LFP Model Y battery drain whilst on Holiday

I'd second that. We used Meet and Greet at Gatwick North last month. When we collected the car it had hardly lost any charge but we wanted some food and the car did need to be topped up if it was to get us the full 150 miles back home. So we used the new Gridserve SCs. We were the only...

    [UK] 2024.14.x

That's really useful and it certainly seems to be getting there. One moment of concern though at just after 8 min's, where a large articulated lorry suddenly appears as if by magic, and apparently wipes you out!

Arrive with minimum % battery - Navigation

When I do the 770 mile roundtrip to Scotland, I plan it on ABRP. That gives me a couple of stops on the way up and I arrive at my parent;s with 30% charge. As per guidance above, I export that to Google Maps (on the ABRP app) then send to the car.

    From Y to Audi e-tron: a Comparison

I bought my Q3 in March 2020 for £54k. Sold it in September 2023 for £34k. I've had 4 Audis from 2010 and they have all been very nice cars to own and to drive. Their MMI though has always been awful. Really poor.

    Charging battery properly

Jeez. That's spooky. I hope for your sake that you don't look like me too. That's enough for one of us to bear :)

    Charging battery properly

I plug my MYP into the home charger after the last drive of the day. Some days we don't drive at all so it stays plugged in. More often than not when we do use it we are doing just a few miles and use only 2-3% of charge. So, it charges on the cheap rate over night and I set max to 60%. Much...

    New Navigation Supercharger Prediction

For the sake of correctness, the op said '<25'. Still seems like a long wait though and much more than I've ever experienced (thus far). On a long trip a couple of weeks back (during half-term) I twice had to wait for around 5 min's for an available SC. On both occasions it became quite...

Supercharger - Los Angeles, CA - North Eagle Rock Blvd. (permit found, 60 stalls)

That's immense. I think the biggest single site we have in the UK is Exeter with 32 stalls. I agree with comments above too that these sites need to include facilities. We've gotta pee somewhere right? My family and I had a long drive last week from England to Scotland (400 miles each...

    From Y to Audi e-tron: a Comparison

I had an interesting and at least part-related conversation with a friend this past weekend. He has just bought a new Audi RS3, which is a fantastic car. But as I turned up in my MYP, the conversation quickly came around to why he didn’t choose to go electric (which I have no issue with btw...

Vision-only Auto Park is finally here

Have you tested it on parallel parking? If Tesla can get that right, I will be a very happy MYP driver. Not only avoiding obstacles to the front and rear, but identifying where the kerb is and not hitting it with the Uberturbines. The uprgade to park assist has made a huge difference and I...

Do you normally use "CHILL" mode or "NORMAL" mode with your model Y?

I use Sport in our MYP. My wife doesn't know it, but she uses Chill ;)

Is the car online access acting up?

Same. Mine is definitely failing to connect more regularly than it ever did. Prior to the past week or so it was just about 100% reliable. Now seems to struggle 50% of the time. So something has changed.

    Ambient Temperature of an EV?

I plug it in at home and it charges during the cheaper rate between 11:00 and 06:00. Most nights its done by midnight as we don't use the car every day and don't do regular commutes. On the morning in question, charging had completed by 11:15pm as we hadn't used the car at all the previous...

    2023 Model Y - some suggestions

    4. This is an interesting one and very subjective. My last few cars have had retractable panoramic sunroofs and for me it is extra weight and extra cash for something that is entirely unnecessary. I like having the light that's provided by the glass roof but opening it simply increases noise...

    Ambient Temperature of an EV?

The temp overnight must have hit around the freezing mark as all the other cars were also iced up in the morning. And next door's Skoda has a pretty large sunroof. So whilst i admire your thinking, I'm not sure it quite explains this situation :)
  16. M

    Ambient Temperature of an EV?

We had a mild frost overnight. I noticed this morning that my neighbour's car (a Skoda ICE) had to have the ice scraped from the windows before he drove off on his commute. My MYP, parked next to the Skoda, was completely clear. My car was plugged into the charger but we hadn't driven it...

    Dealing with Curb Rash

I appreciate you are the expert and I understand what you are saying. But I remain convinced that the combination of wheel and tire (Uberturbine/P Zero) leaves this wheel more vulnerable than any I've seen before. Even a light brush up against a very low kerb and it's all on the alloy. I'll...

HaHa. That's brilliant. Protect the rims with the tires like every other manufacturer has been doing for years! You are one crazy dude. :D

    From Y to Audi e-tron: a Comparison

My Q3 Vorsprung hatch (2020 model) had all sorts of issues from new. It was anyone's guess if it was going to open. Except when i was washing the car. When spraying the rear with a hosepipe (not even a powerwash) the boot would suddenly spring open :) . They did fix it eventually under...

First Tesla: Model Y Performance 😮

Nice to hear some positive stories on the forum. We were much like you in that we had never even considered a Tesla. Took a MYP for a test more due to the significantly shorter lead time vs Audi and others. Loved it. One suggestion though would be that you get onto the Teslaunch website...

    Model Y Performance - Incognito?

The red line under 'dual motor' can be removed with a hairdryer and a bit of dental floss. The Carbon spoiler I guess needs the same treatment as ultimately its just stuck on with 3M tape. Wheels can be replaced but that is a significant cost. Calipers can be painted I guess, or I think there...

    From Y to Audi e-tron: a Comparison

We've been lucky to have new Audi's last 4 times - A3, A3, A4 Avant, Q3. Brilliant cars, solid build, etc. Having made the commitment about this time last year that we were going to go EV (company salary sacrifice scheme) it was a no-brainer we would look at the Q4. Other than the frankly...

    From Y to Audi e-tron: a Comparison

Thankfully, it's all subjective and very much 'each to their own'. We had 4 new Audis is a row over the past dozen or so years and would count ourselves very fortunate to continue with the brand. However, when we decided to go EV we were keen to go with an EV specific manufacturer and avoid...

    Battery drained to zero

I wasn't intending to leave my kids or my dog in the car for a fortnight whilst we big it up in Ibiza, so I guess I'll leave Cabin Protection as 'off'.
  28. M

    Battery drained to zero

What about Cabin Overheat Protection? is 'no a/c' sufficient or is it better to select 'off'?

    Battery drained to zero

Interesting discussion. We left our MYP (2023 model) at Gatwick for 3 days last week. it had 43% charge when we left (sentry 'on') and by the time we returned it was below 20% (I received a message on the app to say sentry had been switched off at 20%). So it lost something in the region of...

    2021 Plaid is very slow

Could it have been a settings issue? Was the car in valet mode for example? Or, when setting up my car initially I switched on 'speed limit' thinking it would prevent me from going into 'immediate ban from driving' territory. What I noticed though is that it also seemed to seriously limit...

Vendor 🥳🥳GIVEAWAY! Teslaunch New Product Drop: Join Our Test Program

What I meant was that the very fact we have so many discussions around damage to these wheels suggests what we all know i.e. the combination of wheel and tire is a poor design at best. What other manufacturer forum has to devote so much time, and design after market products, to protect their...

For sure, that would have been a similar but more painful rash to the uberturbine had the protector not stepped up to the plate. I reckon that rash will rub down pretty easily too. I'm thinking of getting a touch-up paint for that very reason. We really shouldn't need to have entire threads...

    Should auto-park be working?

Indeed. I do however have tesla vision - the answer to all our driving related issues. I also still have a big hole in my bank account where I paid for EAP and all its features

    Should auto-park be working?

I've had my MYP (Shanghai build) since September 2023 (with EAP) and have never seen auto park offered. I've tried driving sub 5mph, close to the existing parked cars, and nothing.

Further field testing: Since fitting the rim protectors we have now somehow managed to kerb both passenger side wheels! Honestly, 4 years of owning an Audi Q3 Vorsprung and not a scratch on the Audisport alloys. What is it with this car and the Uberturbines? Anyway, on both wheels I'd...

Test drive of a petrol car

I can absolutely assure you that my 2023 Audi Q3 Vorsprung (a very, very good car with a modern petrol engine and S-Tronic auto gears) is neither capable of 500 miles on one tank, nor was it ever. Equally, I can tell you with absolute confidence that the circa 440 miles it will do in summer...

I did the same i.e. I waited for better weather. In that period, two of my lovely new wheels were kerbed. I then took the plunge, wiped down the outer rime of the wheels and snapped the protectors into place. It genuinely takes longer to wipe down the wheel than it does to fit the protectors...

Teslas sitting at Super Charger in cold weather

There are lots of dubious factors in this news story: Why Chicago and this SC station in particular? There are thousands of SC stations and many of those are in colder climates Why now? How long have those SCs been there? They seem to have worked fine up to this point! Are Chicago drivers...

    2023 MYP Tyre Brand

Yeah ok. I guess I didn't word it particularly well. What I was really asking is whether I am correct in thinking that this is a summer tire? There are other threads which suggested Tesla fit an 'all season' tire and I can't see any marking on it which say either but searching the numbers...

    2023 MYP Tyre Brand

Revising an old thread but: I took delivery (UK) of my MYP back in September 2023 (73 plate). It has the Pirelli P Zero's fitted as above. 255 on the front, 275 on the rear. There's lots of numbers and pictures on the tires and from what I can work out they are classed as Summer tires...

@Teslaunch - I'd be grateful if you could confirm the colour of the protectors I was lucky to receive from the giveaway. I want to order more and I'm fairly sure I'm not sure if the ones we were sent are Matt Black or Carbon Grey. They are an almost perfect match for the Uberturbines. MTIA

So we finally had a break in the weather that allowed me to clean the wheels and snap these protectors into place. I received my rim protectors (uberturbine) a few weeks back but a combination of weather and Xmas means they are still in the box. Unfortunately in that time 'someone' has damaged both front and nearside wheels. I'm going to have to file out a couple of dents and smooth off the curb rash...

    Tesla Vision

I think the shame in all of this is that my MYP is a really good car. I am loving driving it. BUT the frustration is from how easily it could be a great car. Re-design the wheels, give it USS and I'm buying MYPs from here on in. ....... the more supportive front seats from Berlin would be...

Absolutely agree with last para in particular. For every review I found which stated that Tesla Vision was flaky at best, there was another saying how good it is. And even those that said it couldn't be trusted tended to throw in the caveat that 'it will probably be improved by software...
