I like using this tool, in case you haven't come across it. I've set it up to my vanilla MYLR's OEM tyre (255/45R19 x 9.5ET45). As an upsize, It recommends 265/45R19 on the same wheel. Speed offset is +1% here, but my MYLR reports approx 2% above GPS speed anyway, so should be perfectly fine...

Am I missing something? My quote for a MYLR as of a few seconds ago from Allianz is ~$1.1k (clean record, 15k km, garaged, no <25, excess free windshield, choice of repairer, $2000 excess).

Have used the blue Meguairs hybrid ceramic stuff a bunch - it definitely lasts between several washes. For those using it, dry the car, spray on, and wipe off with a clean cloth. The wet car, spray on, rinse off method does not last as long. Definitely not a proper ceramic coating though. In...

I may be wrong, but I think it's infrared light (or a heat lamp). Either way, professionals have these to speed up the process, especially between multiple coats. For a casual home application, park in the sun is a-okay.

The 9H stuff with regards to ceramic coatings refers to a graphite/lead pencil hardness test - generally from 9B (soft) to 9H (hard). 9H indicates it cannot be scratched with a 9H lead pencil. Some coats go as far as claiming 10-14H hardness, which is dubious as this does not exist on the scale...

On Grand Eagle, no delivery date yet. EDD to Canberra moved back today to 1-22 July (from 6-27 July).

A plug repair kit + 12V inflator, or use roadside assist if wait time is reasonable. Will probably also carry some Slime sealant as a last resort.

It's down to personal preference, but the value proposition of a Model Y is pretty fantastic. I don't expect either to hold value particularly well, but will be surprised if the BMW comes out on top, given you'd be paying $20k+ more for it to begin with. Included servicing on the BMW is nice...

I presume you added the mud flaps? Some markets apparently come with front mud flaps.

Pretty sure this is because he's had a MY on order (he says so in the comments, and based on previous videos, seems like he's been waiting since last year). Many others here waiting since last year have either received a UMC, or a code equivalent to UMC value.

Agreed. Maxxia's rate was far higher for my MYLR quote than others. Ended up going with sgfleet.

Battery swap is expensive, but can definitely be done. Though look at degradation studies - the average battery will last you a few hundred thousand kilometres. That is a LOT of years for the average driver.

Agree with Jon. Almost none of these guarantees are actually valid, and the ones that make sense require you to return annually for (paid) maintenance. Think of ceramic coats as a long lasting wax, with some swirl protection. Any grander claims are hard to substantiate.

I paid $900 GST inclusive for a ~15m run through the roof, 3-phase 32A (22kW) install in Canberra with easy access to the roof. Happy to DM my guy's contact if you like. Plus $700 for the Tesla Gen 3 EVSE itself through Sunstak (if you can pickup from Hume).

Not a sparky either, but 6mm2 is the standard 3-phase 32A install, and good for ~40m distance. 10mm2 would be better, but probably also unnecessary, and would be used for lengths approaching ~60m.

ACT bound Model Y LR estimated delivery date just updated to 11-30 June. Seems more in line with Grand Eagle's new 6 June arrival date.

If only Tesla's history on adhering to timelines was anywhere near that good :D We'll be waiting a while, but it's something!
