So I guess the answer is you need something to use to pry the tow hook cover off. It is difficult, if not impossible to remove the cover by hand...

Sorry to piggyback on the OP's post, but should it be possible to pop the tow hook cover without needing to use a pry tool? It could be that I'm pushing in the wrong spot, but I can't seem to pop the front tow hook cover by hand.

Just for a point of reference, I'm in So Cal. Picked up my MY on 2/11 and received my plates on 4/4. So, yes, the DMV can be a bit slow in delivering the plates.

Good luck! My experience at the Irvine SC was 100% positive. Well, maybe 99%... It looks like they drove my car through a muddy field from the back to the front of the facility... There was dried mud in the wheel wells. :)

I was told by the SA during pickup that if your second driver creates their own Tesla account, and you grant them access to the Tesla, they will have reduced access in the Tesla App. I did not try this myself, but may be an option.

Unless you're looking for a way to have the map show along with the rear view camera? The navigation and audible turn by turn directions will still play if you have the camera view up.

You can ask Tesla by texting the 510 number for the build date. :)

Send a text to the 510 number you received the message from. Tell them you prefer to pick up at the service center. They will make the switch for you. That's what I did.

I may be a freak in the ecosystem, but I received my VIN and delivery date on the same day. :)

My Austin build came with the cover. Picked it up yesterday.

I was originally scheduled for home delivery. I texted the 510 number and requested to have that changed to service center pickup. They made it happen for me.

I don't know if I would say it is frequent, but there are enough instances of the cars needing work right away that I want the ability to either have the service center document the issues up front, or reject the car outright if necessary. I'm ok dealing with minor issues after taking delivery...

So TESLA originally wanted to deliver the car on Thursday 2/9... After many texts with the 510 number to switch to pickup, so I can look at the car before I hand over my check, I will be picking up the car on Saturday 2/11. I'll let you all know what the car looks like after I get it.

So…. SA just told me the build date was 1/27. This is not a previously rejected vehicle. I’m trying to see if I get to inspect the vehicle with home delivery or if they literally just drop the car off in my driveway and leave.
