Model Y climate battery usage unusually high (50% battery while driving)

So an update on my Y. On Friday afternoon I took the car in for my service appt. They were able to successfully fix my rattle (though they did charge me $102 for the rattle fix despite quoting me $0 beforehand which is its own story). Initially the service advisor said they "remotely" accessed...

Model Y climate battery usage unusually high (50% battery while driving)

I upgraded to 2023.20.9 last week. I normally update the Y within a couple days of when Ota updates are released since luckily my home wifi reaches my home garage. I also wonder if Tesla aggressively increased the battery cooling parameters recently which spiked the "climate" usage in phx...

Model Y climate battery usage unusually high (50% battery while driving)

Thank you for data logging in the name of science! And wow, congrats to your elite performance AC/Heatpump climate systems. Only 2.1% of your total 22.1% consumed during your two drives totaling 60mi was used by your climate. I'm sure your sunshade helps your ac efficiency but not by 900% I'd...

Model Y climate battery usage unusually high (50% battery while driving)

My first car I bought was a black car and this was in phx. Looked beautiful when it was clean but was noticeably hotter in the sun. I do like a sunroof, though a built in roof shade would be very appreciated. I have friends that hate sunroofs and an solar panel on the roof would be great in...

Model Y climate battery usage unusually high (50% battery while driving)

Wow, long day at the office! Today is a scorcher, 118 high so it'll be a true stress test of our car's ac. My appointment at Tesla service is this Fri so hopefully they fix my annoying interior rattle and run some climate system checks on my Y. I'm driving the 21 model S plaid today and will...

Model Y climate battery usage unusually high (50% battery while driving)

yep, I've got 70% ceramic infrared heat rejection film on the windshield which does help cut down on the heat coming through while still retaining night vision and not attracting any extra attention. According to youtube videos where they used an light/UV/Infrared light meter on the Y glass...

Model Y climate battery usage unusually high (50% battery while driving)

I usually leave COP off and just remotely turn on climate control 5min before getting in the car while the car is plugged in, in my garage. Normally COP and pre-conditioning energy usage is reflected in the "park" and not "drive" tab of the in car energy app, my park tab usually shows 3-5%...

Model Y climate battery usage unusually high (50% battery while driving)

Thank you for that data point, that's helpful. Oof, That's rough. Maybe an recent over the air update set the Y BMS to more frequently actively cool the Y batteries in over 100F temps or something. With the Y having (slightly) higher ground clearance so it's further away from as hot as 160F...

Model Y climate battery usage unusually high (50% battery while driving)

Maybe I should schedule my model S in for service for abnormally low climate usage then. Since my Y and S is driving in similar conditions but the Y is using 4X-5X more battery on climate per each car's energy app. I am curious what other Y owner's energy app are reporting their climate...

Model Y climate battery usage unusually high (50% battery while driving)

Hi, I know many parts of the US has been going through a heat wave this past few weeks. I live in the epicenter of the heatwave, here in Phoenix, AZ. I had my 23 Model Y long range awd for about 4 months now. Initially I was getting pretty good efficiency in the spring in my Y, about...

2023 M3 air conditioner using 70% of energy

From other forum posts, it sounds like the recent Tesla BMS logic is to use fans to cool the battery once it exceeds 45c/113F and gradually use the ac power of the heat pump to actively chill the battery starting around 50-55c/122F-131F to prevent the battery from topping 60c/140F temps. From...

2023 M3 air conditioner using 70% of energy

Chipping in with a data point. I've owned my 23 Model Y long range awd for about 4 months now and also live in hot Phoenix where we are now on our 21st day in a row of daily highs above 110 degrees. Initially I was getting pretty good efficiency in the spring in my Y, about 260-300whrs/mi...

Best place to by a Tesla - Audi dealership

My experience was at Courtesy Volvo. The M3P isn't showing on their website anymore, looks like they finally sold it or maybe sent it to auction.

Best place to by a Tesla - Audi dealership

It seems dealers with used Teslas may be throwing in the towel. One 2020 model 3 performance red/white with 45k miles and an entire car ppf was listed for sale for $52k at my local phx Volvo dealer last month around Dec 9. I test drove it but decided on an private party 19 LR awd with 18"...

Sold High Mileage Model 3 for sale at super low price of $24,990

OP, if you can find a used car dealer to act as an intermediary for a say $300-500 doc fee, the buyer could get the $4k used ev tax credit if they meet the $75k single/$150k married income limits. Since you're selling your Tesla for under $25k. The 30% used ev tax credit up to $4k should help...
