What features do you wish the Model Y came with (Dec 2022/Jan 2023) Wishlist

A properly working autowiper would be a nice change. Everyone else in the industry does it right but somehow the senior folks at Tesla could't figure it out to save their lives.

Sometimes it’s possessed! [auto wipers without rain / side camera blocked message]

Because Elon thinks humans can't look what's right in front of them on cruise mode? SMH

Sometimes it’s possessed! [auto wipers without rain / side camera blocked message]

I bought a used 21 LRMY and apparently the auto wiper issue has started getting progressively worse. What I have noticed is dust through condensation and streaks have built up between the back of my windshield and the camera housing. Does anyone have a service manual on how to remove the...

Toyota Mechanic Reviews the Model Y

Yes, but I tried "Set Cruise to 75" or "Navigate to Costco in Redwood City" and neither of them worked. The commands always wound up being botched with something else. It's great when voice works in complete silence but that's not always the case in a car ...

Toyota Mechanic Reviews the Model Y

I have a 21 MY and I have to say the interior does feel "cheap" for what they are charging. Now if the vehicle is priced at 30K yes it's appropriate. I do have a hard time with the lack of very simple, hard buttons for critical functions like HVAC + wipers and a real door handle. Yes I know I...

Toyota Mechanic Reviews the Model Y

It's going to sit on the lot. For a long .... time. :D For loyal Toyota owners if they shell out more than 50K their eyes are on the next door Lexus dealer.

2023 Model Y Long Range Disappointment in boominess after Demo Drive

Just adding to my previous reply the RWD would be a waste of time as it isn't an apple to apple comparison with the MY. You will need the AWD version for a fair assessment. Also drive the EV6 and Mach E if you have a chance as both are also very comparable to the Y. I often attribute the...

2023 Model Y Long Range Disappointment in boominess after Demo Drive

In response to OP ... you should try the other comparable EVs out there to see if you don't experience the resonance problem. i.e. Ioniq 5, EV6, and Mach E. As for almost all EVs you will get that sudden jolt because of the torque of the motors. That's how electric motors behave. Wrt...

BTW thanks for the quick replies so far. You all are awesome :)

Tires not inflating - searched the forum earlier

They were underinflated so I wanted to top off. It's an air compressor at a gas station. Wrt your question on fix a flat, that I don't know. I bought the car used recently.

Tires not inflating - searched the forum earlier

Yup, didn't have any issues. The front tires actually inflated just fine.

Tires not inflating - searched the forum earlier

Hi all, I tried searching the forum earlier and obviously couldn't find an answer. Basically on my MY the rear tires just do not inflate. I tried moving the car a bit so the stems are at the top position but every time I pressed the inflator against it all I can feel was air coming out but...

2023 Model Y Unacceptable Build Quality and Issues

Well their specs leave a lot to be desired then .... On a car with frameless doors the windows have to push against the seals. It's pretty much common sense so to me that's corporate speak. When a customer comes back for a manufacturing defect just say within spec. Next thing they will tell...

Should EVs Make Artificial Sounds at Low Speeds?

I know this is an old thread but the RZ450 isn't out yet. I'm assuming you are referring to the RX450 hybrid. All Toyota hybrids AFAIK make that artificial whine when it's using its electric motor for safety purpose - to let pedestrians know a car is nearby. I've owned a couple (non plugin...

Ford slashes Mach-E prices by up to $5,900... offers refunds to customers that paid higher price

I've just noticed that the range is stated as 269. If you custom order a new one with 20 in wheels the range drops to 318. Does this mean a smaller battery or a software change to lower the range? If so it isn't really a real discount.

Ford slashes Mach-E prices by up to $5,900... offers refunds to customers that paid higher price

Can we downgrade to the 19 in standard wheels and save another 2500? :D

Ford slashes Mach-E prices by up to $5,900... offers refunds to customers that paid higher price

I was referring to regular ICE F150s - its the volume driver for Ford. The 5% comment was for the current, updated Mach E prices.

Ford slashes Mach-E prices by up to $5,900... offers refunds to customers that paid higher price

I believe Ford's CEO has said he would honor price differences for those who ordered since 1/1/23. At least he's making some of them whole. Having said that though, the prices still aren't competitive to MY's current pricing. I mean, if Ford really wants to make a dent F150s are literally...

    White/White Model Y Waiting Room

This is the sad part. There was literally a recent news where 6 or 7 cars if I recall had their windows smashed in on Union St in Cow Hollow in San Francisco. Move along.

Horrible and sad model Y delivery experience

5 mm seems wide. I recall Lexus having a 3 mm or less panel gap back in the late 90s to early 2000s but here's a thread where GM vehicles back in mid 2000s had a gap tolerance of 3.5 mm FWIW. I'm not comparing Teslas to Lexus in terms of build quality, but one would think it would at least...

2023 Model Y Unacceptable Build Quality and Issues

Sorry to hear that. Were you able to get a loaner from Hyundai? This sounds pretty disappointing from them.

How different is the new Comfort Suspension (October 22 -) to the previous gen (prior to Oct 22 change)?

Great thread. Keeping tabs on this as my newly acquired used MY21LR rides like a rice rocket compared to my Macan S. I am hoping we can file a service request to swap the suspension parts (crossing fingers)

Model Y LG lots of quality issues. Anyway to exchange it?

If it's a buzz then that's normal since that's the motor moving the steering wheel assembly. If it squeaks you may have other parts either not lubricated well, or worse rubbing against each other.

Model Y LG lots of quality issues. Anyway to exchange it?

You shouldn't be OK on any priced car. What op posted look more like used car wear and tear items.

2023 Model Y Unacceptable Build Quality and Issues

That looks awful. I bought a used MY21 recently and it was in better shape. You shouldn't have taken delivery of the vehicle, but yes service should take care of those under warranty.

Model y - Would you replace roof top glass?

You should. It will bother you forever and if they are doing it under warranty they will still cover it for the remaining duration.

Is the color mismatch still an issue with white model Y?

For metallic colors, and the Tesla white is metallic, the bumper variation tend to stand out. This isn't a Tesla issue but is often seen in all cars. We've had a silver Toyota Prius for years and the discoloration between the bumper and the body gets more pronounced as it ages. One is...

Ford Mustang Mach E Needs a Rethink

Nice write up OP. I was in the market for a Mach E in late 2022 but the lack of inventory, above MSRP quotes from dealers except for one in my area who only had GTs on the lot, and the fact Tesla literally made the current Model Y price similar to early 2021 for LR made my decision a ton...
