    Supercharger - Richmond VIC

I don't understand how Oakleigh South would help. It's pretty far from Richmond no? Superchargers in St Kilda are closer from Oakleigh towards the city, and Dandenong in the opposite direction I think...

Growth of Superchargers vs Teslas/EVs in Australia

I don't disagree with your numbers, nice job @gazpachopolice ! However, I think the approach to your analysis (which seems to be trying to understand if the holiday congestion is going to be better or worse than last year) has a couple of flaws. While it's true there are more EVs on the road...

Supercharger - Melbourne (Hawthorn East), Vic

Exactly. South Yarra and Richmond are apartment central compared to Wyndham, I think @Zoltrix77 has nailed it. The paid parking situation at the South Yarra location is a massive own goal from Tesla, but I didn't realise it was that high @GeoQuack !!! Since it's opened I've driven in the area...

Supercharger - Melbourne (South Yarra), Vic

I reckon it's linked to the LGAs that have a higher % of EV ownership. I see heaps of EVs (mostly Teslas) in the SE suburbs.

    Superchargers in Australia

Instead of voting for new SuperCharger locations, I wish Tesla would instead include DCFC from other networks in the navigation and pre-conditioning system they have! I have read that in America the non-Tesla charging networks are a bit hit and miss, but I've had great experience with Evie (in...

    Evie EV charging networks

Here's a random question on Evie chargers. There seems to be a stop button on the charger itself. Does this mean that any old random can walk up to the occupied charger and stop someone's session?! Has this happened to anyone?

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

Hahaha that's not early adopter, that's beta tester! 😂. Yup, it's definitely better now than it was, and will continue to improve year on year!

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

That's a great way to get evicted in a rental market with historically low vacancies! 🧌 My point is just that EVs are still being perceived as "too expensive", "unreliable" or "unfit for purpose". His next is almost certainly going to be electric - as I understand it, he recently bought a Volvo...

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

Respectfully, I still believe that we are early adopters for the following reasons: 1. Only certain demographics in Australian can afford an EV today. This will obviously change in the future, particularly as the second hand market continues to grow 2. Home charging is not yet ubiquitous. I'm a...

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

It would be great if the option to show non-Tesla chargers was a setting. Default it to off if it doesn't meet Tesla's standards, but at least giving us the option would be an improvement. Having to look at my phone's GPS (while I have the in-car nav set to a Super Charger for preconditioning)...

    Supercharger - St Kilda, Vic

Well, the Richmond one is pretty much the only one that gets full from what I can see and is a slower capacity than these 250kw ones, plus the South Eastern suburbs of Melbourne have the highest EV uptake in Victoria, so it makes sense to me. Good to see more Superchargers! Disclaimer - I live...

    Supercharger - Melbourne (Brighton East)

Gee that's shocking! It's the closest super charger to me, thanks for pointing it out.

Major strata management group MICM in Victoria blocking installation of EV chargers

Yes, exactly. I can only see this changing when owners corporations threaten a change of management, and while EVs are still niche, that is a way off unfortunately. My friend is going to raise it with the owner's corp, but I don't like their chances.

Major strata management group MICM in Victoria blocking installation of EV chargers

Hey friends, a mate of mine is wanting to get an EV charger installed in his apartment. The body corp previously quoted approximately $5k to have this installed. Several other owners have also paid, so there are a few EV chargers in the building. However they have now sent this around to...

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

Hey friends, I just noticed that slow chargers appear in the Tesla maps. Has this always been there? I'm a relatively new owner. There's a "two lightning bolt" symbol that is showing but appears empty. I wonder if 50kw chargers may appear there in the future? Perhaps signs that non-Tesla fast...

    Ampol AmpCharge network

Indeed! I'd probably just grumble about it and pay up anyway!

    Superchargers in Australia

True, and looks good, however the notes say it's 10 initially with a further 10 at some later (unspecified) date.

    ChargeFox EV charging Network

Hmm, I wonder if Evie will get there before Chargefox then. Chargefox is potentially in a difficult position when they don't own the charging infrastructure.

    ChargeFox EV charging Network

oooh wonder if Tesla is one of the vehicle manufacturers they are talking to? I think some European countries have non-Tesla chargers in the infotainment system, so it would be great if ChargeFox (and Evie, and BP, and Ampol etc) could also do that!

That's going to be awesome when FSD (eventually) becomes a thing - drink and drive :)

Kerbside pole-mounted chargers are now a thing

I wonder if this will come to Victoria? There are heaps of older, high density buildings that would benefit. Some newer apartments are being built with EV chargers in the underground carparks, which is cool, but I wonder if it's less effort to look at curbside charging instead of retrofitting...

    Evie EV charging networks

Oh wow, that's disappointing. I had the old one installed and the new one was a seamless upgrade - it brought all my details across. I'm using Android. YMMV indeed!

I've just installed it, it's pretty slick setup, ported over both my credit card and RFID card. Pretty seamless :)

Model Y long range delivery times

It's pretty unpredictable. I was able to "jump the queue" for a MYLR in Melbourne by getting it from Inventory. I reckon I saved about 6 weeks from my delivery time, however I took delivery 8 days before the $3,500 discount (I had no idea this was coming!!!). There are RWDs in there at the...

    Evie EV charging networks

While nothing would prevent installation of more than one stall, I've also read that the various charging networks are yet to turn a profit. These businesses are very much still in the early startup days, because the business model has not yet been proven. I imagine that as EV adoption continues...

NEMA (Australia) Energy market structure and mechanisms

Have you heard of this thing called "climate change"? Your post loses credibility when you say things like unions don't care about workers. Do you actually understand what a union is? Of course if your point was that "the (private) owners of coal fired power plants should be redeploying their...

    Australian Model Y Waiting Room

Hey folks, so it turns out because I won the Elon lottery today by getting something from Inventory, they have just now sent me the schedule delivery text (at 5:30pm on a Friday). And the only options were Monday or Tuesday. This doesn't give me much time to do all the things. There is no...

    Australian Model Y Waiting Room

I don't think it's worth $400 to me, which is essentially what I would have had to pay to cancel my order and then buy from inventory. But it seems like I spoke too soon about someone else getting it - just got the VIN now! 🥳
  38. M

    Australian Model Y Waiting Room

Ah, I just noticed that there was a MYLR in Vic inventory, but it didn't get assigned to my order because of the free super charging for 3 months. I rang Tesla and asked them about it, and they said that they could assign it to my order if I didn't care about the super charging (which I don't)...

    Australian Model Y Waiting Room

hey friends, at what point should I expect my final invoice to appear? I ordered on the 2/5/23 but am yet to receive anything. I don't seem to have a VIN allocated yet either. Maybe I'm just being impatient!

Extending the reach of a 10A home charger

Ah, awesome folks! That HPM was actually the one I had seen on Bunnings and had wondered about! Thank you :) I'm not 100% sure if I'll charge at home, but want to understand what my options are. My work has 12 EV chargers (capacity unknown, probably 7kw) so I'll probably end up charging there...

Extending the reach of a 10A home charger

Hello there! While I await delivery of my Model Y, I have been doing some research into home chargers. I rent an apartment, so I cannot mount a regular Tesla wall charger, but the apartment has a courtyard pretty close to where I park, and I can run the cable through there. However, I don't...

I don't think so. I am looking at my order agreement and it shows the (slightly lower) price. I literally ordered this morning, it's now $400 more expensive!

hey folks, first time poster here. Just ordered my Model Y RWD in white (totally vanilla!) this morning, 2/5/23. EDD between July and September. Very exciting!
