdipping mine that color. I had already done my emblems in Piano Black Hyperdip

    New Mexico sales tax question

Ah ok sounds like the tribal land places its own taxes on the car purchase but NM should recognize that and your friend should only pay the difference between what he paid and the 4% MVET

Tesla Friendly Car Wash NYC Area

It's just a car. Two bucket method works well and prevents damage. If you don't want to invest in a kit with pressure washer then consider using ONR or McKee's 37 N-914 and you'll be able to keep your car clean with minimal effort

    New Mexico sales tax question

Your friend should have already paid the MVET as there are no other sales taxes in NM for car purchases. Which taxes did you friend already pay according to Tesla? https://www.tax.newmexico.gov/all-nm-taxes/2020/10/22/motor-vehicle-excise-tax/

What motor does your 2023 Model Y have?

You won't know what motor you have until you take a looksie yourself. No matrix headlights. Door panels are alcantara.
  13. M

What motor does your 2023 Model Y have?

3D1 is the old performance motor. The new performance motor is 4D1. As to the actual advantages of each for a customer? Who knows. Seems to me like Tesla software limits both motors either way and the advantage is for Tesla itself since 4D1 is a cheaper motor to produce due to less rare earth...

    Matrix Headlights on LR Y?

I thought people were unhappy with the Matrix beam pattern compared to regular headlights? Here in the good ol US of A our laws are archaic and there's no advantage to Matrix

    Super Charger only

I love my MYLR and have already put 8,184 miles in the first 4 months of ownership. Even took roadtrips just to spend time in the car. I wouldn't buy this car if I couldn't charge at home. It's too much of a hassle to rely on public charging. Perhaps Canada is better at this than the US. But man...

What motor does your 2023 Model Y have?

I guess so but wouldn't the performance parameters be updated on the website? My guess is this is a cheaper motor to manufacturer due to less rare earth metals and the hair pins while providing similar performance. Probably use software to match them to each other to minimize differences as the...

What motor does your 2023 Model Y have?

Correct me if in wrong but isn't the 4D1 the updated 3D1? Meaning they're both performance motors and likely to perform the same?

Homelink Not Available for 2023 Model Y?

I purchased my homelink module brand new for my 2023 MYLR built in Austin on 12/22 a couple months ago from ebay. It came with the mounting bracket. I installed it myself and saved money over paying Tesla. Was fairly straightforward. I'm glad I have it as I use it to open the gates for my gated...

MyLR stock tires for Virginia region

It should come with the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymetric AS tires. They have seemed fine in the rain here in South FL for me. I do plan on getting Vredestein Quatrac Pros to replace them when its time. So far 8000 miles in I'm at 8/32 on every tire

New Model Y - Missing Bolts or Rivets?

My 2023 Model Y LR built in Austin had the wiper arm nut covers missing. Took two trips by mobile techs to come out since the first tech only brought 1 cap. This pic shows 1 installed 1 missing
  24. M

    Quick question....

Car is structurally stronger and supposed to be lighter but so far 4680 MY AWD has less range than LR and they weigh practically the same. I don't think the 4680 battery offers an advantage over 2170 battery but I'm sure it will in time
  25. M

    Quick question....

LR and P are 2170s and AWD with 279 miles is Austin built 4680 MY AWD. It's not LFP chemistry. They're all NCA. IMO range is king so I'd spend the extra for a MYLR. At highway speeds I'm getting closer to 330 Wh/mi so that's around 220-230 miles on my 2023 MYLR and that's in FL so no cold weather

    Painted Emblems?

I wasn't even able to mask my car because I ceramic coated it and I couldn't get the tape to stick. It's fine. Once it dries everything comes off and whatever is left easily comes off with a microfiber towel and detailing spray for lubrication. This video will show you the process. It's pretty...

    Painted Emblems?

Having used both Plastidip and Hyperdip I would recommend the Hyperdip from DYC as it's easier to work with and lays down smoother. It looks like it came that way from factory. I did mine in Piano Black and been super happy. They also sell a spudger tool that is handy although not needed

    FPL Advertisement about EV charging

The charger is connected to WiFi. FPL has all the data they want and more. I'm sure they'll enforce the 1 EV rule when the program grows more. If it hadn't been for that 10 year term I would've signed up for the program
  32. M

    FPL Advertisement about EV charging

I don't think they care about accuracy. They have excess power at night that's going to waste and now they charge people $38 a month which is enough to cover 1400+ miles of driving a month. Plus if you charge On Peak they charge you more. It's a win-win for them. This also comes with a 10 year...

    FPL Advertisement about EV charging

This is only for Florida. The charger is always connected to WiFi. They know when and how much you charge. Based on the off peak / on peak of the TOU rates that determines if you pay extra or not. Off peak = unlimited free charging On peak = $0.24 per kW on top of your $31 / $38 a month fee

Florida FPL Time of Use Rate

Yeah it all depends on how much you drive. If you have 2 EV then it's a no brainer. For my use case I'd have to drive 1500 miles a month and keep the FPL Evolution program going for 2 years to break even if I were to move. I don't know where I'll be by then so I didn't want to commit to such a...

Florida FPL Time of Use Rate

You're confusing and combining different programs. You cannot be on the TOU electric rate plan if you sign up for the FPL Evolution at home program. FPL Evolution is a flat fee of $31 or $38 a month as long as you charge the car during off peak periods. Because the charger is monitored...

Will ceramic coating impair adhesion of badges / spoiler?

I ceramic coated my car and wanted to Hyperdip my badges and I couldn't even get FrogTape to stick to my car so I could cover areas I didn't want the dip to end up. Ended up having to dip without any taping. It wasn't as messy as I thought but still messier than being able to make things out. So...

    FPL Advertisement about EV charging

Model Y Review by a Hater

Well I can tell you I don't experience any bouncing as described. Have yet to spill my coffee. It feels similar to my Lexus IS 250 F Sport suspension. The Lexus was still cushier but I don't mind the Model Y

Installing Wall Charger vs Mobile Connector

The car has a weak WiFi antenna. My outdoor cameras were all good to go on my 2.4 GHz network for my Unifi Dream Router but the car wouldn't stay connected. I added a Unifi U6 Extender in a mesh configuration in my kitchen and now the car gets around 3 bars signal while everything else even...

Model Y Review by a Hater

I have a 23 MYLR on 20 inch inductions and I think my suspension is fine. It's not harsh. And it definitely isn't floaty. I haven't found a single instance of that even going over train tracks at 50mph

I have a Unifi U6 extender in my kitchen that extends WiFi to my Tesla and the Tesla Wall Connector. It's set up as a wireless mesh and there's zero issues with the car or the wall connector

    Austin Build 2023 Quality Tracker

Really? You think taking delivery of a car with a glass chip on the Backlite glass (rear windshield) is normal? No way. My paint also wasn't perfect and my gaps weren't perfect but good enough. I agree people do spend too much time trying to find defects but there are legitimate quality concerns...

Model Y Review by a Hater

I have the 20 inch inductions and I like the suspension. It's a little stiffer than my 2015 Lexus IS250 F Sport but the 23 MYLR is by far the more comfortable car. Especially when getting in and out and going on road trips.
