    proximity chime annoyance

I haven't turned off my chimes and I get a fair amount of false alarms. It is actually amusing sometimes. At certain curves I get a false warning that I'm running off the road just about every time I navigate them. In one specific place I drive, the evening sun causes the car to detect a...

Regenerative Braking, Vibration, and Cold Weather

The car was parked under our carport. Here in the mountains of NC wintertime low temps are not uncommon. Never heard of a tire freezing though they do ride a little rougher when temps are getting near zero. The temp was 11 degrees when I started out this morning and the vibration occurred once...

Regenerative Braking, Vibration, and Cold Weather

I bet that is exactly what happened. It felt like a brake shudder the more I think about it. I was not aware that the software added braking when regen is not fully working. The regen braking was not working as I had to ride the brakes down the steep hill this morning which I have not done...

Regenerative Braking, Vibration, and Cold Weather

Thanks for the reply. My tires are rotated every 5k. Pressures are good. This only happened one time. Flat spots on the tires would cause an ongoing issue.

Regenerative Braking, Vibration, and Cold Weather

It was about 14 degrees when I started out this morning. I drove about 100 yards down the road with nothing unusual but when I let off the accelerator to go down a steep hill it there was a vibration that almost felt like driving over a rumble strip. The regen braking was not working which I...

    Pricing Revealed

My 2016 Silverado has the backup camera mounted above the tailgate release handle. If the tailgate is down and the truck is in reverse, the driveway is the only view. Just the nature of the tailgate mounted camera... good view when the gate is up and obstructed when the gate is down.

    Visited Cybertruck in Charlotte NC

Visited the Cybertruck in Charlotte, NC Tesla Center. Truck looks great. It is still roped off and employees say they are not allowed to open the doors so we could get an inside view. Wish I could afford it!

    Pricing Revealed

Really disappointed. My plan was to sell my 2023 MY and my 2016 Silverado and purchase the Cybertruck. 4WD is a must but 80K plus tax is making a purchase out of reach. We can always dream that prices will drop and Federal tax incentives will increase but that seems pretty unrealistic.

    Steering Correction

I would like to think they are better than that but find they are very inaccurate when parking, to the point that I just ignore the warnings and drive like they didn't exist. On one curve when the sun is low the cameras detect a person standing in the road when no one is there.

    Starting Your Model Y

Sometimes it is difficult or inappropriate to use the same terms for ICE vehicles and EV's. As I read through the threads in this forum I run across posts where people talk about starting their car. It just seems a little strange to me since I don't really start my EV, I just put it in gear...

    Steering Correction

Ha Ha. That's interesting! In my case the car is in the center of the lane but thinks it isn't. I live in a mountain area with lots of curvy back roads. There are certain places that I regularly drive that will almost always engage the lane avoidance warning. I'm not sure if it is the white...

Model Y - vehicle 4 weeks old already 2 tire punctures - warranty coverage?

IMO the weight of the vehicle has very little to do with how many nails/screws our cars pick up. I have owned pickup trucks that weigh as much or more than our MY's for more that 40 years and find it's rare to pick up a nail. It seems it depends on where the vehicle is driven not the weight...

    Starting Your Model Y

Not meaning to get into semantics but what do most people mean when talking about "starting" their MY? I usually just get into my vehicle, put it in drive and go. If it is really cold, I hit the HVAC button on my app a few minutes before I get in and the HVAC warms the cabin. Since my MYLR is...

    Flat Tire Q's - What's the latest?

I modified my trunk area by cutting some of the carpet board in the trunk on my 2023 MY. My StanceMagic spare tire fits in this area. The tire raises the trunk floor by about 3/8" which is not noticed with a trunk protector pad. There is a thread on doing this on this site. Having a spare...

Cleaning outdoor black plastic trim around wheels and bottom of doors?

There are several products you can buy to bring back the black. Most of the time I just wash the plastic and apply some tire dressing on it. This seems to last about as long as the other products.

    range anxiety

Had my MYLR for 6 months. Around home I have very little range anxiety but on a trip I find myself constantly watching the battery percentage. I plan my trips and know where my stops will be but it seems that a certain amount of range anxiety always occurs. I guess it is because EV chargers...

Is a new, "previously repaired" Model Y worth it for a steep discount

Bought a 2023 MYLR Dual Motor that had a scratch repaired. The photos showed the damage was where the license plate attaches in the back. SC rep said it was damaged when unloading from truck and that the repair would not be on Carfax. The repair is invisible and the vehicle was the exact color...

    Do You Unplug For Thunderstorms?

My home is on a ridge and my shop which is 60 feet from the house sits higher on the ridge. There are many tall trees that sit higher on the ridge above my shop. I had a lightning strike about 10 years ago right outside my shop that strangely enough did not strike a tall tree but but struck at...

    Do You Unplug For Thunderstorms?

We are are experiencing our third day in a row of severe thunderstorm warnings here in Western North Carolina. While we usually don't have many problems we have had lightning damage of electronics twice in the past 30 years. I have been trying to unplug my MYLR for the storms. When searching...

No Spare Tire - I Have a few Questions

I am not an expert in physics but with less air the tread area of the tire is more flexible and I have found it to be easier to insert the plug. I learned this from my local tire dealer. When the tire is still on the vehicle and you let the air out you can lose the bead seal which is hard to...

No Spare Tire - I Have a few Questions

If you can get the wheel off the vehicle, letting the air out of the tire helps reduce the effort to install a plug. I've not had good luck trying to get a plug in with the wheel still on the vehicle.

I regret my Model Y purchase because of seat comfort and seating position problems

I have the same problem and have tried several seat cushions even some I modified some cushions to fit my seat. So far the best solution has been to adjust the front of the seat higher and adjust the lumbar. It helps but is not perfect. If I could just swap out the seat from my 2020...

No Spare Tire - I Have a few Questions

It sure can be random. I average 15K miles a year and went 20 some years without a blowout and then had 2 within a month. I did pick up a few random nails over the years but the plug kits fixed them up.

No Spare Tire - I Have a few Questions

I believe you are reading too much into the statement. Universal holes work fine. I rotate tires on all my vehicles myself and when mounting a tire and wheel onto the studs it is easier to have one bolt pattern. This is especially true for my heavy truck tires. I bought some wheels some years...

Gave an older gentleman a ride today…

I agree. It's hard to imagine how much we have progressed in 100 years. When she was born at home there was no electricity or indoor plumbing available to rural residents of the Western North Carolina mountains.

Gave an older gentleman a ride today…

I believe you read my post wrong. My aunt was 100 years old. Not a hater. She just had trouble processing this new technology. I can assure you that she had not read any info about EV's either positive or negative. We just thought it was comical that she came up with these questions. BTW...

No Spare Tire - I Have a few Questions

Gave an older gentleman a ride today…

My aunt turned 100 last year and her daughter took her for a ride in their new EV. She was concerned about not hitting puddles on the road because of the "shock hazard". She also wanted to know if EVs had to obey the speed limit. It is really fun to introduce EVs people who do not really...

    Just got rear Ended

Wow, glad you were not seriously hurt! Here in NC some people like to deal with the other party's insurance company directly and others like to use their own insurance company and let them go through the process of subrogation. I found that letting my insurance company handle the situation...

Forgot To Put My Wheel Covers On For A Six Hour Trip

I feel confident that there must be some difference in range with the wheel covers or Tesla would not have included them. My trip was not a scientifically valid test at all but for my "real world" experience there seemed to be little difference. I glanced at the watt hours but didn't record...

Forgot To Put My Wheel Covers On For A Six Hour Trip

Been leaving my wheel covers off because the Gemini wheels look better on my MYLR. Usually I put the covers back on when I make a six hour drive to the beach but forgot last week until I was already on the road. To the best of my calculations, there seemed to be no difference in range. The...

    Steering Correction

I'm sure you are correct. I will adjust my settings. Seems like when I read this before it said you could turn these off but they would automatically re-engage upon restart. Looks like that is not the case. Thanks!

    Steering Correction

My MYLR will at random times display an alarm, pull my steering wheel, and display a message that says corrective steering applied. There seems to be no reason for this to happen when it occurs. Each time it occurs my vehicle is centered within my lane and there is nothing to collide with...

Dust And Mud Intrusion On Door Sills

Been searching for a solution for dust and mud intrusion around the doors and on the door sills on the MY and haven't found anything recent. How do I get charging location to work properly in the app?

My home charging was always showing up as other. I had gone into navigation and made sure my home was the correct address but this didn't work until I went to the grocery store and decided to navigate "home". After that the charging stats showed the car charging correctly at home.

Model Y Tire and Wheel Damage

I've owned several AWD Subaru's and several Chevy and Ford 4WD vehicles and have been warned by the service departments of each about mismatched tires causing drivetrain damage. You can draw your own conclusions. From the Subaru website: Q: Do I need to replace all four tires at once on my...

Model Y Tire and Wheel Damage

Not correct. Different tire circumferences on an ICE vehicle (or even tractors) causes the tires to spin at different RPM's which induces binding in the transmission. Serious and expensive damage can and will occur. I'm just not sure if the EV's transaxles are connected in a manner that...
