    Failure to drive off lot

I just bought a Sienna. The sienna solves more problems and was the car i originally wanted to get (640m range on a full tank, 35mpg, and can haul all the camping gear). The model Y is attractive for other reasons (electric, self driving) but has its problems (service, road trip range). If...

    Failure to drive off lot

wow. with this price drop, i guess what seemed like a curse on new years eve is now a blessing.

    Failure to drive off lot

I think the rain was a big factor in it. It was pouring that day -- parts of the bay area had 10 inches of rain, which made it a record rainfall ever kind of day. The service guy probably didnt want to try to move a immobile car into service in those conditions. That, and i dont think it was...

    Failure to drive off lot

I only viewed the article after I passed since I was wondering if this was a common problem. It seems like Tesla doesn’t really get ranked highly in many publications (I disagree with the publications in general - seems like the cars are generally good but then people have issues with service...

Interesting, what kind of problems have you had? Just trying to live vicariously through your experience.

    Failure to drive off lot

That would have been nice but the service guy was not helpful.

    Failure to drive off lot

The other considerations that I had at the time -- (1) Elon was trying to push as many cars out at year end as possible, so the standard of quality was likely going to be lower (2) It was the wettest day ever recorded in the bay area and I had a two hour drive each way to the tesla sales...

    Failure to drive off lot

I would have literally had to walk away given the condition of the car.

    Failure to drive off lot

Yeah, i was going to bring up Consumer Reports -- and I, like you, thought it only had to do with panel gaps and fits. Buying a new car that doesnt drive though isnt a shining beacon of reliability though, is it?

    Failure to drive off lot

https://www.motorbiscuit.com/consumer-reports-tesla-model-y-problems/ Don’t get me wrong. I don’t believe everything I read. My experience was poor though and frankly really disappointing. Ive personally heard mixed opinions about people’s teslas — I’ve also had a friend who died when their...

    Failure to drive off lot

Even if covered, I think the model Y has a reputation for being unreliable. My experience supports that reputation. Paying 70k for a car that won’t move seemed like a mistake.

    Failure to drive off lot

Maybe it would be just a module that needs replacement or maybe it would be something that was faulty not covered by the warranty. Who knows.

    Failure to drive off lot

I took delivery but the sales guy reversed it when the car wouldn’t move. I’m not sure if I missed the boat or not. While I’m sure the model Y can be a great car, I’m not sure that particular one is. Taking delivery of a car with unknown problems sounds like a recipe for a disaster.

    Failure to drive off lot

So…. I bought a model Y on December 30th and took delivery on the 31st…. But the car wouldn’t drive off the lot. Once I shifted the car into drive, I started getting warning messages like “electrical system does not support all accessories, system cannot restart, etc.”. Anyone else experience...
