    Buying a Used M3 - WWYD

Short update on the M3. The car arrived 3 weeks ago and there have been a few surprises. It needed more work than I anticipated and is still at the body shop. - The biggest problem with the car was the passenger seat and the carpet interior. At some point, something spilled that left a brown...

Ford Mustang Mach E Needs a Rethink

This was my first time going through that experience, it does disarm a person. My OP details the situation. You might want to read through the Mach E Forums, there's more than a few others who also fell for a dealer's pitch. You could drive a fleet of cars between what they say and the reality...

Ford Mustang Mach E Needs a Rethink

The Ford dealer I bought it from had me convinced the Select was the middle-tier. I was also told this was the most popular configuration in the US. First-time EV buyers with a short timeframe to purchase are at a disadvantage in a dealership. While this decision is ultimately on me, I can see...

    Buying a Used M3 - WWYD

We haven't actually tried to do the transfer yet. The concern is that Tesla requires proof of ownership, which I don't have (yet.)

    Buying a Used M3 - WWYD

We purchased a Model Y in January. She's sufficiently impressed with that car, this should be well received. It's been a while since I posted an update. So far, so good. My main gripe is how much time this is taking. The title arrived last week, the seller signed it over before a notary. He...

Ford Mustang Mach E Needs a Rethink

QFT. Have started to notice a pattern in MME reviews. Reviewers think features that detect driver's awareness are really, really important. More important than the range, the winter capacity drop off, the apps that ship with the car, the charging situation, etc. They can't stress how important...

Tesla's Dashcam let me down when I needed it the most

If you were rear ended, doesn't that automatically make the accident the other driver's fault? Thought that was the way it worked, but could be mistaken. Either way, the video might not be as important as you think.

    Buying a Used M3 - WWYD

To close this out - ended up buying the car. WRT the finances, we signed an agreement this morning. I'm sending him payment for the balance of his loan, he will send me the title and the release of lien once he receives them. We both spoke to his bank, it's not possible for them to send these...

    Buying a Used M3 - WWYD

Appreciate the response. TN-18-16-001 is very informative. The nearest Tesla service center to the car is a few hours drive. I think our plan is get a body shop to look it over and let me know if there are any issues.

    Buying a Used M3 - WWYD

Everyone's concern is appreciated. Not a scam, seller is trustworthy. Probably should not have mentioned the price. Main concern is the car might have been treated a little ruggedly, seems like off roading is one of the seller's hobbies. The offer came out of the blue, just trying to figure...

    Buying a Used M3 - WWYD

Yeah, he owes a little under $10k. The deal is I would pay that off and keep the car. While I don't have a specific concern about liens, I want to make sure there's nothing that would prevent me from getting the title. Just trying to understand what I'm getting into. No plans to repaint it...

    Buying a Used M3 - WWYD

Could use some advice on purchasing a used Model 3. I'm looking at a 2021 with low mileage. The seller is a friend of a friend, he's preparing to deploy overseas and wants to get rid of it. He's offering to sell it to me for the remainder of the note, which is far below market price. From...

Ford Mustang Mach E Needs a Rethink

OP here. Wanted to point out one other bright spot to owning an MME. When we bought our MME, we paid for a service plan. The dealership said the pro-rated part was refundable if we sold the car. The dealer refuses to recognize we sold the car. We've supplied a release of lien letter, some...

Ford Mustang Mach E Needs a Rethink

Ford put out a press release the day they announced their earnings. Interesting reading, worthy amount of doublespeak. This part in particular stood out: They make a car that loses 30% of battery capacity in the cold. They tout their success as declared by industry publications. That last one...

Ford slashes Mach-E prices by up to $5,900... offers refunds to customers that paid higher price

Maybe a better way to talk about this: in the age of custom-ordered EVs, what is a dealership? Ford allows people to order MMEs online. Dealerships get the cars people don't take delivery on. If all a dealership does is resell the custom jobs passed on by other buyers, what point does it serve...

Ford slashes Mach-E prices by up to $5,900... offers refunds to customers that paid higher price

My guess is any refund would be in the form of FordPass Rewards points, which are good towards the cost of service. While I don't have any firsthand experience with this, my understanding is service is expensive.

Ford slashes Mach-E prices by up to $5,900... offers refunds to customers that paid higher price

BlueCruise - Ford's version of Autopilot - was promised for every MME. Unfortunately, the 2022 Selects were incapable of it because they lacked a front facing camera. BlueCruise is not Autopilot, it's a very different beast. Ford maintains their own maps for the system, it's not nationwide...

Ford slashes Mach-E prices by up to $5,900... offers refunds to customers that paid higher price

Yeah, and to be clear, it's not like I hated the MME. Tolerable is more the way I'd put it. With the right planning and some patience, you can make almost any trip work. It's just that, for the price, this is a lot to tolerate.

Ford slashes Mach-E prices by up to $5,900... offers refunds to customers that paid higher price

220 miles on 100% charge. Note: range does not translate into distance travelled. On 220 miles of range, I would get about 190 miles of distance in Fall with climate controls on.

    Y Questions

Recently purchased a MYLR. Confused about a few things, wondering if anyone has any answers. 1) Using PAAK, the passenger side doors don't unlock when I approach the car. Is there a setting to allow that to happen? It's a little inconvenient having to hold the button on the driver's door. 2)...

Ford slashes Mach-E prices by up to $5,900... offers refunds to customers that paid higher price

Another factor that may be playing out: people trading in their MMEs. The Select trim doesn't have an extended range option. This is a serious drawback, it means you are very limited in where you can go without having to charge. During Winter, I lost at least 30% range as indicated on the...

Ford Mustang Mach E Needs a Rethink

Struggling to find a point in your post, ucmndd. First you said Tesla range estimates are as far fetched as those of the MME, now you're accusing me of being misleading. My observations are based solely on driving each vehicle. In Winter, the MME Select with a Standard Battery charges to about...

Ford slashes Mach-E prices by up to $5,900... offers refunds to customers that paid higher price

Uh... did anyone notice what actually changed? The MME Select has been cut to the mid-$40s. That vehicle does not have an extended range battery, it gets about 220 miles of range on a full charge. The MME Premium has been cut to the low-$50s. That vehicle does not come with an extended range...

Ford Mustang Mach E Needs a Rethink

Oh, you. I've been driving an EV for more than 6 months. I know already range does not precisely translate into miles. I've also been driving my MYLR for about a week. There is a huge difference in range discrepancy, Tesla wins hands down.

Interesting insights, @ThePirate. I, too, recently purchased a new MYLR. Received it last Saturday and am still getting to know it. Hope you resolve your issues as you get to know your car. Are you using your phone as a key? Why are you charging with EvGo? Are you not near a supercharger...

Not a so thriving future for Polestar?

I guess I'm not surprised to learn the net profit is so low. Polestar, Rivian, Fisker, etc - seem to emphasize design over functionality as companies. They want you buying for how others perceive the car instead of for what it can do. This likely cuts out some potential customers, especially...

Not a so thriving future for Polestar?

He makes good points about the charging network and the technology. 3.9% profit is well below other EV makers. I didn't understand his point about financing. Does Polestar finance buyers themselves?

    Retrofit for Steam

Yesterday, I spent 2 hours sitting in my MYLR right in front of my house. Took calls, screwed with features, researched aftermarket parts, played Sudoku, etc. Getting past the fascination with this new car is taking some time.

Ford Mustang Mach E Needs a Rethink

Not really a car guy, but I appreciate that comment. We probably should have spent more time educating ourselves on the specific features of each vehicle. Our impressions were based more on the experience of driving each one, along with some other factors. We did take the time to categorize...

Ford Mustang Mach E Needs a Rethink

Right, hence the use of the word 'mistake' in my original post. I probably should have been more educated walking into the dealer. Definitely let my enthusiasm get the best of me. After 6 months of ownership, I can definitely say the highest charge rate I got was maybe 62kw. The closest...

Is now REALLY a good time to buy a new Tesla? [Jan 2023 / April 2023]

Like I said, there's recent market data available on iSeeCars.com. I've provided a link for you to see for yourself. Autotrader doesn't offer the same, but I don't find too many outliers. How about taking a look at those before insisting I'm wrong? Sure, I see why one might assume such things...

Discussion: Model 3 and Y price drop Jan 2023 / April 2023 / Oct 2023 and All other Pricing Speculation going forward

As delightful as it is to look at a screen saying Tesla owes me $35k, I know this is a fault in their accounting system. But I'm supposed to take delivery tomorrow. What should someone actually do in this situation? I'm happy to give them the downpayment, the issue is they won't let me.

Discussion: Model 3 and Y price drop Jan 2023 / April 2023 / Oct 2023 and All other Pricing Speculation going forward

For those who thought they were getting a great deal with the recent discount and tax credit, no, you merely received a good one. I have received the greatest deal Tesla has ever offered - $35,000 cash for purchasing a Model Y. Receipts included. Last Friday, I ordered a MYLR from inventory...

Ford Mustang Mach E Needs a Rethink

Clever name there Gauss Guszzler! No, I've never owned a Tesla. Supposed to take delivery of a MYLR tomorrow. To understand my perspective, this was my first new car purchase. Every other car I've owned was bought from a mechanic and the most I'd ever paid was $12k. Before this, I was driving...

Is now REALLY a good time to buy a new Tesla? [Jan 2023 / April 2023]

You must really love Carmax. Good for you! Your analysis ignores a few items that are important to consider. - The top line cost of a Model 3 is $43k. Not everyone can float that for a year waiting for a tax credit. - The average rate for financing right now is 10%. Not everyone can afford to...

Ford Mustang Mach E Needs a Rethink

Purchased a Ford Mustang Mach E in June 2022. 6 months later, trading it in for a MYLR. Looking back, this car needs to be rethought. Ford's custom configuration / dealer purchasing model creates huge disadvantages for buyers, the features / pricing isn't well thought out, the charging...

    Going from a GV80 Genesis......

I am moving from a Ford Mustang Mach E to a Model Y. Don't know if that qualifies as luxury, but I did notice some differences during the test drive. - The Model Y is stiffer on turns. Could be that it was 'new' and needed to be broke in. - The Model Y doesn't sit as high as the MME. I'm...

Is now REALLY a good time to buy a new Tesla? [Jan 2023 / April 2023]

OP - the offer you received is too low compared to national averages. Either this is an extreme outlier or something is wrong with the car. Any offer you receive from the places you cited is based on national used car price averages. Before buying a Tesla, I tracked prices on all models for...

    Elon & Twitter

CEOs have a fiduciary responsibility to shareholders. They can be sued, and in some cases charged criminally, if their actions have an adverse impact on stock price. If his actions at Twitter have an adverse impact at Tesla, that's a conflict of interest. At a minimum, the board has a fiduciary...

After what time has passed would you consider an FSD class action lawsuit?

Here's what bejiggers me about FSD. My cousin in San Diego uses it every day without issue. Makes turns, changes lanes, comes to him at the parking lot, etc. He now calls his car Kitt. My friend in Richmond has a hard time with it. Some of the roads he drives regularly have no acceleration...

Model Y Not Worth the Price Now [Nov 2022]

Ford MME owner here. Have had it for 6 months, price is important but the reliability of features might matter more. Range and charger availability are top line concerns, mine has a standard range battery and it gets about 220 miles in the summer and ~160 in the winter. Going from 20% charge to...

If the Model Y was considered an SUV, would Tesla have dropped the price so much?

Agree the MY would not have been cut so much but for the tax credits. But another motivation might have been to shaft Ford. Ford had a lot to do with the tax credit scheme, my understanding is their lobbyists wrote most of it. The SUV designation has a weight limit, the MY didn't qualify...

Upset that Tesla screwed customers who took delivery in the last few months

Inflation between 2016 and now averaged 2.78%. Something that costs $55k today would have cost $46k then. 8% covers the difference on Tesla in roughly 3 years. That's not a long timeframe for owning car.
